Obelisks: The Mystery Continues by fire_of_z | |
I have only recently joined NeoPets and I have been
trying to catch up on the current story lines and debates by reading the
Neopian Times. After reading several articles about the three obelisks
of power, faith and wisdom, I decided to investigate myself, and made
some strange discoveries. The first thing that caught my eye is that the
supposedly unexplored area north of the Haunted Woods kind of looked like
a dinosaur when I lifted a sheet of paper up to my monitor (I didn't have
any tracing paper handy), but I realised that this was just a red herring
when I took the paper off. The important thing that I found was that when
I joined up some of the areas with lines, I saw that they almost make
a pattern (you can see this in the diagram below). An important feature
that stands out and hasn't had much recognition is the mountain in the
far Northwest of the map which is opposite Mystery Island on my diagram;
I am surprised that no one else seems to have noticed it. This point and
other unexplored areas, some of which have been mentioned in other articles,
are labeled with a ?.

My next point is that many people seem to have been forgetting
about Maraqua. When I first read about the lost city of Floatlantis, I
thought that the idea of it was silly, as there is already the lost city
of Maraqua, and it would be very unlikely to have another sunken city
(there is Kiko Lake, but that was only given a Neopedia entry); however,
after further reading, the idea seems very likely, with Faerieland crash-landing
in the North (probably somewhere between Terror Mountain and the Lost
Woods), revealing a floating harbour city off the coast of Neopia Central.
If it is connected with the sea, though, all the more reason to look in
Maraqua for information. If you look at the central structure in Maraqua,
which is as yet unexplored, you can see that the central part of it is
obelisk shaped. Maybe the obelisk of wisdom is in Maraqua? But doesn't
the obelisk need to be at sea level? Maybe Maraqua and Floatlantis are
really the same place? And what about the great beast that will rise up
from the deep? Does this have anything to do with the legend of Chiazilla?
Or is it a new 'mono' creature, like the Monoceraptor? Are there three
of these monsters that are connected with the three obelisks? And if Flotsams
are involved, does that mean Jetsams are as well?
Lastly, other articles suggest that the obelisks are
evil, and that King Coltzan and the Techo Master are on the dark side.
I think that the activation of the three obelisks is an unavoidable event,
the destiny of Neopia, and that good will eventually come of it. Defeating
the monster for good may be a way of unlocking a new golden age in Neopia.
I think that the monster was trapped underwater a long time ago (possibly
by Tiku Taku) but must be released again when the time is right, and there
are armies strong enough to defeat it. If the obelisk is on Mystery Island,
the Techo Master may be trying to be good by hiding it, but is really
just postponing its activation. I wouldn't think of King Coltzan being
evil, and I think that he must have known the truth, but no one knows
for sure, and I missed the story of his death, so I don't know much about
him anyway.
I have still found no answers, but I hope that this article
and it's diagram has inspired you to rethink your theories and search
for more clues on the mystery that is sweeping Neopia. |
