Reasons to Collect by silver | |
I happen to be a collector. I don't really hold on to my collections, but it
seems that every week or two I sell out my shop and start collecting something
new. It sounds odd, but there are some really good advantages to collecting.
All the collections mentioned below are collections of mine.
1. Sound impressive. A lot of people talk about how they have,
say, 100,000 Neopoints. It sounds great, right? But doesn't it sound so much
more fun to say, "I have nine paint brushes and all of the Ice Lollies"? Or
even better: "Blue, green, yellow, red, purple, white, Christmas, shadow, striped,
and glowing paint brushes as well as chickentastic, milky moo, bananarific,
chickentastic, chocalotta, cococrazy, fiery flames, metalicious, mint explosion,
minty vanilli, strawy vanilli, strawbericious, appletastic, and mighty melon
Ice Lollies." It sounds so impressive, and it actually costs less. Think of
the collection you could have if you spent 100,000 Neopoints!
2. Express yourself. Why not find a good way to show the world
how you're feeling? Collect something that shows your mood. For instance, if
you're feeling sad, buy lots of watery objects. It kind of gets you point across
if some one wanders into your shop and finds a Water Faerie, water spell, and
sad books. And, it gives you something to do while you're busy moping at your
computer.
3. Make money. As I said earlier, I don't hold onto my collections
for very long. Building my collections is a challenge and it's fun. After a
little while, I trade or sell my collections away. When you have a substantial
collection, such as all of the faeries or the entire Kau print collection, you
can get a great price at the trading post because you have a full set. Also
make a link to your lots in your shop. If the items are all sort of unrelated,
a hodgepodge of books, spells, and weapons, selling them separately in your
shop is probably the best idea. By hunting for low prices and getting good deals
on the items in your collection, you can make a tidy profit.
4. Make your shop look good. I price my shop pretty low and I
normally carry Dubloons, Codestones, map pieces, and potions, so I sell out
fast. I also get a lot of homework, so I can't restock very often. An empty
shop is kind of lonely and depressing looking. Even though your collection might
not be for sale, price everything at, say, 200,000 Neopoints, so that way if
any one goes into your shop they see a bunch of items. This also keeps you from
wasting space - an empty size 67 shop just doesn't seem right. |
