The Best Adventure Spots in Neopia: The Haunted Woods by neo_star_queen | |
HAUNTED HOUSE - Eeeep! What was that noise? Oh, hello again! I said in my last
article that the next time you heard from me, I'd be in the Haunted
Woods, so here I am! It started to rain, so my Kougra (who by now I should
tell you is named Neofaerie_1, or Neofaerie for short) and I took shelter in this
Haunted House
to write to you, but I'm starting to think that was a bad idea… well, as promised,
here is a guide to the best adventure spots in the Haunted Woods; I hope I live
to write it!
Edna's Tower: A tall grey turret, towering over you, eerie green light
pouring out of the eye-shaped windows… I want to go back to my Neohome! Well,
if you are brave enough to venture inside, you are greeted by Edna the witch.
This presents a bit of a problem, as there is not much adventuring to be done
on the ground floor, while being watched by the evil Zafara. Distract her somehow
(I personally like to throw something in her cauldron; it causes frothy liquid
to spill over the side and distracts her for a nice long period of time), and
find the cracked mirror (bad luck!) on the left side of the building. Open it
like you would a door, and you have found the secret stairway! Then, it's up
to you how you would like to explore her tower. Skill Level:intermediate
- advanced
The Castle of Eliv Thade: Poor, poor Gilly Usul. To be trapped in that
horrible castle, with that equally horrible Eliv
Thade? Well, the main door is barred shut, but Neofaerie and I found a few
other ways to get in. There is a rotting wooden door at the back of the castle,
an underwater entrance from the lake at the west wall, and a large, open window
a few steps away from the main entrance. Once inside, you must be careful… there
are cracks in the floor that could send you plummeting to the basement, there's
that demented Kacheek, Eliv Thade, and who knows what else is in there? It could
just be me, but I'm sure all those moaning noises and creaking stairs aren't
just caused by the wind… Skill Level:intermediate - advanced
The Deeper Part of the Forest: err… I'm not sure if it has a real name,
but travel Northwest, to where the brain tree is, and behind it is, well, The
Deeper Part of the Forest. The trees are closer together, there is hardly any
light at all, and dark figures prowl in the shadows. I'm scared again! Well,
it's very easy to get lost in this abyss of night, so… don't get lost! Also,
weaker pets are advised to stay away from this area, as you are quite likely
to get attacked… unless your attacker has bad aim, and attacks your owner instead.
Really Neofaerie, if you're not going to fight, give me the weapons…
Skill Level:more-than-intermediate - very advanced
The Graveyard: Meep! What was that moaning noise? The Graveyard is
located beside the Stone Battledome. Locals say that sometimes they can hear
the Ghost Lupe calling from inside… it's probably where the Ghost Lupe lurks
when he's not out healing pets (he's not such a bad fellow). This graveyard
is dark and creepy… another place where you need bravery! (Guess I'm leaving.)
Skill Level:intermediate The Ruins of the Clowncoaster: before
it was torn down, the Clowncoaster was a fun and exciting ride. Now, it's a
scary and nerve-racking adventure spot! Go to the Deserted
Fairground, ignore the sign outside that says 'WARNING: Clowncoaster
could cave in any second. Don't go in, Knock down a few of the bars of wood
lying across the entrance, and climb down the stairs into the dim and desolate
ruins. Watch out for the black Meepits, and be on your guard for falling chunks
of rock! Skill Level: intermediate - advanced
Now, the Haunted Woods is a dangerous place, so you'll need all the help and
advice you can get!
- Bring some kind of source of light. Novas work well, and so do supernovas.
However, there are many cheaper ways of making light that work just as well!
My Kougra and I, we used torches that we stole- err, borrowed-without-asking
from the Fire Faerie. We didn't want to ask her because we knew she'd say
no. The fire Faerie is scary.
- Be brave. A certain level of bravery is required for all adventures (even
if you plan on exploring the Usuki shop), but you really need to be courageous
when adventuring in the Haunted Woods. And you can't be scared of the dark,
no matter how many lights you bring. Unfortunately, I'm scared of the dark.
The dark is scary.
- Avoid the Brain Tree. Why? He's scary. And he must be plotting something
with all that information he's collected…
- Don't go on the rides at the Deserted Fairground. They are broken. They
are old. They are creaky. They are haunted. And, truth be told, the rides
at the Deserted Fairground are (say it with me!) scary.
Well, I suppose this guide is pretty much finished! Be sure to read next time
for The Best Adventure Spots in Neopia: Terror Mountain. Now if you'll excuse
me, I need to run away screaming from the Fire Faerie, who is currently chasing
me, looking extremely angry. Good bye!
Today's random adventuring tip: Always make sure you have the proper equipment
before going adventuring. You don't want to go to Maraqua and suddenly remember
that you can't swim, do you? (For non-swimming pets.)
Author's Note: I have gotten a few Neomails about this, so I must say that
you can NOT get to many of these places by clicking pictures and links. I repeat,
there is NO way you can get to Ixi Meadow, or the Graveyard etc. by looking
for a link to click. The only proper way to adventure in Neopia is to use your
imagination.
