The Eccentric Codestone: Part Three by apparent | |

Jyrosen, Krawker, and Saigru decided that it was best to
go out and destroy the magical stone somewhere far away from where they'd found
it. Every so often, the eccentric codestone would vibrate a little bit, gaining
a strange halo of pale yellow atop its surface. It took them a while to narrow
it down to Terror Mountain as the afternoon rounded the corner - it would only
be a matter of time before their owner came to check on them. Now, Jyrosen was
still mute and Krawker still had no claws, so the traveling took much longer then
usual. Saigru had to hold onto the codestone, too keep Jyrosen from mind using
it, and he also had to carry Krawker, because he could not walk without his claws.
Saigru found it amazing - some parts of Neopia could be so cold when others a
short distance away were so hot. Krawker enjoyed being held like an infant in
his older brother's grasp, and blissfully proclaimed while on the horizon of Terror
Mountain, "Whee! This is great."
Jyrosen stared towards Krawker with a disgusted
expression, although he was unable to say anything. They quietly continued traveling,
and it was only a matter of time before the cold atmosphere of Terror Mountain
whipped at their faces, causing shivers and sneezes to be emitted every few
moments from one out of the three traveling. It appeared to be around 1 PM NST
around that hour, only a few other Neopets walked around in the snow, holding
shopping bags or their earnings from the Snow Faerie. Saigru and Jyrosen became
tired of walking and sat down to rest for a little while near the exterior of
the Ski Lodge.
"I have to admit," Saigru panted tiredly, wiping
a few beads of seat off of his black colored nose. "It's very difficult to travel
all the way from Mystery Island to Terror Mountain without losing your energy."
Krawker nodded in agreement was he was set upon
the ground, wriggling his limbs comfortably despite the chilly weather. "Yeah,
but we're almost there. Cliffhanger is only a few feet away."
Saigru grasped the stone for a minute while
watching Krawker go off in the distance, rolling in the mounds of snow on the
ground, and Jyrosen sulking due to the fact that he still could not speak. The
Kougra sighed and then fingered the codestone for a minute, then whispered,
"I wish the weather was warm." For a moment, nothing happened. Krawker continued
to dance about the cold components on the ground, and Jyrosen wearily closed
his eyes. Then, the transformation occurred. The wind suddenly came to a halt
as the sun settled within the middle of the sky. Krawker found himself rolling
in mud as opposed to snow when the temperature of the Terror Mountain drastically
heated up. Flowers began to sprout out of the ground and Pteris blissfully chirped.
Jyrosen and Krawker turned to look towards their
older brother in awe. Krawker exclaimed, "Saigru! Look at what you've done!"
Saigru felt a bit ashamed of himself for a little
while, but then responded, "You both had your turn to make your wishes, so now
I've made mine. I figured the cliff near Cliffhanger would be slippery with
ice once we tried to toss the stone off of it, and we'd get hurt."
"Good idea, but what about getting CAUGHT?"
Krawker sighed and tried to stand up, but needed his older brother's help. No
one seemed to be on Terror Mountain yet, except for the Snow Faerie hidden within
her housing.
"Let's go," Saigru declared, and so they did.
The distance to travel was actually quite longer then it appeared from sitting
next to the Ski Lodge. Jyrosen released a tired sigh every few moments, and
Krawker complained to himself about the weather suddenly being warm. "'How're
we going to transform it back?" or "What were you thinking?"
were a few of the many inquiries he often asked aloud.
The high cliff greeted them frighteningly. The
three Neopets had never been there without the supervision of their owner, who
warned them to stay away fro the edge. Saigru placed Krawker down on the ground,
and slowly advanced to the edge. His eyes peered down into what lie below, and
was only able to see a misty, gray cloud of fog.
"Let's not find out what's down there the wrong
way," Saigru warned, turning to look back upon the trembling Krawker and ghost-faced
Jyrosen. He lifted up the stone within one of his front paws. The rusted coat
upon it only partly covered the Har sign imprinted on its surface, the halo
of light slowly beginning to diminish.
"Here Jyrosen," Saigru said, looking towards
his mute brother. "You can toss it if you'd like."
The white Lupe nodded slowly and then advanced
to the peak of the cliff, precariously looking downwards. Saigru handed him
the stone and then stepped backwards. He wound his forelimb up as if playing
baseball, but then threw the codestone with all of his force into the seemingly
endless mist below. For several minutes the siblings waited, and then a small
"clank!" sound was heard. Jyrosen sighed and then turned the opposite way in
order to head home.
"We forgot to wish everything back to normal!"
Krawker squealed, finally, instead of standing in awkward silence. "Now I'll
never be able to walk, and Jyrosen won't be able to-"
His complaint was cut short when a loud rumble
of thunder was heard overhead. In the blink of an eye, raindrops began to heavily
fall from the gray sky above. Just as Krawker was about to continue with his
exclamation, he peered down towards his feet. Magically, the black nails on
the ends of them began to sprout out quickly as the rain continued to fall.
A cold wind rushed through the air. Jyrosen shouted, "Hooray! I can talk!" while
dancing on the safest point of the cliff. The rain soon turned to small hailstones
and the thunder angrily boomed several times. Saigru shouted to Krawker, "Come
on, and let's go home!" Without a complaint this time, his younger brother followed,
shivering in the clod weather.
The only thing the three seemingly left behind
was their footprints. However, deep down into the scary mist underneath the
dangerous cliff, all the way on the unknown bottom, the Har codestone lay shattered
in dozens of tiny pieces. As the hail slowed down and snowflakes took it's place,
the codestone pieces began to vibrate and slowly morph into circular shapes,
identical to the one they evolved from. There at the dark bottom, dozens more
of the eccentric codestone formed, waiting to be found.
The End?
