Pet Name: lovejane1314 Owner: qua375 Breed: Draik About lovejane1314: The sun's last rays faded faded slowly, letting a thick darkness cling to the forest. It was the kind of night that only happens when accompanied by a rolling fog that blows in from the sea and masks the brightness of the moon and stars. A heavy sort of chill sets in, sinking deep into the bones of those that might tempt fate and travel at night, no cloak heavy enough to provide protection. Yet one traveler was either desperate or foolish enough to walk the path alone. Guided by the small amount of light her lantern feebly provided, she glanced about nervously. These roads were not safe even during the day. Once perhaps, before the nobles had fled, they had been a good route to take but now bandits were commonplace. Their mansions were littered throughout these woods, standing on their rotting foundations as if temples to old gods of an age gone by. She arrived at one such mansion exactly with little trouble however, walking up to the massive wooden doors and knocking. Perhaps it was the fog or the dense forest, but her small paws seemed not to make a sound. The door opened itself regardless, groaning loudly that it might be used again after being allowed to rest for so long. Timid draik that she was, the girl jumped at the sound and scurried in. Dust and dirt plumed upwards at her disturbance and she coughed into the apron she wore. Her eyes scanned the atrium, brilliant rubies that displayed a strange, sharp and callous intelligence for one so shabbily dressed. For the next several hours she worked tirelessly, removing the offending dust and dirt from every surface. Furniture that had been long since broken, rusted or rotted seemed to repair itself. Plants in the gardens revived as if by some supernatural force conjured by the cleaning. The estate itself seemed to come alive once more. When at last the draik girl reached the final room, she seemed to hesitate. She appeared confused at her own body's resistance to entering the room, but she knew she must enter regardless. Determined to clean every inch of the place, she flung the doors open and began to scrub. As she cleaned this room, scrubbing with unnatural intensity, she changed subtly at first. Her hair, a dull and pale blonde, developed a glorious luster. The loose waves of her short bob stretched out, gaining volume and curl. Even her faded grey scales changed to shiny alabaster ones. What changed the most jarringly were her eyes. Gone was the red that projected wild, intense hatred. Instead soft blue eyes gazed out at the ballroom with with the sort of fondness of someone who has found a memory of days long since passed. With each step she took to the center of the ballroom, her clothes seemed to become very hazy. When finally they came into focus, no longer were they drab rags of brown and grey. No, in fact they were fine silks and lace, much like those the nobles had worn to this room once. At last in the center of the room, almost shining in all her glory, she gave a delicate curtsy and laughed as if someone had told a silly joke. She danced alone, with invisible partners only she could see. As the morning sunlight began to filter in through the open windows, she turned almost sadly to one of the large windows and curtsied once more. And then she faded away, leaving nothing to prove she had ever been there, that she had ever even existed. Perhaps she hadn't.
