What to do now...

We have an idea... we think playing some cards would be quite fun. So your task for the next couple of weeks is to create/design your own SPOOKY Neopian Deck of Cards. As always this deck of cards should be Neopets themed (in this case spooky also) and created entirely by yourself. Your submission should include a picture of your cards and what/who your design is based on in the description. We will judge entries on creativity, fun, and their overall awesomness. :)

I created a virtual deck of spooky card using an drawing app on my tablet. The design on the cards from 1 to 10 represents Halloween petpets, while J, Q and K represents three of my favorites Halloween Neopets!


Full House

For my spooky themed cards I chose to pick only the scariest halloween pets and petpets in neopia! From the madman looking Scorchio to the adorable little Puppyblew. This took quite some time to put together, and a whole lot of scissorwork! Best of all, now I don't have to go and buy another deck of cards!

Haunted Deck

I designed my deck around the Haunted Woods. I chose and drew four spooky suits, namely a meepit, pumpkin, gravestone, and a creepy clown smile. I then drew some well known spooky Neopians to create the face cards. The suits were scanned and symbols resized to create the number cards. The back of the deck is the fittingly spooky scary tree stamp. I've chosen to show the whole deck, as well as a close up of the face cards and a book of aces.


The Haunted Halloween Deck

To create a spooky theme, I illustrated various characters, creatures, objects, and places that one might encounter while exploring the Haunted Woods. I was inspired by a tarot deck that I own, so that's why this deck has the standard 52-card set as well as 13 additional cards. The 52 cards are divided into 4 suits (Slorgs, skulls, Meowclopses, and jack-o-lanterns), each with an Ace through Ten, Jack, Queen, and King. The 13 independent cards have no suit, and can be thought of as the "joker" cards in some decks. However, you can attach special meanings to each, for divination purposes! Those cards (from top left, reading across the rows) are: Cave, Crystal Ball, Brain Tree, Esophagor, Full Moon, Crescent Moon, Lamp Post, Skeleton, Haunted House, Spyder Web, The Three, Ilere, and Meepit. The back of the cards is a Halloween-themed checkerboard pattern. The materials used were index cards, black pen, and colored pencils.

The suits are spooky petpet (bloop, bearog, dribblet, baby fireball). I put the dribblet red because I think it would look better in the cards.


a game of Paintbrush

This is a Neopet paintbrush deck of cards. I chose Transparent, Halloween, Darigan, and Wraith because I think those are the spookiest paintbrushes out there. The pets were picked because those are the ones I think look coolest in that particular color. The back of the cards is meant to be a abstract of the Brain Tree. I used colored pencils on card stock.
