Contest:
Neopets Through Strings

Wheee!

We were digging through our craft cabinets and realized we have quite a bit of string... Now what can you do with string? Then it came to us! Your challenge for the next couple of weeks is to create a string art of your Neopet. (String art is also known as pin and thread art. It is often abstract geometric patterns, but it can be less abstract. Thread, wire, or string is wound around a grid of nails or pins to create pictures. If you do an internet search you will see examples.) When you submit your entry tell us which of your Neopets the art represents. We will judge your entries on accuracy, beauty, and imagination.

First Place

Three winners receive the Random Contest avatar, 15,000 NP and an item of DOOM.

Snow Bori
by 00piggie24
This is my Snow Bori Iburindi enjoying a nice spring tulip!

Yeeby
by afterlaughter
Here is my Baby Aisha, Yeeby, in her Baby Candy Corn Hat.
Materials used: embroidery thread (hat); acrylic yarn (blue); black felt (eyes/mouth); ~80 tiny nails; and heavy-duty cardboard hot-glued to foam backing in lieu of the chipboard my kitten chewed on (R.I.P. chipboard).

Loops of Lobo
by beeswithfeathers
This string art is created in the image of my dear baby lupe, Lobofelis. The background of polka dots is the pattern on his scarf! I used yarn, embroidery floss, pins and a styrofoam base to create my entry!

Second Place

Four lucky people have 10,000 NP, the Random Contest avatar and an item whizzing their way.

Simply String
by iamtrulyfabulous
My neopet is not painted. He is not customized. He is simply ChuGord -- a blue JubJub. I recently got back onto Neopets after a long hiatus; every day I am working to get enough money for my neopets to become beautiful and special. My string art, however, depicts my neopet right now: the beauty of simplicity. Small, plain strands coming together to create a work of art. I had so much fun creating this string JubJub and giving credit to the simple (yet still stunning) pets all over Neopia.

LuizEdward
by kmilaaaa
For this contest I did an art representing my beloved relic korbat LuizEdward.

TrudyPink, a Baby Uni
by malphd
This was an interesting project. Luckily, I was able to use lots of leftover supplies from other projects. I found a scrap piece of wood, painted it with leftover paint, used nails that were left from another project and I raided my stash of embroidery floss for the strings! I worked on this over several days; it was fun!

Stringy Kougra
by mollybuff02
This stringy creation represents my first neopet that I have had from the beginning Flames_6790, who is a Kougra.

Third Place

Lastly there were 6 runners-up who will each receive 5,000 NP and the Random Contest avatar.
