Masterful Fruitiness

Yum, Yum!

It is time for Gadgadsbogen! The wonderful time of year that the fruit on Mystery Island is harvested. In celebration of this event the new Random Contest is going to require you to carve a Petpet out of a fruit. Your creation should be mainly one piece of fruit that is carved. You may use food colouring, little fruits like cherries for details if necessary, but the main part of the carving should be a single piece of fruit. Be creative, make sure you pick out a fruit that will carve well and will work well for the Neopet you wish to carve. When you submit your entry tell us what your entry is of in the title and what you used to make it in your description. We will judge your entries on creativity, quality, edibility and humour.

First Place

Four winners receive the Random Contest avatar, 15,000 NP and an item of DOOM.

Apple Spyder
by amara_starleaf
My nephew was sitting around watching me play Neopets, and he thought the Apple Spyder looked tasty! I knew the random contest was fruit petpets, so this was perfect! I used blueberries for the eyes and mouth details, and a little bit of parsley for the leaves (We couldn't find any small leaves) I only used one apple for his body and legs! He is held together only by him as well (I only made holes and stuck stuff in) In the end my nephew thought it was ALMOST too cute to eat!

Lemon Goldy
by cherryclafoutis
My Goldy petpet is made mainly of a lemon with fins carved out of orange peel and puffy lips made out of orange wedges. To make it's big blue eyes, I carved out the lemon peel, applied food dye and added a raisin with a tooth pick to make the pupil.
I love how the texture of the lemon looks like scales :) I hope you love it too!!!
Happy Gadgadsbogen, everyone!!

Tropical Meepit
by daisli
Using watermelon as a base, grapes for the teeth, apple for the white of the eye and blueberry for the black part, I made a Tropical Meepit with fresh fruits, using the green part of the watermelon as the ground to stand for the petpet. Easy to take, and to eat as it can be seen on the last photo! It was very fun and delicious to make :D

Winged Apple Kookith
by sasaki_kyomi
This little fellow was made using exactly one delicious apple! I used that gigantic knife to make the basic body shape, the carving knife for the smaller bits, and the potato peeler to get all the skin off and make touch-ups. The apple was soaked in lemon juice to keep it from getting brown and icky. Toothpicks were used to hold the more fragile pieces (ie: the wings) in their intended positions. Leftover apple skin made the stripes and fur patches, while the stem became the eyes and the mouth. I wish I didn't have to eat him now. :(

Halloween Puppyblew
by shortigal1224
Carved a cute little Halloween puppyblew. Don't let the horns scare you, he is as sweet as pie.. (Don't say apple pie around him) Materials used are listed in the photo. Enjoy!

Second Place

Seven lucky people have 10,000 NP, the Random Contest avatar and an item whizzing their way.

Fruity Baby Fireball
by anhongle
My Baby Fireball is not only bold with it's looks but also with it's citrus flavour! The main body was from half an orange, the flames were cut and shaped from two oranges and one lemon peel, the eyes were created from one blueberry cut in half, the pupils are the pulp from the oranges, and the smile is a blueberry skin. Everything is completely edible and will surely give you a much needed dose of Vitamin C. Yummy and equally good for you! :)

by bobrocks177
I chose to create a poppit since I have had mine for 4185 days. He's made out of a lemon and grapes with toothpicks for the antenna.

Pome fruit petpets
by choleross
Apples and pears belong to the same fruit family commonly known as Pomes. For this contest, I created 2 petpets, Scado and Green Snorkle. To make the Scado, I used pear, with already browning skin to match its neopets color. I peeled the skin and carved off some fruit to get the face of the Scado. I carved tomato for the lips and grapes for the eyes, finishing with leaves for the Scado's fins.

Gabar Apple Sculpture
by heavenly_angel_isis
My fruit sculpture is a cute little Gabar carved from an apple. He has apple seed eyes and mouth, and an apple stem nose.

rotawheel of apple
by noir_elf
i like green apple and rotawheel , i think if can make them together , il will be intresting :)

Apple Snorkle
by ribbitfrogg
I made a snorkle petpet out of an apple, apple seeds and lemon juice to keep it fresh! Yummy!

Apple Red Beekadoodle
by sakuracard123
This Beekadoodle is made from one whole apple! I used two paring knives to carve it freehand, and a total of four toothpicks to hold the pieces together. (Tails and wings are surprisingly difficult to keep in place!) The eyes are the seeds and the feet are small sections of the stem. The beak is made from the inside of the apple, too!

Green Shocket
by the_real_poetess_123
Zavinn's green shocket, Sidekick was made from a pear, with a little bit of blue food coloring for the eyes, and some toothpicks to help him stand.

by xl_flooney_lx
Made from Rock Melon, sliced apple (dyed blue), black grapes and tooth picks to hold everything together! He looks so good I dont want to eat him!

Third Place

Lastly there were 17 runners-up who will each receive 5,000 NP and the Random Contest avatar.
