Contest:
Altador Cup Strange Rituals!

What do you think your favourite Altador Cup players were up to while preparring for the games this year? Let's find out!

First Place

Five winners receive the Random Contest avatar, 15,000 NP and an item of DOOM.

Coconut Smash!
by amyerita5
During the lull before the start of a Yooyuball match, Team Mystery Island would break open coconuts as they step onto the field.

"It's an offering to Mumbo Pango for his blessings," forward Teylor Nix explains. "It's not just superstition though. Smashing a coconut is great stress relief and we get a nutritious snack out of it, too."

Calming, yet invigorating at the same time, no doubt this ritual primes the players to perform their best. Go, Team Mystery Island!

Getting ready for Make Some Noise!!
by fishpoots
Some people might think the Make Some Noise techo gets his eyes bloodshot from all the cheering he does. It's actually a careful cosmetic choice.

Get the team rolling!
by jacquelineramrez
Team Darigan Citadel is one of the most professionals teams in the Altador Cup, we are witness of their hard training trough the year, but do they rest?.
We asked Team Darigan captain Layton Vickles if they have a ritual or a form of relaxation before the AC starts, the captain told us that two days before the competitions they travel to the Jelly World to the top of a hill to roll down it in a friendly race with the teammates. The team believes doing this activity reinforces their bond and gives them luck.

It's clearly an unusual activity, though we believe Vickles put more dramatism into their ritual since we all know the Jelly World doesn't exist (The Citadel probably builds the jelly hill for the team to play with).

Big boy ritual

Krell Vitor fully rests before every game with his childhood Ghostkerchief rag doll!

A Nutritious Meal
by xorag
Ever wondered about Derlyn Fonnet and "Brains" Mortigan's "pen pals" relationship? Turns out, the reason for the odd friendship is their taste buds for brrraaaaiinnnsss!! The night before the first Altador Cup game [at midnight], Derlyn and Mortigan would share a "special protein dinner." This has been their pre-game ritual ever since their friendship started. They both believe that brains are the ultimate power food - especially right before a game... and the only way to get its full effect is to consume the brains fresh at midnight.

Second Place

Ten lucky people have 10,000 NP, the Random Contest avatar and an item whizzing their way.

WE NEED ALL THE LUCK WE CAN GET!!
by _vegetable_
Who cares if you fly everywhere?? Lucky boots are lucky boots! And Crade Talvos isn't going to start the game without them! (I hear Kiko Lake has the same problem...)

Squad Faerieland's New Strategy
by amarettoball
"What did we do for this year's Altador Cup? Well, let me tell ya, we ain't here to play, sonny. We had a heart-to-heart last year after the games, and we all decided that to bring home the cup, we gotta leave the old Team Faerieland behind. Ain't easy being at the bottom of the rung, I tell ya. I decided to eat like a champ and hit the gym, and my team followed, 'cause we stick together like glue. Ya see Harrence over there? The doc told her she had an iron deficiency, but instead of taking the supplements like they asked, she's straight up eating nails. Worrill permanently glued his hands to one hundred kilogram weights. We had to custom-order special gloves and slings to fit around them. Broan's actually the spokesperson for the Grooming Parlour's new waterproof mascara--just like her, it can't be removed under any circumstances. Kroe's the one that unsettles me the most, though--I'm afraid he'll just turn every single Yooyu that comes out onto the field into a fire type. Anyway, watch out for us; I reckon y'all will be seeing a mighty different Team Faerieland this year."

Derlyn Fonnet
by drkshark
Even the best of captains get stressed out sometimes! When that happens, Derlyn Fonnet likes to hide under her covers and sneak in a few video games. A couple of hours defeating some digital baddies and she's ready to get back to doing what she does best--Yooyuball!

Fighting for the Cup
by ellipses4k
As the goalie for Faerieland, I get a lot more "hooves on" with the Yooyus than most players. In order to get ready for those Mechanical and Fire Yooyus, I fight the Flaming Meerca in the Battle Dome! The Meerca's only a little bigger than a Yooyu, so it's good practice!

Dancin' Moves
by evilbackpackgirl924
Before making cool moves in the game, Lilo likes to make groovy moves on the dance floor!
Some jumpin' jams and bustin' beats helps Lilo to get pumped up to take on the field!!!

Space Daze
by hamster_z
Team Virtupets has worked really hard this year, and the players deserve a break from all the flying Yooyus before the upcoming Altador Cup. Weldar Xupenfarb was looking forward to unwind; play some Gormball and enjoy some yummy ice cream!

However, what he didn’t know was that the team’s leader, Keetra Deile, had something else in mind. There’s no way she would miss out on an opportunity to make their Yooyuball practice even more fun and challenging! The idea of combining Yooyuball and Gormball into one big and horrifying ball game sounded like a terrific idea to her. Poor Weldar found it all more stressful than relaxing.

Garven Hale's relaxing time
by lighters_
Garven Hale is a strong, fierce player. You may think that he would run a thousand laps around Krawk Island to gear him up, or even swim from Smugglers Cove to Mystery Island's Harbour. What he really does to prepare himself and relax is knitting. Hale spend a lot of time working on scarves, gloves, tuques and sweaters, all of them colorful. Right before the Altador Cup starts, he share his artwork with the team - and with his friend Slushie Slinger Waitress, of course.

Reply Hazy, Try Again
by shiin0tic
The captain of Roo Island, Lilo Blumario, looks to predict the future of his team this year! However, without an 8-Balls present, he decides to try using a Yooyu instead. The result... isn't that great.

Team Brightvale Book Club - List
by sthephanie
I think the Team Brightvale's strange ritual is reading a list of books related to Altador Cup and Yooyuball stuff before the Altador Cup Y13.

A Colorful Ritual
by temiree
In the weeks leading up to the Altador Cup, Rinok Fitel calms his nerves by painting in peaks of Terror Mountain. His painting methods maybe be odd, but just like in the arena, he knows how to get great results!

Third Place

Lastly there were 16 runners-up who will each receive 5,000 NP and the Random Contest avatar.
