Every week or so we have a new Random Contest. The rules and events vary from competition to competition. Below are the winners from the last contest. If you'd like to enter the current contest, wander on over to the Random Contest submission form and have a look at what the currently silly task is. If you think you're up for it, give it a shot and submit your entry. Contest: Recreation at its Finest Ever see an item that was so amazing that you wanted nothing more than to actually have it? We have too! For this contest recreate any Neopoint/NeoCash item of your choosing. First Place Five winners receive the Random Contest avatar, 15,000 NP and an item of DOOM. Darigan Ixi Morphing Potion by cyberfall I recreated the Darigan Ixi Morphing potion by taking a glass potion vial and using clay to form the shape of an Ixi around it. To produce the horns, I mounted wire on the clay for a base, wrapped it in aluminum foil, and finished it by shaping clay over it. Finally, I sanded the clay for a smooth finish before painting it, and lastly, coated it in a glossy glaze. Sword of Reif by flufflepuff A staple in mid to high-tier battling, the knowledge of this wonderful Hidden Tower blade is fairly common, but outside of said tower and the Neopian Marketplace, this item is very hard to procure. This Sword of Reif has somehow made its way out of Neopia into another dimension entirely. Would you look at that. And yes, this thing is as dangerous as it looks. With this blade in hand, youd be ready to take on any wraith or just about any challenger. Jhudora Snowglobe by ghostlylight Jhudora is my favorite faerie :D MiniMME11-B: Rotating Starry Night by little_dragon_32174 MiniMME11-B: Rotating Starry Night Light Inspiration: I chose to recreate this item because not only is it beautiful to look at, it also actually functions as a very useful real-world item. I’ve found that the starry patterns that it reflects on the walls are mesmerizing to watch, and it makes a wonderful night light to fall asleep to. I also wanted to challenge myself, because drawing and painting are one thing, but taking a two-dimensional image and figuring out how to bring it to life is an entirely different skill set that I wanted to learn. Although this project was difficult at times and took many, many hours to complete, I am very happy with how it turned out and I actually use it on a nightly basis now! Materials: 8in World Globe, 12in Floral Craft Ring (2), 14in Lamp Base, LED Lightbulb, Emler’s Foam Board (3/16” and 1/2” thickness), Wooden Dowels (Various sizes), Dremel Rotary Tool, Hand Drill, Wood Burner, Sharpie, Pencil, Ruler, Sand paper, Wood Glue, Epoxy, Coping Saw, Flush cut Saw, Exacto Knife, Paint (Various colors), Mod Podge (Matte). Process: I obtained a World Globe, dismantled it, and removed the paper map from the plastic globe. Next, I obtained a lamp base and cut a hole in the bottom of the globe so it would sit atop the lamp. I drew the shapes to cut out onto the globe, then used a Dremel tool and a wood burner to cut out each individual shape. I obtained two floral craft rings and some wooden dowels to create the “sunray” structure. I drilled a hole in the top of the globe so a wooden dowel could fit through. I attached this dowel to the sunray structure so that the globe was stabilized, but it could also rotate freely. I obtained two Elmer’s foam boards for the sunrays (3/16”) and base decoration legs (1/2”). I drew out each design on the boards and cut them out with an Exacto Knife. I used Mod Podge to seal each of the foam pieces to prep them for paint. I painted the globe, sunrays, base legs, and lamp base. I attached the foam sunrays to the sunray ring structure. Then I put the LED light bulb in the lamp, set the globe on the lamp base, and attached the sunray structure and base legs to the lamp base. This night light lights up, rotates, and projects starry images onto every wall in the room. Measurements: 26”H, 19”W, 8”D. Battle Jubjub Cake by nanirg This jubjub will blast you away! Second Place Ten lucky people have 10,000 NP, the Random Contest avatar and an item whizzing their way. Brucicles! by dark_lady_gray My favorite item through all these years has always been the humble Brucicle. Numerous in flavor, and bright in color, the hardest thing about making these little clay treats was resisting the urge to bite them. They stand only 4cm tall in all the original flavors :D Made of clay, paint and mini-popsicle sticks. Tooth Faerie Doll by feverpuff Im fond of faerie dolls, personally find them one of the prettiest things in Neopia. So Ive asked my 6-year old daughter which one is the prettiest of them all and she picked Tooth Faerie. So we made one together using doll modelling clay and other doll making stuff. Illusens Family Recipe Cake - Yum! by friend101253 "A tasty and treasured treat from the family of Meridells most popular faerie - Illusen!" - couldnt get better than that, eh? This cake is an old fashioned, buttery golden yellow cake that is filled and frosted with Illusens house vanilla buttercream made with the freshest Meridillian churned butter and specked with imported vanilla from Mystery Island. This cake is decorated with chocolate -molded into beautiful findings from the woods- and a white ganache marzipan. Enjoy! Neopets 18th Birthday Cake by hatuse This cake is by far my favorite Neopets item. Im by no means a baker, i dont even have a spatula. Im a front-end developer. I decided to take a risk and make something out of my confort zone. Five Books by herdygerdy I made five versions of Neopian books: Sakhmet Tales, Hubrids Book of Death, Ruling the Universe, Anubis Toxicology Reports (Abridged), and Thieves Code (the TCG version). All five are fully written inside with original stories based on the titles. Babaa Pull Along by kentuckyfrychickenrl Here's a recreation of the adorable Babaa Pull Along item, made with air-dry clay and acrylic paint. :3 Crab spaghetti by littlegirlydude They say Neopia is your oyster, but have you ever considered another type of shell for dinner? This dish may be a little irritable, but if you just leave it alone it might enjoy the meal by itself. Delicous! Bottled Air Faerie by lovethefaeriequeen The first time I played Tiki Tack Tombola over 15 years ago I won what I thought was a light bulb. I soon learned that it was in fact a Bottled Faerie... a Bottled Air Faerie to be exact. They may now be fading now but 15 years ago they were freshly bottled and at full strength. In my homage to the early days of Neopets I recreated a Bottled Air Faerie in an actual light bulb. She isnt fading... at least not yet. Coffee Beans Mugg by mustikeuh121 A coffee A Day Keeps The Doctor Away? :) Ever wanted to drink that special cup of coffee? Now heres your chance! Darigan Yooyu Plushie by tiffymew If I cant have official Darigan plushies, then Ill just make my own! Third Place Lastly there were 28 runners-up who will each receive 5,000 NP and the Random Contest avatar.
