Contest:
Wheels of Pins

Woosh!
Something is blowing in the wind and we think it should be pinwheels! So over the next couple of weeks we want you to create neopia themed pinwheels. Please do all of the work yourself. Your submission should include a picture of the pinwheel (preferably in action), and it should tell us what the pinwheel represents and what it is made from in the description. We will judge entries on fun, creativity, and their overall awesomness. :)

First Place

Ten winners receive the Random Contest avatar, 10,000 NP and an item of DOOM.

Pinwheel-quest II
by catchinglights
My pinwheel represents the amazing game, Neoquest II. Neoquest II is a journey that spans many of the main Neopian lands and I tried to capture each individual location, as well as the characters, in my design.

Pinwheel of transparent Korbat
by comendadorluizedu
A great toy for your Transparent Korbat! To do it I used bond paper, glue, scissors and transparent plastic. The nights will be more fun with this pinwheel!

Commemorative AC Yooyu Pinwheels
by emziie
This year was the first year I properly participated in the Altador Cup, and I loved it! So I decided to make Yooyu pinwheels in honour of the Altador Cup's biggest game, Yooyuball. These pinwheels would make a great addition to the AC memorabilia already available!

Misfortune pinwheel
by himari_sempai
I hope you like my pinwheel ^^ it is entirely drawn and done by hand, I only had colored pencils xD hope you like it. (espero que les guste mi remolino ^^ esta completamente pintado y hecho a mano, solo tenia lapices de colores xD espero que les guste.)

Sloth Clone Pinwheel
by hypoboys2
This pinwheel is a sloth clone head with the antenna(?) things being the actual wheel. It does spin and is made of construction paper, normal paper, black and red markers, a pencil, tape, scissors, thread, and plastic bricks for the stand. I enjoyed making it and am really happy with how it turned out. :D

Money Tree Pinwheel
by krissybabyy
what cuter then a Money Tree Pinwheel ;) I used twine, scissors, craft paper, & hot glue, and for the NP bags an old shoe lace and a pen.

Across Neopia
by madliesa
For my pinwheel I was inspired by the map of Neopia. I immediately imagined it as my pinwheel and got to work. A few papers and some acrylic paint later I had the world in my hands :)

Leafy Pinwheel
by spiffy_kitty
I just LOVE wearables, so I couldn't miss out on my chance to make one for myself! :D To make the staff, I used some wooden rods off of an old laundry hamper. The pinwheel blades, branches, and leaves are all made of foam. I painted the staff brown and added detail to the leaves and blades with green markers. :3 It's a little over 6 feet tall! Oh, and it really spins! Wheeee~!

Leaves of the Wind
by syndiee
This pinwheel shows the Earth Faerie's majestic wings--in both shape and design. It rests easily in the tree trunk (AKA the pinwheel holder) and then represents the leaves of a tree. The "doll", a recreation of the earth faerie, and tree were both made from clay, and everything else is paper.

Spinning Novas
by tardis_angel
These cute novas will twirl straight into the enemy! I colored each side of a sheet of with the respective colors of each nova, with the dark and ultra novas being the most difficult as each side had to have splotches of each colors to have the purple stay on the outside with white on the inside (or grey and black with the dark nova). After coloring, I cut out hexagons with rounded corners to form the nova's shape. The eyes are mounted on the push pin above the wheel, so they are always pointing the correct way!

Second Place

Fifteen lucky people have 5,000 NP, the Random Contest avatar and an item whizzing their way.

Zurroball Pinwheel!
by compaq0557
Pinwheels are always spinning, so what could be better to represent on a neopia themed pinwheel than the eternally spinning grundo from Zurroball? I made my pinwheel using various colours of construction paper, a paper stick, a fine tip permanent marker, pencil crayons, a little bit of white paint, glue, glitter, a hammer, and a nail. First, I folded a sheet of black construction paper into a pinwheel shape, and nailed it into the paper stick. Then, I sketched the grundo shape, and cut it out of purple construction paper. Next, I sketched and cut out the space suit shape out of white construction paper, and added colour with pencil crayons. I cut the grundo's badge out of blue construction paper, and used white paint to paint the N on. The grundo's features were cut from red, orange, and white construction paper, and decorated with white paint, and coloured with pencil crayons. Finally, I outlined and added detail with a permanent marker and a white pencil crayon before gluing the grundo onto the pinwheel. Then, just because I had a bunch of glitter sitting around, I sprinkled the pinwheel with some glitter. I hope you enjoy my submission. :)

Faerieland Pinwheel
by esmeetjuhhh
Materials used are sturdy paper, scissors, hole puncher, wooden stick, split pin, coloring pencils and a black fineliner.

Gobbler Pinwheel
by fioontjuh
This wheel is inspired by the one and only Gobbler Pinwheel. With it's bright colours and the cute Gobbler in the middle I thought it would fit perfectly in our vegetable garden. (I added pictures of the materials I used, the work still in progress and the end result!)

Air Faerie Pinwheel
by flames_unleashed
I decided to do a pinwheel based on an Air Faerie. The Air Faerie is in front, the wings (the actual pinwheel) is in back. It's made of paper, colored pencils, straws, a pushpin, a small bead, and lots of tape.

Colour Lillies Pinwheel
by gnomisa
This pinwheel was inspired by the Neopian flower the Colour Lilly. I felt the perfect place for a pinwheel was a garden and what is more natural to find in a garden than a flower. I chose Colour Lillies specifically for their vibrant color and pinwheelesque structure. I made the pinwheel using white computer paper, lots of markers, colored pencils, cardstock for support, a sewing pin, tape, glue, and a green neon bendy straw. Sorry for the terrible image quality but I'm working on a very old uncooperative computer.

Mutant Aisha Pinwheel
by joancrr17
This is my mutant Aisha pinwheel. It has stripes and even teeth like a mutant Aisha! The stick is made of rolled up construction paper and glue. The pinwheel itself is made from construction paper, glue, and of course, a pin.

Plushie Tycoon Pinwheel!
by kakkw13
Self-explanatory I hope:)

The Pinwheel Of Excitement!
by katietease
Representing everyone's favorite wheel, this pinwheel allows you to take the exciting, vibrant colors of the Wheel of Excitement home with you! This pinwheel is made out of folded computer paper, a piece of cardstock to give it support, a small pin to allow maximum spin-age, a dowel rod for a handle, and was colored with colored pencils. The picture on the right shows it in action on the porch of my apartment!

Darigan Heroes Pinwheel
by kirjing
I had always loved Darigan Citadel and the theme. So I made a pinwheel dedicated to Darigan! Purple and black, awesome combination.

Garin's Pinwheel pirateship
by lumiris
This ship represents Garin's pirateship. I used paper,a pencil, a bulletin board pin and some tape.

Poinsettia Pinwheel Wand
by ma_a_hii
I think I might have done this wrong. T_T After so long on making it, I thought what y'all meant by "neopia themed" was neopets themed. as in anything on the site. But now I think you meant like the map of neopia kind of thing. I hope I wasn't wrong! But my pinwheel is based off of the Poinsettia Pinwheel Wand. I really had fun making this and it was kind of a pain. The blades are made of paper and are coloured with coloured pencil. As is the leaves. The stick/handle is just a piece of wood we had laying around. It took like 2 days for me to make this. ._. I hope you like it, even if it is the wrong theme!

Toxic Pinwheel
by prada_prince
I begin by cutting out circular shapes out of the 3 coloured papers. As for the black circle, I created a silhouette of the toxic symbol. Glue all the 3 circles together with green on the back, yellow in the middle and the black toxic silhouette on the front. Once that is completed, I cut 3 equal lines and folded the edges to the center to create the pinwheel. Get a sturdy yellow straw and hold everything together using a small pin. Make sure your pinwheel can spin easily. Creating the barrel required recycling a toilet roll covered in black craft paper. I then decorated it with yellow strips and finished off with a toxic shape cutout for the top. Create a hole in the center to insert the pinwheel and you are ready to put it outdoors and watch this amazing pinwheel spin for hours!

Faerie Pinwheel
by steadykiaz
The idea came from the various faeries that I've encountered during my time on Neopets. Without them, I wouldn't have been able to train/change my pets the way they are now. The pinwheel represents the different faeries on Neo, namely, The Earth Faerie, Fire Faerie, Air Faerie, Battle Faerie, Queen Faerie (Fyora) and Dark Faerie. It is made of creativity paper, transparent file, lots of trial and error and a little bit of magic (from the help of the faeries of course). Who knows that a simple pinwheel could be so hard, yet fun, to make. :)

Fountain Faerie Pinwheel
by swissical
My pinwheel depicts the fountain faerie and her home, along with lots of swirls and rainbows. It is made using a piece of paper, colored pencils, a piece of scrap wood, and a thumbtack.

Paintbrush Pinwheels
by xiaolin10413
This garden of pinwheels features different paint brushes found across Neopia! Among the different paintbrush pinwheels, the highlighted ones are Faerie, Lost Desert, Maractite, Fire, Baby, Rainbow, Maraquan, and Eventide. This colorful set of pinwheels was created with some plain white paper, crayons of every color, push-pins, scissors, some wooden craft sticks, and a bit of hard work!

Third Place

Lastly there were 71 runners-up who will each receive 2,000 NP and the Random Contest avatar.
