Cooking with Friends

Hrmmm what do we need if we are going to cook...
Oh that's right! We realized that to start off the spring and the summer we have been wanting to do a bunch of grilling. However we don't have an apron to protect our clothes... Well that sounds like the perfect task for you for the next couple of weeks. Your task is to make an apron that makes you look like your favourite character, or that represents them in some way. Please do all of the work yourself. Your submission should include a picture of your apron, and it should tell us what/who the apron represents in the description. We will judge entries on how functional it is, creativity, and their overall awesomness. :)

Delina Apron

Inspired by Neopia's very own "good dark faerie" paradox, Delina, I crafted this apron using sewing skills and fabric paint. The bags were constructed to hold anything from Space Spice to Charcoal Jelly beans, while the belt has an extra loop for a Spatula of Wondrous Cooking. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to try my hand at Grilled Ummagine Slushie!

Whenever Mira, the Space Faerie, wants to grill up some Desu ribs, she grabs for her trusty apron. Mira's apron keeps her clothes nice and clean. It's awfully hard to get grease stains out in anti gravity.

Lawyerbot Apron

I decided that since this is the random contest and Lawyerbot is always here to make sure we're safe that I'd make an apron for him! Materials used:
Lots of fabric from old clothes
scissors
needle and thread
& glue
I added some usuki stuff for him too! Did you know the Usuki Baby Cupcake & the Babaa (from the Babaa Usuki Set) are actually pockets! So is the Lawyerbot bow at the top! Giving you plenty of space to hold your utensils/napkins/salt & pepper while your hands are full!


"Where's my Bacon!?" Apron

First off, what I loved about making this apron was there is no sewing involved. So if you love Plumpys as much as I do its a fun and easy project. Materials: Large white sheet, scissors, acrylic paint, paint brush.
Every morning I make bacon for breakfast, so I thought this was the perfect character to help me cook. I just took a large white sheet, drew a very simple apron outline. Cut the fabric around the outline. Once my apron had its shape I drew on an adorable happy Plumpy face. Next I painted in the golden/pink colors. When that dried I outlined the Plumpys features in black acrylic paint. Vuala! Your Plumpy apron is complete!

Underwater Cooking!

What a fun project! This Isca-themed apron will make the wearer feel positively magical, regardless of whether they decide to cook on land or in the sea! I started out with a simple white apron - everything in the final product is hand-sewn on, and the draping effect of Isca's wraparound top was actually more difficult to achieve than it looks. I cut two long strips of fabric, sewed the bottom layer to one side, and then sewed the top layer above it. The "ruffles" were created by sewing over the wrinkles in the fabric. Overall, I think it's an apron that Isca would be proud of. =)

For the Cooking With Friends Random Contest I made an Illusen inspired apron. This is the type of apron I would imagine Illusen using while whipping up a batch of Illusens Cream Cookies! The apron has Illusens classic Earth Faerie tones of green, with a earthy floral print. I sewed this apron entirely by hand with a needle and thread. It is made of 3 different colors of flame resistant cotton fabric. It features a cute ruffle on the front pocket and bottom. I stapled 3 pieces of paper together and cut out the bodice shape I wanted for use as a template.

For this contest, I decided to do a Judge Hog themed apron. What kind of cooking is cooking without JUSTICE? I decided to not only have the DoN sign on the apron, but also a nifty belt for all your cooking needs.
