Contest:
Paper Me Pretty

What to wear...
Have you ever wondered what to wear for those book fairs and special events? We were thinking some clothes made out of paper would be perfect! Your challenge for the next couple of weeks is to create clothes made out of paper. These clothes should be based on clothes from Neopets.com. You can model your creations or have a Pet, plushie or a mannequin model your creation, but please make sure that your face is not shown in any of the pictures. Please do all of the work yourself. Your submission should include pictures of your clothes and what they are of and how you made them in the description. We will judge entries on beauty, creativity, and their overall awesomness. :)

First Place

Six winners receive the Random Contest avatar, 10,000 NP and an item of DOOM.

Paper Crayon Wrapper Dress
by bre_lily
I decided to make the Crayon Wrapper Dress, I love anything rainbow and thought it would be a good dress for Springtime. I started by coloring the paper with pencils to make them look like crayon wrappers. I cut the paper to different sizes for the sleeves then used staples and double sided tape to stick everything together. Cant wait to wear it out!

Butterfly Dress
by keepbleedin
Probably a lot easier than trying to find the real thing.

Woven Paper Dress
by mysterioushadow
I have made a woven paper dress based on the woven straw dress from the Crafting faerie. I made the top of the dress by twisting strips of paper and then weaving them around pencils to make a chain link fence pattern. The belt and sleeves are a basic over under weave and the skirt is loosely twisted strips of paper. To finish everything is "dyed" with paint.

Carousel Dress
by neopian_luver_2001
Having loved circuses since I was a little girl, I couldn't resist recreating the Big Top Fortune Cookie's Carousel dress out of crepe paper, celophane, paper, construction paper, glitter paper...ALL THE PAPER and adhesive gems...with a bit of help from trusty friends: glue, scissors and tape.

Lily Pad Paper Dress
by sniprsub
This dress is made of old newspapers, dried leaves, glitter, ribbons, and a ridiculous amount of tape! The top half was made by cutting up newspapers into petal shapes and painting that, as well as a couple of dried leaves with different shades of pink, then sticking them together. The bottom half was made by folding a sheet of newspaper into a thin strip to form a band, then creating folds in a few other sheets and sticking it to the band (this was done a few times as there are two layers).

Here is my rendition of the gorgeous Iridescent Light Dress made entirely out of paper. I used yellow crepe paper alternating with layers of Japanese paper. For details, I cut out pieces of iridescent paper board with a craft scalpel knife on a cutting mat. To keep everything together I used tiny bits of two-way tape. And finally, for the belt, I used green non-woven paper ribbon. Yes, for once in my life I can confirm that a paper belt is a total waist of paper!

Second Place

Nine lucky people have 5,000 NP, the Random Contest avatar and an item whizzing their way.

Berry Zafara Chic!
by appleaccordian
Given the choice of any outfit in Neopia it was easy enough to decide on something berry themed and cute to boot! I used two sheets of plain printer paper, an entire pink colored pencil, and a little bit of brain power (plus tape). c:

Summertime Purple Aisha
by dededede123
I made three items for my purple Aisha plushie: Mystery Island Aisha Flower, Pink Codestone Lei and Island Feast Dress.

Materials
(1) ecru construction paper
(2) red and white washi paper with floral design
(3) purple construction paper
(4) tissue paper - pink, red
(5) scissors
(6) green floral wire
(7) hot pink crepe paper
(8) purple plushie Aisha
(9) double sided tape
(10) tape
(11) construction board
(12) origami paper - lavender, yellow, olive, pale yellow, red, white
not pictured: grey yarn, pink embroidery floss, scrap printer paper, pencil

The Mystery Island Aisha Flower is made from lavender origami paper and purple construction paper. I used double sided tape to attach the inner pink flower pattern to a square of the purple paper, then folded it into a four-petaled origami flower. I used an extra square one-quarter the size of the first to create the fifth petal and finished by taping a circle of yellow origami paper. The flower was attached to the plushie by threading floral wire through the center and then around the plushie's right ear.
The flowers of the Pink Codestone Lei are made from grey yarn, hot pink crepe paper and pink tissue paper (See "Making Flowers for the Lei"). The codestones are made of construction board, olive and pale yellow origami paper, and double sided tape. Using scrap paper for a template, I cut out codestone shapes from pale yellow origami paper and taped them to cutouts of construction board for stability. The codestone symbols were cut from olive origami paper and affixed with double sided tape. To put the lei together, I threaded pink embroidery floss through each codestone and flower.
The base of the Island Feast Dress is made of double sided tape, red tissue paper and floral washi paper. After making a pattern base from scrap paper, I cut out the shape from red tissue paper and then floral washi paper; these were taped together to give the washi paper more structur and mask its translucent quality. I taped pleated strips of ecru construction paper to the neckline of the dress for the edging. The belt is folded and pleated red origami paper taped together. The flower decorations are made of folded white origami paper flowers, cut ecru paper, and a small red tissue paper center.

Desert Lupe Plushie
by klc171991
First I cut out the mask in black construction paper. Next I cut out blue shapes and glued them onto the mask for the eyes, ears, and nose. Then I cut out pieces for the other items, adding layers of yellow paper to the collar and mask. I cut out strips of paper to make the belt and shoes. I cut out lots of shapes and colors to make the wings. I used a silver marker for the cuffs and tape to secure the mask.
Items are based on Lost Desert Lupe Mask, Collar, and Cuff. Ancient Wrap, Colourful Desert Wings, Flower Petal Umbrella, Golden Cobrall Belt, Silver Cobrall Cuff, and Shenkuu Warrior Princess Boots.

Halloween clothes!
by leitra
I decided to try and make my strawberry poogle plush into a scary halloween poogle!

Fyora Collectors Dress Scorchio
by princess_daisy186
I went through my Key Quest plushies and found my purple scorchio. Then I decided that the most complimentary color to purple is of course, pink. Queen Fyora's dress is probably one of the most iconic out of all the faeries and I decided it would be perfect to recreate. Because the dress is flowly and light, I thought that tissue paper would make the best material. I painted it with watercolors as closely as possible to the original colors and design, and used glue and thread to sew the dress securely to the plush. The dress is quite durable and hasn't ripped once!

Baby Wearables from the NC Mall
by reayla
Who says baby pteris can't wear clothes? :) I used construction paper, tape, and scissors to make my some of my favorite baby clothes. The clothes featured here are: Baby Summer Wings, Baby Pajamas, and the Baby Spring Wig.

The Queem
by sacbin
My entry was inspired by Fantastic Ixi Cloak and Handmade paper valentine crown. They were first drawn on paper and then tried in my Acara plush. After experimenting, was drawn again to resize the clothes. After they were painted with colored pencils. To dress them in Acara Plushie, was used only engagement between cuts on paper. To give volume to cover, creases was made with the cutter. Materials used: canson paper, scissors, pencil, color pencil, cutter and a plush neopets.

Butterfly Dress
by spiffy_kitty
I made a Butterfly Dress out of construction paper, tissue paper, and glue!
The tissue paper in the wings was colored with water color. The black parts of the wings have a high-gloss glue coating.
The dress is a single piece, which stays on by itself, and is being modeled here by an old-school Aisha plush. I hope you like it! :3

Third Place

Lastly there were 25 runners-up who will each receive 2,000 NP and the Random Contest avatar.
