Quote of the Week

But, for the time being, Fanny revelled in flying and soaring through the clouds and particles of air. Each bone in her body felt perfectly in place. Small and refreshing droplets hit her face in irregular yet mathematically knowable intervals. She swore she could hear a beautiful music – the music of natural beauty – reverberate about her. She would never experience this again, she thought with a bittersweet sigh. At last, her flight came to an end, and the Spirit lowered her down just beside the bush through which she had passed into this Land of the Bizarre. “Thank you very much,” Fanny said affectionately as she hugged the air about her – which was mostly just hugging her own body.

The Latest in Mutant Fashion: 13 Lurid Looks

Mutant fashion is seldom talked about in Neopia. Their clothes and accessories do not receive as much attention as other painted neopets. In fact, it can be quite difficult to find any wearables that fit your mutant pet. More emphasis for fashion is placed on the “cuter” neopets and mutants have felt neglected. As mutant day approaches, we want to celebrate our less conventionally attractive pets and allow them to flaunt their stuff on the runway. We gathered 13 mutant models to show off various looks and outfits that hopefully awes the Neopian public and inspires mutant owners when dressing their pet. First up, we have Jack, a Mutant Jetsam, who is wearing...

Luxurious Chocolates: Rare and Tasty Treats

---Starring Walda the Baby Kacheek, Anjetta the Ice Draik, and Christine, their owner!--- Walda: Hi! My name is Walda, and I LOVE CHOCOLATE!!! It is my FAVOURITE food, and Neopia wouldn’t be complete without it. While my “babysitter,” my cousin Anjetta, is taking a nap like she always does, I will show you some rarity 100 chocolates in honour of the annual Chocolate Ball. (Not ALL of them, in the interest of time. Only the ones I find the most intriguing.) NO, you can’t have any! Where did I get such rare items? Well...I’m good friends with the Tonu who runs the Wheel of Extravagance. *shifty eyes* Christine and my siblings went to the Chocolate Ball WITHOUT ME...

Draik Day Decadence

Hey there Neopians! In honour of Draik Day, the kitchen staff at Meridell Castle are preparing a feast. I’m here to walk you through it so you too can celebrate these sons and daughters of Meridell at home. The feast consists of four courses starting with a Savory Cheese Drak Head paired with your crackers of choice. King Skarl won’t be eating this one himself but have no fear, the kitchen staff are preparing a special cheese-free starter for the King. Next up is the visually stunning, as well as totally delicious Draik Soup. For our entree, I’ll be walking you through preparing a delicious Draik Steak with mashed potatoes, gravy and asparagus. Finally, we’ll finish off the feast with a decadent Sparkling Draik Cake. So let’s get to it!

"The Chocolate Ball" by kaitlinhoneybee
Alternai looked in the mirror and hardly recognized herself in the reflection. She had dressed up in a Dreamy Faerie Dress accompanied with Quiggle Tea Party Shoes. The heels threw off her gait and she stumbled as she made her way to the door of her Neohome. She took a second to steady herself. It had taken her the better part of a year to purchase all these items. She could not walk into there stumbling like some clumsy newly created Neopet. It had taken her the better part of a year to buy all these items in preparation for the biggest night of her life. The evening sun cast a pink shadow on the icy terrain of Terror Mountain. Alternai took a deep breath, straightened her Diamond Yooyuball Earrings. It was time to go. Months of ignoring her friends in favour of spending time with Neopians in the upper echelons of Neopia had left her feeling isolated and resentful. She made her way down to Neopia Central. Her old friends refused...

"A Poogle Racer I'll Become" by x_mystichorse_x
I remember the sun shining bright in my eyes as I was waking up. I knew that day would be the perfect day to run around Neopia without feeling the cold weather against my face. I hadn’t been in Neopia Central long at that point, but the change of weather and areas to run in were much better than Terror Mountain; the next step would be Faerieland. Anything out of the snow and bad weather would be an improvement to my performances, and I was sure of that much! Although I can’t lie and mention that running in deep snow, blizzards and coming close to slipping all the way down Terror Mountain because of the bad weather truly did help my performance and activity level. Walking around the ice caves, I remember seeing Neopets training to go to the battledome, I remember others working at the ice cream cart or even with the wintery petpets. But none of those callings were meant for me, and as I previously mentioned, I didn’t fancy...

"Star Light, Moon Bright, Take Flight" by neoghia
Year 13, The Month of Storing Shadows cast by the roaring fire danced along the walls of the room. Old tapestries and cracked stone came to life with the war of light and darkness. The room smelled of smoke and cocoa. A mature Draik stood before the enormous fireplace and peered in at the flame. His golden scales shone in the light. Behind him, on the long couch, a small Xweetok boy lay curled and fast asleep. The Draik, Sendore, was restless despite the late hour, for his thoughts had turned sour when the young prince fell asleep. He looked back at his young ward, who was breathing heavily in his slumber. An empty, overturned mug lay next to him. This was supposed to be a simple job, just to get me by for a while and here I am two years into caring for this boy all alone. And what about the crown? How can an old pirate act like a king... or raise one? How can I be like a father when I never knew mine? He shook his head as if that would clear the thoughts from his mind.
