Quote of the Week

"I like to think she will, after all, heroes never die—they just go away for a while. She was a hero once. I believe she can be a hero again. The question is whether she believes it."

Ex Altador Cup Players

Where are those players who used to play in the Altador Cup? What about their lives? Do they plan to make a comeback? What have they been up to all these years? Of course I’m thinking of fan favorites like Bertie Shurtz from the team Mystery Island and Babolino from team Faerieland. So, I decided to take my notebook, my golden feather and head up to the different locations where these players live to see if I could get some interviews.

Leaders of All Time

Neopia has countless of leaders: from Governors to Kings and Queens, all of them rule their land with passion and strength. King Altador. This Lupe is not only the leader but also the founder of Altador, and he rules together with the council, which members are loyal friends of the King; each one specialized in a field that leads Altador towards peace and well being. He is known for his strength, his wisdom, and his concern of being a good King for his people.

Neopian Royalty

Neopia is a vast world with many different lands, a rich history and a long list of characters. In this article we shall gaze upon royalty as we learn more about the leading ladies of Neopia, the queens and princesses. You have undoubtedly come across one or several of these characters while browsing the site, as most appear both on items or in games. You may have wondered who they are or where they come from?

"We Are Made of Choices" by cosmicfire918
Perhaps not so much reading, as reminiscing. His paw pads traced the titles on the spines of the history books, reminding him that he actually remembered so much of what they called “history” these days. In Neopia, he thought, heroes never died—they just went away for a while. He had been away for a while. Every year, Finneus added more books from lands outside Altador, and it astonished the king just how much had transpired during his thousand-year slumber. Meridell had barely been a coalition of tribes a thousand years ago—now it had been through a war and back, gotten tangled up in a time warp, and then another war on top of it all. It was going to take another millennium, Altador thought, just to get caught up with everything that had happened in this one. His paw paused over a very familiar title. Defenders of Altador. The king sighed and his ears drooped. This was his annual ritual. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he pulled the book off the shelf. There was himself and Jerdana on the cover. They should all be on there, he thought—all twelve of them. They had all made this land what it was.

"The King of Qasala" by seraphfire
Jazan contemplated telling them about his fears, but decided against it. He couldn't bear the thought of bothering Nabile with such concerns, and was worried that the Nightsteed would do something rash to settle the issue. Of course, the general public of Neopia was under the impression that his father HAD returned, bound under tight control, for last year's Heroes vs. Villains Daily Dare, but the truth was that was simply a robot that the Avinroo family commissioned a team of Moltaran and Kreludorian scientists to create a robotic likeness of him. Jazan felt so much disgust at the event. He did not consider himself to be a hero, and felt unworthy to serve as the mascot for that side of the challenge. He also thought that the robotic form of his father was a terrifying abomination. He feared the mere sight of it, and had even speculated that it could possibly serve as a vessel for his father's spirit to return to Neopia. His father was knowledgeable in arcane arts from all around the world, and it wouldn't surprise him if Mystery Island or Shenkuu or even the nomadic tribe living in the nearby Haunted Woods had an long forgotten spell that could allow him to control a likeness of himself.

"Dear Sally" by parody_ham
Dearest Sally... The words dance across the parchment in the waning candlelight. I dip the quill in ink once again, letting it hover over the page before crumpling up the paper and tossing it into a waste bin. I gnarl my hands into a fist, cursing under my breath. How do I even begin to write to her after all these years? What would she even think of me? “Woooo,” murmurs the Darigan Weewoo perched upon a stand near my desk. Its head is tucked under its wing while its half-open eye gazes towards me in unfocused attention. “Apologies, old friend,” I say. I graze the back of the feathered Petpet with my hand, lulling it back to sleep. After a quick glance at the large piles of discarded parchment, I sigh. It had been a valiant attempt to write to her, but that is all that could be said of the act: an attempt. Opportunities to write for pleasure became few and far between, and the few times they presented themselves were late at night, when only the eve’s guard could sanely claim alertness. The rest of my time had been filled with other, more pressing, matters.

The King of Qasala
He looked out the window, and saw the sun rising over Qasala. Just as the dawn passed over his kingdom, a thought had dawned on him. He could learn light magic, the magic of the sun and goodness and life. If his father ever returned, he could defeat him using these powers, and prevent risking his return to corruption from needing to once again fight fire with fire.
