Six months ago I was strolling through the long halls of the pound, three pets in tow behind me. All in the party had agreed it was time to invite a new companion into the ranks, though everyone seemed to have a different idea of what our new ideal friend would be like.

"Another Aisha! It's impossible not to love a cutie with stalks like these."

"I don't know about that; I was thinking a Grarrl could really help us all feel a little safer at night..."

"What?"

"Well, Zzi's not exactly formidable..."

"A Wocky! They're so fluffy!"

"I don't know..."

"What about a Techo?"

"What don't you understand about the word fluffy?"

You get the gist. The conversation was extensive, and none of us could agree on the best "choice" of adoptee. We had browsed Rainbow Pool Weekly endlessly looking for a complementary aesthetic for the gang, but page after page led us to the conclusion that we were really just a rag-tag team of mismatched, albeit somehow well-tailored together misfits anyway. Matching our "style" wasn't exactly a thing of divine taste. In the end someone suggested we end the debate and start the search, and that we did.

The walk into the pound was easy enough, but the halls extended beyond our fields of vision no matter how long we walked, all the rooms filled with forlorn faces of some very cute, and some not-so-cute (and some fluffy, some not-so-fluffy) Neopets. It might not be such an easy task. However, the sweetest face of them all turned out to be a small yellow Moehog, fast asleep in his bed. His species had never been brought up in the discussion, in neither the yeas nor nays. The information sheet said his name was simply "Porkabu." We all stopped to watch his little snores, and I am fairly certain all heads were atilt in awe of the cuteness.

None of us had even spoken a word to or about the little guy, but that was that. He was our new best friend.

An eye slowly opened at us, and the snoring mostly stopped. Luna ran up to him and held him tight, her eyes welling up in a "Can we keep him? Can we?" expression, which was unnecessary since we all shared the same sentiment. I quickly signed the required paperwork, and we brought the new guy home.
