What's in the Bag?

     That's right, it was Neo's birthday, but it was us, the players, who got the gifts!!!

     And as this year marks the site's 24th anniversary, we've gathered all the Birthday Bags (of Neopoints) here to remind you what you can win when you open them.

     Starting with the first bags that were launched, to make up for the previous years when there were no bags, TNT launched FOUR at once: Yellow Birthday Goodie Bag, Orange Birthday Goodie Bag, Striped Birthday Goodie Bag and Balloon Birthday Goodie Bag.

     And what better way to celebrate a birthday than with balloons, whistles, sweets and cake? TNT certainly knows what a birthday party can't be without!

     Each of these Birthday Bags contains 16 exclusive birthday items. There are 4 types of birthday balloons, 4 birthday cakes, 4 birthday Nova sweets and 4 birthday whistles. By playing with your Pet, you can win one of each of the exclusive items, which are given away at random.

     Of course, these days, finding these bags to buy is somewhat rare, as they have been removed from the toy store and so the items they contain are also somewhat rare.

     Moving on to the following year, we have the following Birthday Bag: Neopets 5th Birthday Goodie Bag

     That year, TNT launched only one anniversary bag to commemorate the current year. The 5th anniversary bag, unlike the previous year's bags, contains only three groups of four exclusive anniversary items: balloons, blowers and party hats!

     Also unlike previous bags, both the bag and the items that can be obtained from it have ended up not rising in price much over the years, but they are still very cool items for collectors of the theme, whether people collect the bags themselves or the anniversary items.

     The following year, we had another new Birthday Goodie Bag: Neopets 6th Birthday Goodie Bag

     This bag, like its predecessor, has three groups of four exclusive birthday items: blowers, candies and birthday hats.

     This little bag and the items too, although removed, are also very easy to find and with a simple search in the shop wizard you can get them all very easily.

     During the dramatic and spooky Tale of Woe Plot, TNT was sure to celebrate another anniversary of the site and, of course, by launching another new Birthday Goodie Bag for us: Neopets 7th Birthday Goodie Bag.

     This bag once again contains 16 items, just like the first ones, with four groups of exclusive 7th anniversary items: balloons, pinwheels, tambourines and candies. This bag can still be found at Shop Wizard, as can its very cheap items.

     In any case, if you put together the items from the first bag, the second bag, the third bag and this one, you can already set up a birthday party, right? You'll have balloons, cakes, sweets, hats, whistles, pinwheels, tambourines and everything else you need to put together that super fun birthday party.

     Arriving at the Year 9 of Neopia, the 7th year goodie bag has been retired, giving way to the beautiful new one: Neopets 8th Birthday Goodie Bag

     This is one of the most expensive bags, with exclusive items that are also rare. It used to have a rarity of 80 when it was sold in the toy shop, but when it was retired (which always happens when the next one is released), its price went up considerably. Nowadays, you can only find it through the Trading Post or Auctions.

     And when you play with your Pet with it, you can find some exclusive birthday items. There are a total of 16 items, including four types of candies, four types of birthday hats (which are wearable), four types of necklaces, and four types of toys.

     With a very similar design to its predecessor, in the next year, we saw the arrival of the Neopets 9th Birthday Goodie Bag.

     It is also currently one of the most expensive bags, and can only be found through the Trading Post and Auctions. This bag also contains up to 16 exclusive birthday items, which are also rare and valuable.

     It includes four different types of birthday cake hat and four different types of codestone lei, all wearable, to get your Pet in the mood for a birthday party. There are also four different types of lollipops and toys.

     The new Neopets Birthday Goodie Bag launched in Y11 was: Neopets 10th Birthday Goodie Bag

     Unlike the last two bags, this one isn't as expensive, although it can currently only be purchased through Trading Post and Auctions, its price is still a little lower than the last two.

     This bag also has a special feature as it can give away some items that are not exclusive. There are 13 different types of cakes. It also contains 23 different types of Plushies, which are also non-exclusive. These common items are cheap and of low rarity, but what makes the bag extra special, which justifies its slightly high price, is that there is the possibility of getting an exclusive anniversary background: 10-Year Celebration Shield Background, which is also very rare and expensive.

     Of course, getting it isn't that easy. Your Pet may have to play with more than one bag to get your hands on this gem.

     Next up is the Neopets 11th Birthday Goodie Bag which was launched in the year 12.

     This bag is also quite rare these days and has a very high price tag, which is difficult to estimate. Just like the previous bag, this bag won't present you with exclusive birthday items when you open it! Well, we mean, not the regular prizes, at least, just the bonuses are exclusives.

     Inside you can find 7 different types of cheap, low-rarity cakes and 13 cheap, low-rarity Plushies. But what sets this bag apart is precisely the bonus or rather the bonuses. That's right! In the plural. This bag has three bonus items, all wearables: Birthday Streamers, Gold Neopets Star Chain Necklace and Star Gazing Background.

     All three are not easy to get (at least not all of them, at first) and you can't choose which one you'll get (if you get).

     The next bag we're going to talk about is the 12th Birthday Goodie Bag, launched in the year 13.

     The bag released that year, which is currently 180 rarity (retired), is also an expensive and rare bag and, this time, it's not because of its bonus item, which in turn is the same one that can also be obtained in the previous year's bag: Birthday Streamers. (This one might be a little easy to get… and you’ll see why later…)

     What makes this bag rare is that it does have some exclusive birthday items that can be obtained. There are 10 different types of cakes, including two that are exclusive to the bag, and 14 different types of Plushies, two of which are also exclusive to the bag. All four of these exclusive items are expensive and rare and, within even a small prize pool, are still difficult to obtain.

     The Neopets 13th Birthday Goodie Bag is considered ‘cheap’ among the bags that can only be obtained through the Trading Post or Auctions.

     This is because, when playing with it, you can only get four exclusive items, two different types of cakes and two different types of Plushies. Because it only has four obtainable items, this makes it a little cheaper than the others, but what makes it expensive enough not to be found in Shop Wizard is that it has three bonus items: Birthday Streamers (again, see?), Star Wings (wearable) and Springabee (yes, the cute Petpetpet).

     Bringing hot news, rare and exclusive items never seen before, the new bag launched in year 15, was the Neopets 14th Birthday Goodie Bag.

     It's currently a high-value bag because, although it only has 9 items (and no bonuses) inside, it's in this bag that your Pets can get the first Birthday Petpets ever released: Kadoatie, Meepit, Warf and Alabriss.

     This colour of Petpet is exclusive to the bag and there is no Paintbrush that can transform your Petpet into this colour, so you can only get them from it (or from those who got them from it). In addition to the Petpets, you can also get two Plushies, two foods and one more wearable: Stack of Cupcakes Foreground.

     Released in the following year, the Neopets 15th Birthday Goodie Bag followed the same pattern as its predecessor, bringing new rare and exclusive birthday items.

     This bag was a continuation of the Birthday Petpets that were launched the previous year. The bag also has only 9 items, including the cupcake foreground, which had already been launched with the previous year's bag, as well as two food items.

     And although it doesn't have any bonus items, it does have two exclusive items: a cake and a book. Plus, of course, the beloved Birthday Petpets: Noil, Babaa, Faellie and Ukali.

     Lovely, isn't it?

     Continuing the Neopian tradition of Birthday Bags, we've reached the year 17, where we were presented with the Neopets 16th Birthday Goodie Bag.

     This bag still follows the pattern of the last two with Birthday Petpets among its gifts. However, it has 11 items instead of just 9. There are four Birthday Petpets: Hasee, Nuranna, Quadrapus and Turdle. There's also the infamous Stack of Cupcakes Foreground and Birthday Streamers, which we've seen in other bags too, plus a new wearable: Birthday Gift and also two exclusive foods and two exclusive Plushies.

     With unique items like this, it's only fair that the bag, once removed, should have had a considerable increase in value, right?

     The following year, as standard, a new goodie bag was launched: Neopets 17th Birthday Goodie Bag.

     This bag also contains 11 items, including four Birthday-coloured Petpets, an exclusive birthday hat, two exclusive Plushies, an exclusive cake, food and also a birthday background, but which has a rarity of 76, so it is also stocked in the Mystical Surroundings. Plus, once again, we have Birthday Streamers among the items (see why it’s not quite that rare to obtain THIS particular bonus item?).

     The Petpets of the bag, which are, as always, the most beloved and eagerly awaited, are Angelpuss, Melve, Polarchuck and Snorkle.

     Moving on, we have the Neopets 18th Birthday Goodie Bag in celebration of the site's 18th birthday.

     Inside this bag, you can find up to 11 different items and, if you're very lucky, you can win up to three of them. This time, instead of 4 Petpets, there are 5, although one of them is repeated (Snorkle), but there's also Barlow, Mazzew, Lutra and Ona. Once again there are two exclusive Plushies and other items such as food and a toy.

     The new Birthday Bag launched the following year was the Neopets 19th Birthday Goodie Bag, but unlike its predecessors, it was not available to buy in the Toy Shop.

     That's right! Changing the dynamics of the game a little, the bag from that year was awarded as a prize for an event called the '19th Birthday Party', so it originally has a rarity of 101.

     This bag contains 10 birthday items, not all of them exclusive, since (again) we can find the famous Birthday Streamers, but following the pattern of its predecessors, this bag has 4 exclusive Birthday Petpets, they are: Bowla, Slymook, Filamen and Leeble. There are also three different types of food and two exclusive Plushies.

     The year the site is celebrating its 20th anniversary, the beautiful Neopets 20th Birthday Goodie Bag was launched, showing that gold was very much in fashion that year. This bag is once again stocked in the toy shop.

     Inside this lively, confetti-filled bag, there are up to nine exclusive items, but you can get a maximum of three if you're very lucky when your Pet plays with it. Showing that TNT is a big fan of the idea of Birthday Petpets, which have been very popular among players, this bag continues the tradition by containing the following Birthday Petpets: Feloreena, Flowper, Icklesaur and Slorg. There are also two exclusive Plushies, as usual, two toys and a cake.

     The Neopets 21st Birthday Goodie Bag was launched the following year and is also stocked in the toy shop.

     This bag also follows the pattern of the other bags released in recent years, which contain up to 9 exclusive items, but instead of 4 (or 5) Birthday Petpets, this bag contains up to 6 exclusive Birthday Petpets. That's right, SIX! And no repeats.

     The exclusive Petpets are: Doglefox, Erisim, Grackle, Harris, Kazeriu and Kookith. All very cute with their birthday-themed designs. In addition, the other three items in the bag are: Cupcake Plushie, Kaleidoscopic Jar and Rainbow Rock Candy.

     Although cool, it's undeniable that most Neopians are really interested in those cute Petpets, am I right?

     The following year we had great news, as the Neopets 22nd Birthday Goodie Bag was launched with a pleasant surprise for stamp collectors.

     Yes, that year's bag contains a collectable album item: Neopets 22nd Birthday Stamp. Until the end of the following year, however, the stamp was an exclusive bag item but was eventually added to the Hidden Tower, making it accessible even without the bag, but at a reasonable price.

     Despite the collectable album item, there are 9 other exclusive items: 4 Birthday Petpets (Gruslen, Schnelly, Snowickle and Yooyuu), a book, a gift, a toy and two foods.

     Finally, we come to the Neopets 23rd Birthday Goodie Bag, which was released last year (Y24).

     Note that at the time of writing this article, a new bag has not yet been announced, so this is the latest we have information on.

     Even though it's a buyable bag in the toy shop, this simple little bag is already worth enough to be found only through the Trading Post or Auctions (aside from the toy shop, of course). The reason? Not only does it contain beautiful Birthday Petpets much desired by players, but also a collectable album item: Birthday Coin.

     We still don't know if the coin will be added to the Hidden Tower, as was the case with the last Stamp from last year’s bag, but so far, the only way to get it (apart from buying it from another player) is through this Birthday Bag - if you're lucky, of course.

     Other items inside are the Birthday Petpets: Raindorf, Wherfy, Wibreth and Xampher. There's also: a toy, a Plushie, a crown (wearable) and two foods.

     And after seeing all these little bags, these themed and commemorative birthday items, I'm sure you're excited about this year's celebration, aren't you? And I'm sure you're also craving birthday cake!!! Hehe (I know I am!)

     So, all we can do is wait to see what awaits us in this year's bag and what we can get when we open it. Once again, it’s Neopets' Birthday but we are the ones who get the gifts!
