Chapter 9: Light at the End of the Tunnel
The gang tries to find a way through the mysterious door within the tunnel, but it seems to be locked by some kind of ancient device. This shortcut may not turn out to be as short as they were hoping!
Baelia
Are you two okay?!
Tavi
Yeah… I think so. Nyx, how did you know?
Nyx
I… I’m not sure. I heard that music again, but this time it sounded like alarm bells clanging inside my skull. It had me moving before I could even think…
Baelia
I’m so glad you did!
Tavi
I’m pretty concerned about you both hearing things, but I suppose we have bigger issues to worry about for the moment.
Tavi
For now, we should try again and you two listen out for any more…signs.
Baelia
What? No! Nyx saved you by mere seconds, and we aren’t even sure how to solve this one yet.
Luxinia
Plus, each room seems to be getting harder and more dangerous as we press on. We need to be careful. There’s no telling what could happen.
Tavi
I know, but what other choice do we have? We need to get out of here as fast as we can.
Baelia
Listen, I’ve gathered the other items from around the room, and they’re all in shambles. Perhaps we’re meant to fix them?
Nyx
I don’t know, some of these seem beyond fixing.
Juni
Yip. Yip, yip.
Nyx
Yeah, it does seem like there are exactly the number of items as there are placements. Which means Tavi was probably right on what to do.
Luxinia
Just not how it’s done…
Tavi
The only reason I put the scroll there is I figured it had to have come from the Lost Desert.
Tavi
But since that doesn't seem to be the right answer, I’m not sure where to put it now. So I think Baelia has a point. Maybe fixing them could help us figure that out?
Baelia
Yes, I could fix these. I’m sure of it!
Baelia
But, it would take time… especially for whatever this pile of debris used to be.
Nyx
I don’t know if this will work… I’m sure you’re a great crafter Baelia, but some of these items are so worn down I’m not sure they could be repaired. Fixing these could take up time we don’t have, and may even turn out to be a pointless endeavor.
Baelia
So, how are we supposed to solve this then?
