Short Story Jamboree

My Neohome
by shadih_temporary

"Maybe it wasn't so smart to let the construction workers build my home anywhere in Faerieland," Timble, a Cloud Scorchio thought as he hopped out of bed and traveled downstairs. "I better check the cloud it was built on, just in case it needs to be rebuilt somewhere else,"

As soon as Timble stepped off the front porch and onto the cloud, he slipped on the wet cloud. Timble moaned. "I don't see anything wrong with the cloud. And it's too rainy out here. I'll just go back inside..."

Timble placed his right hand on the cloud to push himself up, when he noticed something odd. The part of the cloud his hand had touched had turned purple. Timble touched the part of the cloud right next to it. It, too, turned purple.

"What the...?" Timble said aloud.

He rubbed his eyes with his hands so that he could get them dry again. Timble then opened his eyes and faced the part of Faerieland that wasn't sitting on his cloud.

"No," Timble was wide-eyed. "I must be dreaming!"

The rest of the city was completely dry! Yet, rain and thunder still filled the sky above Timble's cloud.

"Why is it only raining on my cloud?!" Timble stomped his foot in rage. As he slammed his foot down, the whole cloud turned a dark purple.

"Ah, I believe you mean MY CLOUD!" cried an angry, female voice.

And then, the shadowed figure of a wingless faerie broke through the cloud. A purple and green dress adorned the Faerie's slim figure. As the thunder boomed, the Faerie flung her arms in the air, allowing her dark purple and dark green wings to spread.

Jhudora.

Timble gasped in horror and took a step back. But a ring of green fire suddenly circled the Scorchio.

"Never again shall you reside on MY cloud!" Jhudora screeched.

She cackled evilly as the ring of green flames suddenly closed in on Timble, wiping Faerieland clean of his existence.

"Alle, every house we have built on that cloud has disappeared entirely! Along with the pet who bought the house! I say we stop building there."

Alle, the Faerie who sold Timble his home, didn't reply.

The Fire Faerie sighed. "Say, Alle, do you at least have the paperwork on that house? So we can look over how it was built and all."

Alle shook her head, again. "I—er—I lost it."

The Fire Faerie rolled her eyes and stomped out of Alle's office. Alle plopped down and removed the paperwork for Timble's home and a rusty key from her shoe. She unlocked a desk drawer and stuffed it in there, along with hundreds of other papers on the same house.

Suddenly, a Pink Wocky raced into her office, speaking frantically.

"Excuse me, Ms. Alle? May I please buy a house here?!"

Alle smiled. She knew just where this Wocky could have her house built...
