Quote of the Week
The Haunted Woods has not always been his home but it undeniably is now, no matter how far he travels from it or how long he’s gone. There’s been a part of him deeply rooted there since the day he first step foot in the woods, nervous and unsure.
It welcomed him the way nowhere else has before.
Illusen Day Recipes
Illusen has decided to share two of her top-secret recipes with the Neopian Times so that pets all over Neopia can celebrate Illusen Day with some delicious baked goods. We are very lucky that Illusen has shared these recipes with us. Instead of buying Illusen Day cakes and cupcakes in the baked goods shop, pets can bake these delicious sweets at home. Enjoy, and don’t forget to share with others! |
Illusen: Head To Toe
What better way to celebrate Illusen Day than by dressing up as Illusen herself, the most famous Earth faerie in Neopia. Illusen is not just one of the prettiest faeries, she is also one of kindest. Unlike most faeries in Neopia she resides in her glade in Meridell. She loves visitors and richly rewards the kind Neopians who complete her challenging quests. In honor of one of Neopia's most well-known faeries I am going to show how you could look just like Illusen. |

Other Stories |
"Illusen's Day Off" by sparktater Poor Illusen had to deal with a lot of this- angry pets who had just missed out on their window for quest items, sending them back to the beginning. It wasn’t uncommon to get aggressive pets and even owners as a result. She had been threatened several times and with violence more than once. It made her long standing feud with Jhudora look like a playground disagreement!
Whilst on the whole she loved giving out faerie quests in her home of Meridell, she couldn’t deny it also presented its own problems. She looked over towards the Acara who was still standing by the door, now being screamed at by his furious owner who did indeed miss 1.5 million NP from her shop till. The Acara cheekily suggested being painted with said paint brush, only to be dragged away by the arm back home.
Illusen sighed. She had been living here giving out quests for 15 years, night and day. She hated to refuse a pet, even if they woke her up at 3am! She only ever got one day off a year. That would be Jhudora day, on which she had to watch Neopians celebrate her arch-nemesis. That wasn’t entirely why she didn’t give out quests, but it seemed to her to be a good a day as any other to get a well-deserved vacation. The true reason why, she had actually totally forgotten, along with why she hated Jhudora in the first place. |
"Soup Faerie Appreciation Day" by 77thbigby As they approached the quaint soup pot shaped building in the fading light, walking past the empty picnic tables that held hungry Neopets, it suddenly felt unfamiliar to X. He wasn’t used to the quiet and stillness of a place usually full of life. He hesitated before the round wooden door, propped open during business hours. This was harder than he thought it would be. He was swamped with memories.
The spotted Gelert could remember the first day he had come to the Soup Kitchen: lost, alone and hungry. The Soup Faerie’s soup-he couldn’t remember the flavor-was really the best he had ever tasted. The Soup Faerie did not just fill the young Gelert’s belly. She had also helped to guide him in numerous areas. That was what had stayed with him over the years.
Even after X had no longer needed to eat there, he had returned as a volunteer. He had soon become the most dedicated, hard-working and passionate volunteer the Soup Faerie had ever had. Like her, he inspired others to be their best selves. He helped to keep the peace with the many hungry Neopets that came to the Kitchen, served soup, made supply runs, cleaned dirty dishes, counters and tables, and encouraged other more fortunate Neopians to give of their time and money to this worthy cause. Now, it was all coming to an end. |
"The Forgotten Hollow" by eevee0011 The Aisha held it tightly to her chest for a moment before she gently placed it next to the clothes.
There wasn’t much else to grab. Some stockings, an extra pair of boots… a hat. She folded everything as quickly as she could—the maid would’ve been aghast had she seen the results—and shoved it in an old, battered suitcase. She rushed down to the kitchen where she grabbed a sack and filled it with everything she could put her paws on. Apples, pears, a small ham that lay forgotten in the ice box. She grabbed the bag of petpet food and stuffed it inside as well, though she wasn’t sure Topaz even needed it anymore.
The former Doglefox waited back at the door to her room. He yipped softly as he waited for her to stuff the food in amongst the clothing, and trailed her so closely that when she dragged the suitcase back into the hallway, she nearly stepped on him. She stopped, forcing herself to pause. Breathe. She glanced down the hallway. She would probably never walk across these floors again. She would never pass by the portraits of her family, her ancestors… she’d never slide down the railing again to see if she could do it faster than her brother.
She would never again huddle in her room and wonder why everyone had gone mad all of a sudden. Just after that mysterious figure with the Hissi Oil potions… |

Soup Faerie Appreciation Day They both owed much to faeries, which was why they were drawn to Faerieland. They wanted their future children raised in a place where such goodness was in evidence everywhere you looked. They knew they were making the right choice. Now, there was only one thing left to do.
They went to say goodbye.
