The hourglass' outer casing is made of a virtually indestructable metal alloy, and the sand that courses through it is made of finely shaved marble grains.

The stone hourglass is highly coveted by Battledome competitors because of its unique ability to speed up time. By momentarily speeding up the passage of time, the hourglass briefly activates an accelerated erosion process. This process then turns your opponent's stone snowballs to dust, leaving them at a significant disadvantage.

The ability of stone hourglasses to neutralise a Battledome weapon as powerful as the stone snowball, combined with the fact that there are but a handful in existence, make them one of the most expensive items in all of Neopia. Valued at nearly a million NPs, only a privileged few know how it feels to possess its power.
