The Good-bye

I've been wandering in the woods for days
Searching for that one place I could call home
You looked for me, but I hid my shameful face
You've been so good to me, but now I must go

This is me, so look at me and try to understand
Like the way many times you have done so
As I climb over mountains, drag through sand
You don't have to follow me, I won't forget you

I'm a grown NeoPet now that's why I must learn
The living of alone and surviving out there
I tried, I really did, to hide from you my concern
Because we've been together so long and now...

I'm not so sure that we could live apart from
Each other, but I'll be strong for you
For the best owner who gave me the best home
But try to understand, as I disappear with the sun

Gyka sat on the edge of his bed and took a deep yawn. Remembering that he could be hanging out with his friend all day long because it was a Saturday, he slid down stair railings for breakfast hoping to get out of the house as soon as possible. He grabbed a Hot Dog and some Milk, then was just about to leave, when his owner stopped him saying, "Where are you going?"

"To see my friends," answered Gyka.

"Okay, stay out of trouble," said his owner.

Gyka ran out of the house and while gulping down his breakfast, rod on a scooter to get to the gang house. There were quite a few NeoPets there, but he noticed that it was a little different. It has been always a little different in the Saturday mornings, because the younger pets were all at Saturday school and could only be free in the afternoon. So there was only the oldest pets of owners there.

"You know," SkarIX was saying when Gyka entered, "we've been with our owner the longest; I wonder what is out there in the wild."

"I'm not sure," said Pozialle thinking about it, "but I heard that it's really dangerous out there."

"I never missed an adventure," said Yamakarasu grinning.

While the NeoPets talked about wild life, Gyka thought about the day he was born.

*Flashback*

"Gyka, I will always love you and I will never leave you. We will eat together, live together, and be together till the end. If I ever was forced out of the NeoPets world, I will sneak back to see you and look after you forever. There's nothing that anyone could do to keep me away from you, and I would never give you to anyone else either." His young owner had said it at Gyka's birth.

Gyka that time, though very young, managed to say in his babyish voice, "Me love you too!"

*End Flashback*

And with that, Gyka could never imagine his life without his owner. He also knew that many owners made some kind of promise to their NeoPets too.

"Hey, we are grown pets now," said Exlund, "maybe we need to get out of this dump."

These words snapped Gyka right back into the room. He stared at Exlund for a little while and then burst out, "And get killed?!"

Chippy2000 laughed a little and said, "Gyka, we won't get killed. Come on, all of us together are probably stronger than most whole armies!"

"So what are you saying?" Gyka asked.

Chippy2000 sighed and said, "that we've been trained so well, it's could be true that our owners want us to go out for a while and see if we can survive out there."

"Hmm..." said Pozialle, "I'm not so sure about that, because after been with my owner for so long, I'm quite sure she doesn't want me to leave."

"Of course not," said SkarIX, "but you know maybe inside, our owners want us to take this test."

"Or maybe," added Chippy2000, "we are so grown now, we are suppose to leave and survive alone out there."

Nsynca put on a scared face and said, "My owner and I promised to never leave each other!"

"Mine too," Gyka added.

"So to conclude this discussion, I say we not go?" said Nsynca.

"Nah," said Exlund, "lets go! We need to learn how to find a home and live independently!"

"Yeah well, we still should stick together though," said Yamakarasu.

"Should we tell our owners that we are going?" asked SkarIX.

"Yeah, a letter will be good," said Chippy2000, "Now Gyka, Nsynca, Pozialle, and whoever protests this, are you guys coming or not?"

"Of course," said Gyka with sarcasm, "friends are more important than owners, right?"

Nsynca just nodded and sighed. It turned out that everyone there was going. It was a big group as SkarIX, Exlund, Pozialle, Gyka, Nsynca, Chippy2000, and Yamakarasu were all going. By the end of the day, all of the NeoPets had slipped a letter into their house, got their battle equipment, food, and other necessaries, then met at the Sanfriko Hill. It was certainly all over town that their best pets were all leaving. No one wanted to believe it, but it was true. It was a huge loss to the whole community. Owners losing their NeoPets, other NeoPets losing their siblings/friends, and the army missing a whole strong side.

The NeoPets who left didn't think of the losses that their community could have as SkarIX said, "We all will survive!" Everyone was thinking of surviving the wild, while Gyka's owner, like many others, were sitting in their beloved pets' bedroom, crying over the matter.
