Shari waited and waited the entire day away. But her
owner didn't come. She didn't eat, didn't sleep, just waited and waited
until it was a full week. Suddenly, there was a knock on the door, and
Shari ran towards it, thinking that her owner had come home. But no-it
was Jake, her friend.
Shari stood in silence for a while, then murmured, "My
owner…she…"
"She abandoned you?" Jake asked, a fuse of fire lighting
up from his heart.
"No. She would never!" Shari said, offended.
"What is it than?"
"She's gone."
"What happened?"
"I don't know!" Shari said very, very slowly.
"We'll find her even if it means going to the end of
the world!" Jake said, without pausing.
"Dark Faerie, queen! We've a new catch!" Natas cried
out.
"I'm the most famous in the world," he would often say
to himself, or "Who have not heard of the loyal-to-death sidekick of the
Dark Faerie?" Terribly scheming and unscrupulous, everyone hated him.
"Bring her to me." The Dark Faerie said, her voice like
snakes hissing and as cold as ice.
Natas efficiently produced the captive, held in a tight
container of glass. There she was, crying, but still beautiful. She had
red-orange hair; the colour of the sun at it's best. Her angelic brown
hazel eyes were filled with sadness. Wearing a gown made of autumn leaves;
she was indeed a beautiful Fire Faerie.
"Help Me," she murmured, "Help me."
They ran as swift as the wind. Shari the silver Shoyru,
and Jake the Lupe, under the gentle, soft moonlight.
"Jake, where are we going to now?" Shari asked, looking
at her surroundings, in fear of what would come out and capture her. Jake
made no answer but continued running. He could run very fast and speedy,
and every now and then, he would make a quick glance at Shari to make
sure she was following behind. Shari was clearly breathless, but the love
and devotion she gave to her owner, and the will she finally had which
was strengthened by Jake made her continue running. Finally, Jake stop,
and Shari walked up to be side-by-side with him.
"There," he pointed, "There is where you can find whatever
information you want!" They walked together, briskly. All around them
was a huge bricked wall. There was no door.
Shari panicked, and asked, "What are you doing, Jake!
We've to get out of here. There's nothing but a wall."
Jake nodded and said, "I've never came here before."
"What? Never came here before? Then why are we here?
This is not a time for you to go touring. What about Silver?" Shari called
her owner Silver, with affection.
"No, we've come to the right place. Don't you know? I
heard about this place before. They said if your heart was good, and your
will strong, they would give you any information you want! They said the
Wizard of Information created it before he died! But… how do we go about
doing or rather using it?"
"I don't know! I just want to get out of here!"
Jake walked towards the wall and touched it. His sharp
eyes found the words,
"Sleep to all ye,
Unless of good not evil,
With bravery not cowardliness.
Say the word eternal,
And thou shall enter the castle
Of information."
The words were engraved in golden and would have been
seen easily by Jake had not it been night. He whispered the words to himself,
and then beckoning Shari to come forward said, "What do you decipher of
this?"
Shari smiled and said, "That's really easy! Just say
'eternal' and then we can enter!" Thinking she had found the solution,
she flew up into the sky happily, did a somersault and flew straight back
to Jake.
But Jake shook his head and said, "No. It's too easy,
impossible."
Shari laughed and said, "You are too foolish!" She walked
towards the wall as well, and said, simply "eternal". At first nothing
happened, but a few moments later the ground shook strongly. Jake grabbed
Shari and both laid flat on the ground.
After what seemed like eternity, Jake got up and looked
at his surroundings. The wall had crumbled and there were piles of broken
bricks and rumbles all around. Shari got up too, and smiled a loop-sided
grin. "I told you!" she said.
Looking up, they stood in awe, and admiration as they
saw a huge pinkish-white couloured cloud. It was no ordinary cloud! On
top of it was a huge castle made of diamond. It shone so gloriously that
Jake stood silent, and still. A huge golden spiral staircase suddenly
appeared, and both climbed up.
They stood in front of a wooden bridge, which was next
to the huge castle. The bridge didn't look very steady or trustworthy.
It was made of wood planks that had holes and cracks in them. The holes
showed you rushing water of deep green and purple, flowing hastily as
if in a rush. Jake walked across the bridge, and nothing happened to him.
Shari took a deep breath, and not wanting to be outwitted, also walked
across the shaky wooden planks.
The next moment happened quickly, as Shari yelled. She
was in the middle of the bridge, and swayed along with it. Swaying and
shaking viciously, the bridge refused to be stationary! At the end of
the bridge, the ropes snapped suddenly! Shari felt herself falling down
and down!
To be continued...
