Flying Through Water: Part One

by Diaz73

Author’s note: This is a true story about me and my blue Peophin, Undeann. It all started on December 15, 2000...

“Undeann, I’m home!” I yelled through my Maraqua bubble. I waited, then I heard clip, clop, wump, clip, clop, wump. I smiled as I saw Undeann race towards me.

“Hello Diazzy!” (My real name is Diaz73) Undeann yelled eagerly as she ran toward me.

“You were supposed to be home half an hour ago! What took you so long?”

“Well I saw a li…” but I stopped and smiled again. "You’ll find out on your birthday tomorrow.”

“No, tell me now,” she wailed.

“Nope,” I simply said.

“Yes!” she argued.

“Nope,” I said again.

Undeann turned around and stomped out of the room and started playing with her PetPet Seasong, a Gulper.

“Undeann,” I yelled, “you might want to come back here! I have something for ya.”

Undeann stomped back into the room and asked, “Well, what is it?”

I slowly took my hand from behind my back and showed her a white chocolate Peophin, her favourite treat.

“Hump,” She said and snatched it out of my hand and stomped out of the room again with it and continued to play with Seasong. I laughed and went to bed. I woke up.

Today was Undeann’s birthday! “Undeann!” I yelled. “Wake up, it’s your birthday. Time to open presents!”

Undeann came charging out of her room and yelled a yell that shook the whole bubble. “Where, where are the presents?!?!”

“Over there,” I said laughing and pointing at the table.

Undeann charged at the table and began to rip up the wrapping paper with her teeth. I was laughing so hard that I didn’t even bother to tell her to open the card first. Undeann got tons of presents, so it was really funny when Undeann said, “Is that all?”

“No” I said, “there’s one more.”

“Well, where is it?” Undeann said in a whinny sort of voice.

“Right here,” I said and pulled out a Light Faerie behind my back.

“Oh wow!” Undeann whispered.

“How did you afford that?”

“It was on sale for 2000 NP,” I said.

“Here,” I let the Light Faerie go on Undeann.

“I bless you with magic torch,” said the Light Faerie as she disappeared with a puff of smoke.

“Come on, let’s go get your friends Zarry, Zitzagzing and Eis10 for your birthday,” I said gently.

“OK,” Undeann said back.

I got my scuba suit on (because I can’t breath under water like Undeann can.) “OK, let’s go and do the impossible task of finding Neopian Central and hope to get back alive,” I joked.

Little did I know that those words would come true. “OK,” said Undeann excitedly.

“Let’s go!” She jumped out of the bubble and started to swim north (because that’s the way to Neopian Central). I jumped out of the bubble and hurried to catch Undeann. I always feel jealous when I look at Undeann swim. She looks like she’s flying through water. Me? I swim like a drowning rat (well, maybe not that bad, but…).

“Hurry up slow poke!” Undeann yelled excitedly.

“I’m coming, I’m coming,” I said automatically.

We raced through coral reefs, through underwater caves and swam through twisted pathways cut into the rocks by rough ocean currents. We swam for miles until I realized that my air tank was low and I signaled Undeann that I had to surface and refill with air. Me and Undeann swan to the surface so I could refill it with air. When we got to the surface I opened up the lid of my air tank and let it refill with air. “Diaz,” Undeann said with worry.

“I think we might have a REALLY BIG problem.”

“Wait,” I snapped.

“Diaz,” Undeann said again, but with a note of fright in her voice.

“One second!” I yelled, frantically screwing on the top of the air tank.

“Diaz!” Undeann said very scared.

“What!” I yelled back at her as I turned around.

But I didn’t need an answer. Coming right toward us was a 200 foot tidal wave. “Move!” I screamed at the top of my lungs. But it was too late. The tidal wave was going to hit. WAM! The title wave hit with so much impact that it sent me flying out of the water. CRACK! I hit the water so hard on my back that it made a cracking sound. I don’t think I felt so much pain in my whole life than I did now as I sank below the water. My back felt on fire and my arms. Oh how can I describe the pain in my arms? It was horrible. Just like I stuck a thousand knives through them. My head swarmed with aching and pain. For a second I forgot where I was and tried to yell “Undeann,” but ended up swallowing a mouth full of seawater instead. My lungs burned with pain. Air, they needed air. I felt myself sinking farther and farther, deeper down into the water. I tried hopelessly to swim back to the surface. But in my heart I knew I would never make it. I lifted my arm up and tried to reach for air that was never there and never will be. Undeann, I thought as my world was going black. Undeann……….
