Quote of the Week
Do you know how many openings there are in Cellblock, Reimh? Are you aware of how many permutations there can be on only a hundred squares? I have seen almost all the countless aggregations of pieces that attempt to colonize and expand across the board, like the freezing of water in a vial around an impurity. I know all the traps and techniques, the useless collection of names for moves that give one a decisive advantage, should the correct position arise. And I definitely know how to go about it slow and steady. I have watched my opponent desperately try to obtain short-term wins, only to be foiled at every step of the way, all the while being slowly smothered by the inevitable crystallizing of a win from small advantages. The game deserves every bit of its name because at its most fundamental level, it is as mentally suffocating as a prison cell.
Stamp Collecting from Beginner to Pro!
Stamp Collecting from Beginner to Pro!
Stamp and Album collecting can be one of the most rewarding and exciting hobbies to have in Neopia. It’s packed with fantastic rewards, epic and nostalgic artwork and surrounded by a welcoming and supportive community.
There are almost 800 items that you can add to your collection at the point of writing, so it can be daunting for new collectors deciding to take the plunge. If that is you, then sit back and grab a can of Neocola because I’m going to walk you through from beginning to end!
In this series we will cover the four key components of the hobby:
1. Why?
2. The Basics
3. The Hunt!
Why?
As a The Wise Gnorbu would say, “One must know their planned destination before setting out on an adventure, or risk winding up in the exact same spot after a long journey”. |
Reimagining Fun with Flash-free Games
When Flash was officially discontinued on the twelfth day of the month of Sleeping Y23, many Neopians were left questioning, “What are we going to do now that there aren’t any more Flash games?”
The answer is simple: Flash-free games.
Even though Flash is officially gone, Neopets still has plenty of older games that don’t require Flash. These Flash-free games still work perfectly, and you can play to your heart’s content. Many of these games were from the earlier days of Neopets, so you may have forgotten about them over the years, or perhaps even dismissed them as “old-fashioned” and “boring” because they rely on repeated clicking and page-reloading to show each move or step made in the game. I am here to show you that this doesn’t have to be the case. These old games may not be as cool or as flashy (pun intended)... |
| Hidden Gems: 11 Underrated Species Paints
We all know and love the big name Neopet colours: Oil Paint Peophin, Mutant Acara, Maraquan Lutari and Alien Aisha, to name but a few. But there are hundreds of combinations of species and paint out there, and so many more that go completely unnoticed! These can be vibrant, beautiful or even subtle gems that you just never see.
So what did I do? I compiled a list of eleven colour-species combinations, in no particular order, that I don't think are as popular as... |

"To Reimh, from Prison" by nolsterbuckrxy To Reimh, who I hold the greatest fondness,
To my most esteemed brother, Reimh,
My beloved brother Reimh,
Dear Reimh,
I hope you will forgive me for discarding such lengthy greetings on the same sheet of paper. Such a commodity is rarely found in the bowels of the citadel. Another prisoner, a Lupe, was kind enough to provide me parchment to write this letter, on the basis that I would accept the drawings on the other side. Don’t even ask me what Jelly World is, I haven’t the slightest what he is on about. But I definitely do not want to offend his sensibilities by even trying to understand. The only thing other bit of information I could ever pry from him came from earlier in my imprisonment. He has never imparted to me his name, but the guards and the other prisoners have come to naming him Five... |
"Unsung Heroes: Behind the Scenes Neopians Part 2" by thebanditrocks Author’s Note: This is the second in a series of interviews conducted with a handful of Neopia’s unsung heroes – those who keep our world spinning (sometimes, quite literally!). From gardeners to engineers, these often thankless jobs are the backbone of the Neopian way of life. I have spent months travelling all across the globe, trying to convince many of these humble public servants to sit down with me for even a short while. While many were hesitant at first, all eventually opened up to me and shared wonderful stories, wisdom, and insights, which I hope I have captured adequately for all readers to enjoy.

From the moment I wander from Neopia Central to the Bazaar, I am immediately struck with a world of heavenly smells wafting through the air... |
"Send A Star" by kebicorn Stardust streamed behind a yellow mote in the atmosphere above Shenkuu. A nova, sending a message with beams of light, descends from the sky to greet its best friend, Shuupa. The light faerie waited atop a mountain more than 2,000 metres high. The clear night sky boasted purple ribbon-like gleams from outer space.
The nova's arrival brought a smile to Shuupa, who was sitting on a flat rock. Shuupa practised her magic by sending a few dust motes dancing in the air. The spiralling motes were slowly lowered to the ground with a gentle swish of her right arm and moulded back into the earthy soil. The bright glow from the dancing motes let the nova know where to land each night. As Shuupa raised her left arm to wave, she gasped as villagers and tourists were heard arguing behind her as they exited the perched building of a famous orange blumaroo chef. |
