Keeping Yourself Occupied on Neopets

     Collecting avatars is my personal favourite way to keep busy! There are some avatars (like the Snowager avatar) that illude me still some eighteen years on the site! If you have not started collecting avatars, a great place to start is by obtaining clickable avatars. This just means that you can obtain these just by clicking on something. Jellyneo and Sunnyneo both keep up to date with new avatars, so you can keep checking back. Eventually, you will run out of easily obtainable avatars, leaving you with ones that are much harder to get. However, with enough patience, you can find someone lending that item you need, or you will get a high enough score on that game. Avatar hunting is an expensive and time-consuming hobby, giving you something to do.

     Another expensive hobby is stamp collecting! I cannot quantify how many neopoints I have spent on stamps over the years. As someone with seven completed stamp pages, I can say it is a journey. Some stamps haven’t been rereleased for years, so it definitely is a long-term commitment. It does feel extremely satisfying to see the stamp page all filled out, so it does feel worth the effort in the end. When you finish each stamp page, you get a pretty avatar, too! Not all stamps can be easily purchased, and sometimes you have to do some legwork and find someone to sell you the one you need. This can be done through Neomail, guild posting, or posting on the Neoboards! It definitely takes up some time, so you have to commit to it.

     In order to fund expensive hobbies, you need to find a way to make those Neopoints! Stocking a shop takes time and effort. First, you have to source the items! If you have a lot of items in your Safety Deposit Box, you can just mass-remove items and put them in your shop. You can then price them by using the Shop Wizard. Sometimes, you will find an item that does not show up in the Shop Wizard. This means it is worth over 999,999 Neopoints! In order to price it for sale, you should refer to active auction and Trading Post prices. Jellyneo’s Item Database can also be helpful in pricing items, too! You can also play games and participate in the Food Club in order to make some extra cash. < P> Customising pets is also another great way to find entertainment. Dressing your pets up is so much fun, especially when there are so many fun wearables available! Recently, there have been updates to the Customisation Spotlight contest, resulting in a new avatar and prizes. If you end up with a customisation scheme for your pet that you really like, enter it! You can also trade or earn items (Neocash or Neopoints) to build up your closet. Just like all items here in Neopia, some are harder to obtain than others. You may have to spend time searching for someone who has that item up for trade or up for sale and hope you have something suitable for in return. I personally enjoy playing around with different pet styles and matching them to different backgrounds in my closet. I love a good background! It is super fun to find items that all mesh together. It is also fun if you make up personalities for your pets and give them an outfit that matches your vibe.

     The Igloo Garage Sale is a very underrated shop, in my opinion! Located in Terror Mountain, Mika and Carassa are clearing out their old items at a discount. Here, any item with a rarity of 84 or below can show up at a price somewhat close to its estimated value. I’ve seen Codestones, Bubbling Fungus, and Goodie Bags all show up! You can get ten items a day, and it restocks randomly. I like to check in every so often and see what is in stock! Usually, I try to buy books or stamps that restock, if there are no majorly profitable items. I also go for items that I think are cute and that I just want to buy, just to keep things fun. I typically throw these items in my Safety Deposit Box to sell eventually. The shop also comes with an avatar after you purchase 250 items!

     Playing a game of Plushie Tycoon will also take up your time, as the game goes on for a whole month. You need to check in and play pretty much every day, and it can get fairly difficult, but it definitely keeps you busy for a long period of time. I personally recommend reading guides before starting at the beginning of the month, and perhaps finding other Neopians playing at the same time. In essence, the game revolves around you building your own plushie factory. If you finish with over 50,000 Neopoints on hand, you can get a cool trophy and an avatar, not to mention the huge accomplishment of sticking with the game continuously.

     Overall, there are so many different ways to find entertainment here on Neopets! From setting goals for avatar or stamp counts to refreshing near constantly for rare items, there is something for everyone to find entertainment in. Do not stop doing your dailies, and be sure to poke around to see what all you enjoy doing. Many hobbies can get expensive, but if you keep at it, you can achieve anything!
