The Tombola Guy Takes a Vacation

Each day was the same for the Tombola Guy.

He’d watch all visitors put in a hoof, paw, or hand

to pull out a ticket in hopes of prizes so grand.

He’d then give them sand or a keyring or two,

or maybe even a book about the Island Rock Pool.

Sometimes he’d need to take donations for a bit,

as running a daily is quite the Neopoint pit.

That day, as a Kougra scampered away with a prize,

the Tombola Guy began to put up his sign:

“Closed. Back in an hour or so,” it always said,

but he stopped for a moment, scratching his head.

“Wait a minute,” he thought, “Why such a short break?

That’s not enough time to practice Yooyuball or bake!”

Why can’t a guy take more than a little breather?

I can never train my HP or see friends either.”

“Everyone stops for a moment, and then they leave.

Surely, I deserve more than such a short reprieve.

I bet no one remembers how I was once cursed.

And I just realised I never even changed my shirt!”

He paced for a moment, then made up his mind.

Mystery Island summer heat isn’t so kind.

“I’m leaving right now; I’m leaving today!

I don’t care what anyone else has to say!”

So he packed up his things: a plushie, a hat.

He marched away from the hut, and that was that.

Visitors began coming back at the usual time,

but instead of tickets and prizes, what did they find?

A note tacked onto the hut that clearly read:

“Closed. Back in a week. I have plans instead.
