Celebrating JubJub Day the JubJub Way

It's JubJub Day, which means it's time for... JUBJUB JUBILEE!!

Some of us aren't that good at showing our jubilation, so here are some ways for you to publicize your love for these underloved little furry creatures we're celebrating!

1. JubJub Makeover

Perhaps today is the day to consider finally getting that paintbrush to paint your JubJub into that gorgeous Faerie JubJub. Alternatively, who says it has to be Christmas in order to own a Christmas JubJub? The colour opportunities are endless, and I'm sure your JubJub will thank you too for their new appearance.

Why stop at colours? Don't think that JubJubs can't be dressed up just because they don't have hands. They certainly wouldn't fit in the traditional four-legged suits, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of specialized JubJub costumes out there for you to pick from!

Did you know that the JubJub is one of only three species with a detective-themed outfit? I'll bet you can just imagine your very own JubJub as the hero in that latest mystery novel you read. Or if your JubJub enjoyed the recent plot, he could be an inventor just like Dr Landelbrot, complete with coat, gloves, wig, goggles, and even lab equipment! Alternatively, how about dressing up your JubJub in an Elegant JubJub Dress with matching tiara, earrings and shoes? This outfit would be perfect for a fancy night out at the elite Kelp Restaurant. Who knows, you might even get some leftovers to take back with you!

2. Declare your love of JubJubs

User look-up: Your user lookup is the first place someone will check to see whether you're into the JubJub mood. Time to consider spicing up your user lookup with some cute JubJub banners or fun images!

JubJub themed gallery: Did you know that there are more than 300 JubJub related items in Neopets? Demonstrate your JubJub love with categories dedicated to food, furniture or toys. In fact, why stop there? You could even go for the entire set of items!

Neohome: Surely no neohome is complete without one of these cute little guys poking out from a corner? Spiff up your Neohome with a "Robo JubJub", or hide a "Curious JubJub Gnome" in one of the bushes of your Neogarden and see how long it takes your pets to notice it.

3. Enjoy some games featuring JubJubs!

Jubble Bubble: Did you know that JubJubs were called JibJibs when they were first released? Well, I for one am glad of the name change: imagine playing a game named Jibble Bibble! Anyway, about the game: surely you can't bear to see all those poor Maraquan JubJubs tumbling down and hurting their heads on the ocean floor? The time is ripe for a hero to save the day! Blow some bubbles to cushion their fall, and rack up your score by catching the occasional dubloon. Just don't get hit on the head by a shell, and with a combination of skill, luck, and perseverance, you might just end up with a shiny new trophy featuring one of your rescued Maraquan JubJubs!

Piper Panic: Find out if you are as skilful as Jub Zambra at guiding Cobralls into those baskets. Pick up gems for points, pharaoh's hoods to multiply your score, scarab beetles for time and ankhs for life. Avoid crashing into the side of the board or it's gaaaaame over! The maps are the same each time you play so it's a matter of practice to finish each level in the fastest possible way.

Tyranu Evavu: Jarbjarb is one of the dealers you might face while playing this ancient card-game. You may find that Jarbjarb is not very conversational though unless you understand Tyrannian. Ugrh uggh. Back to the game. You may think it's pure luck, but there's probability and strategy involved too. For instance, if your first card is a Queen, odds are you should pick Evavu because there are more cards lower (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, J) than higher (K, A). Also, the same card is never repeated, so it's a good idea to keep count of the cards that have already appeared.

4. Visit Mystery Island and take a Tiki Tour

Legend holds that the very first JubJubs in Neopia came to Mystery Island floating on coconut shells. Where they came from is still a mystery, but the earliest records speak of a certain shy, elusive species that was found only where there were coconut trees in abundance. Archeological findings have also uncovered masks made from coconut husk that would fit a JubJub perfectly. It seems that the earliest JubJubs used the coconut as food, shelter, toy, and even weapon! Traditions have been continued most faithfully in Mystery Island, where one can still find furniture made from coconut husks and plushies covered in real coconut hair. Learn about all this and more on the Tiki Tour, where you are taken around Mystery Island in a real coconut carriage, pulled by a JubJub representative dressed up to look like one of the Coconut JubJubs of long ago.

5. Rub your neopet's tummy with a traditional JubJub meal

What is a traditional JubJub meal, you may ask? Well, I certainly don't mean eating some of those JubJub-shaped desserts, like that overly-sweet Disco JubJub Cupcake, or the strange Chokato JubJub Muffin which has two orange legs sticking out of it. JubJubs aren't for eating, and you certainly shouldn't be encouraging your Skeith or Grarrl to think of their fellow Neopians as food. The traditional JubJub meal, like all other things JubJub, is centered around the coconut. White coconut flesh especially is said to give a JubJub strange powers when consumed daily, although it certainly also makes for a tasty dessert in the tropical midday sun. Coconut Cream Steak is also a pretty filling main course for the meat-lovers. Or you could try the JubJub Island Drink, which is actually a blend of coconut milk (listed as "fruit juice") with several other spices and secret ingredients.

6. Read a JubJub book

What better way to find out about JubJubs than to read about them! A new JubJub owner can always start with the classic "All you need to know about your JubJub", or "JubJub Manual", while owners wishing to progress more in the field of JubJub care can progress to "JubJub Hair Styling" or "Happy Feet". For the Battledome enthusiasts, "JubJub Roll!" is a must-read to bring out your pet's full potential. And if you are lucky enough to own a robot JubJub, the book "The Technical Mind of the Robot JubJub" becomes a must-read to understand the quirky ways of their brains (or wires).

Now I hear you say, "What if I don't own a JubJub?!" Fear not! You can still entertain your neopets by telling them about their little rolly friends. You could start by reading to them the legendary tale of "Bigfoot the JubJub" (whose feet could simply not stop growing!), keeping them in suspense with the mystery thriller "The JubJubs Secret", or tugging at their heartstrings with the sad story of "The Lonely JubJub".

7. Create some hubbub with a ticket to the Jub Zambra concerts

This famous band only plays on the 5th of every month, so it's time to do some forward planning and take your pets down to a Jub Zambra concert to do a countdown! 8. A JubJub's ode you might submit
in poetry, through rhyme, and with a wit;
