Having a Hard Time Deciding: Should I Abandon or Not?

Now have you ever adopted a NeoPet? I have, twice. These pets always seem needy, when they come out of the Pound they are hungry and tired and need to be bathed and played with. Once I adopted a pet named Gallilie. She has a beautiful name, beautiful personality and she is not whiny. Now everyone would probably say she is that way because of the way she is treated in the Pound. I definitely think NOT.

A lot of Neopeople share this point of view of the Pound. Now why would anyone want to leave their pets in this horrid place with that scary doctor? Or why would they abandon their pets? I saw an article about how the pets are not a Christmas Gift, but a friend forever. True and not true.

How is it true you might ask. But I say, how is it not. Here is a list of how and how it's not.

TRUE:
1. You aren't supposed to get a NeoPet and then abandon it because you see a new one that is cuter or has better stats!

2. Pets aren't a Christmas gift, you don't throw them out with the wrapping either.

3. Did your parents put you in the Orphanage because they had your sister or brother?

4. Why would someone get rid of a NeoPet? They are so cute!

NOT TRUE:
1. The Doctor at the pound is a terrible man who has no likes for NeoPets except to torture them. Maybe he puts up a tough front, but other wise he's a pussycat.

2. People only "abandon" their pets because they have no reason, at all. I had a reason when I abandoned my two pets. I had just started NeoPets and I had the mere 500 NP's to start out, and with the prices now, I could never afford my pets. I had four pets, two of which I abandoned and two I kept. I abandoned _Carser_ and I forget the other name. I had no money to buy proper food, books or any toys. I was trying to save it for later days when I really needed it. The soup kitchen only works if your pets aren't DYING. But if you have no money then you can't feed them, they'll starve to death. Do you really want to see their sad little faces???

3. People enjoy abandoning their pets, they do it for fun. No one does that. Even though I know my pets are just computer images I still love them and I almost cried when I abandoned them.

4. The Doctor takes care of the animals. Not true. How do we know the Uni doesn't take care of the animals? Maybe she can't stand the look on owners face's when they leave their pets. But she obviously has access to the abandoned pets because she brings the people who want to adopt back there. So next time you see some article saying: "Don't Abandon" think before you read it. It can't be true. Or at least have some compassion for those who have no choice but to "Abandon". Don't even call it that! Call it "Being The Very Best Owner You Can Be", because if you can't financially keep a pet, you're harming it. At least in the Pound they are fed, played with, and who knows, to keep over 200 pets you need a pretty big NeoHome, so maybe your pets are happier there. Who says it's a cramped wire cage?
