Find a New Beachy Friend this Summer! by _brainchild_
--------
---Starring Chessangie the Royalgirl Draik, Chessella the Pastel Draik, Maldice the Stealthy Draik, and Christine, their owner!
Christine: Welcome! Is your Neopet lonely? Well, every Neopet could benefit from a Petpet as a friend! Ella: I love my Faerie Snowbunny, but she is very exhausting to take care of. Angie: I’ve had my Purple Symol forever! She is my best friend. Maldice: I enjoy the company of my Mutant Clompkin. Christine: Well, some Neopets have yet to bring that special Petpet into their lives. Therefore, in honour of the Beach edition of the Neopian Times, we will be examining some beach- and island-themed Petpets today. Maldice: I wonder if there will ever be a day where a Neopet can have more than one Petpet? Ella: The one I have is enough for me. Christine: Without further ado, here are the Petpets:
---Bubbles---

Christine: The Bubbles can inflate itself to 10 times its normal size. Some pets use it as a beach ball, but I doubt that the PPL would approve of that! Angie: I agree... It sounds like abuse. Ella: The Bubbles looks like a puffer fish without the spikes! Christine: Very true... No one would use it as a beach ball if it had spikes. Maldice: I hear that the Bubbles can swim very well. Ella: Of course it can. It’s a fish! Angie: Can it breathe outside of water? Maldice: No, but if I cast a magical spell on it, it will be able to breathe anywhere... and float in the air for that matter. Ella: Great! That sounds a lot more fun than being in a tank all the time. Angie: I agree!
---Crabby---

Maldice: Well, I see that someone was very creative when naming this one. ---smirks--- Angie: I wonder if Crabbies have a crabby attitude? I hope they don’t pinch... ---shudders---Ella: Only if you upset them. Crabbies are pretty chill. Angie: Good... Christine: The Crabby can move very quickly through water by using its two powerful pincers to push itself along. Maldice: It makes sense that a Crabby would be a good swimmer! Angie: It has big yellow eyes... Very distinctive, if you ask me. Maldice: Well, eyes of all colours, and two eyes of two different colours, are beautiful! Have you seen the Blue and Gold Heterochromia Contacts in the NC Mall?

Angie: Now, THOSE are some distinctive eyes. Very pretty, too! Ella: I agree!
---Island Babaa---

Christine: Babaas are easily scared, so they will hide under your bed when they are surprised. The Island Babaa is no exception! Maldice: I don’t know why a Petpet would be so timid. Are Babaas scared of their own shadows?! I could never deal with a Petpet like that. Ella: Are Babaas spoiled? Do they whine and cry a lot like my Faerie Snowbunny? Angie: They can become spoiled if you spoil them a lot. Christine: Anyway, the Island Babaa wears beautiful fuchsia flowers and grassy bands around its legs. This look is very pretty and reminiscent of Mystery Island! Maldice: Of course. It’s an Island Babaa. Angie: I hear that the flowers smell nice! Will they eventually wilt? Maldice: I can enchant them with a magical spell, and then they will last forever! Ella: One more thing. Do Babaas ever need to be sheared like Gnorbus? Maldice: Of course they do, though a magical spell could keep the wool at the same length forever! Ella: Wow, you have an answer for everything with those magical spells of yours. Maldice: Of course I do! Anything is possible in Neopia.
---Island Hasee---

Christine: Hasees like to sit around all day and eat rich, tropical foods! The Island Hasee is no exception. Angie: That is exactly what Jimmi and Woogy do in the game Hasee Bounce! The objective is to gobble as many Doughnutfruits as possible before time runs out, while avoiding the junk. Ella: I wonder what a Doughnutfruit tastes like? Angie: I imagine that they’re great, and that different kinds of Doughnutfruits have different flavours. Christine: Anyway, the Island Hasee is white with tan markings, and wears beautiful blue flowers on its antennae. Maldice: Again, those flowers would last forever with the correct magical spell! Angie: I think that the blue flowers are gorgeous. I’d love to learn more about the different flowers on Mystery Island! Maldice: Well, then, go there. You might meet an Island Hasee while you’re at it.
---Island Rock---

Christine: With the help of an Island Petpet Paint Brush, the Island Rock looks just like a codestone! Ella: A Rock is a pet rock, so why don’t Neopets get codestones as Petpets? They’re a lot more affordable... Maldice: The laws of Neopia don’t work that way. Angie: I could start painting Rock Petpets and selling them for a profit. I could create a lot of new paint brush colours! Ella: Where do you intend to get this magical paint that will adhere permanently like a magical paint brush? Maldice: Ella, have you been paying attention at all? My magical spells could help her. Angie: Great! A Rock-painting business it is, now that Rock Petpets are easy to obtain!
---Island Turtum---
Christine: This little fellow has a shell made out of half of a coconut. I guess that’s one use for Tombola junk! Ella: True... everyone has a Half Coconut Shell sitting in their Safety Deposit Box:
Christine: With the help of a Half Coconut Shell, any Turtum can get into the beachy spirit! The Island Turtum, however, is white with beautiful tan markings. How fun! Angie: I hear that a Turtum’s shell is its armour... I wonder if a coconut would be a good piece of armour at all? Probably not. Ella: True... The coconut is more of a fashion statement than anything. Maldice: With the right magical spell, that coconut will be as strong as a diamond. Christine: At any rate, the coconut looks great, and it fits our beachy theme perfectly.
---Lizark---
Christine: The Lizark comes from the Lost City of Geraptiku, a part of Mystery Island. It’s also the mascot of Lost City Lanes, a game where you go bowling! Ella: I remember that game... I would like it better if the Lizark weren’t so creepy. Christine: Anyway, the Lizark is a lizard wearing a skull. I don’t know where the skull came from, but I don’t think I want to know. Angie: True... Very creepy! Maldice: You guys are wimps, unnerved by a little skull. I think that a Petpet wearing a skull is a cool design. It appears that the skull has been decorated with red paint, making it look even better! Ella: Well, you do you, I guess. I prefer my cute Faerie Snowbunny. Maldice: Even if it whines and cries incessantly?! Ella: Hey, it’s better than a morbid creature wearing a skull! Maldice: I think that the Lizark is just misunderstood. Poor guy...
---Yackito---
Christine: Also from Geraptiku, the Yackito is known to be a wise little bird. Maldice: Oh, really?! To me, it looks like an artichoke! Angie: I think she’s right... Christine: Well, the Yackito is a Petpet, not food, so don’t try to eat it, or I’m calling the PPL. Ella: Petpets are friends, not food! Christine: Agreed. The Yackito has beautiful blue markings around its eyes, as well as a small beak. Angie: Can the Yackito sing? Maldice: I don’t know if I would call it singing. More like chirping. Christine: I can’t stand being awakened by chirping birds when I’m trying to sleep in the morning. I guess that if I were a Neopet, a Yackito wouldn’t be the Petpet for me...
---Conclusion---
Christine: So, which Petpet was everyone’s favourite? Maldice: I like the Lizark. So perfectly creepy! Angie: I like the Island Rock. Time to start painting! Ella: I think that the Island Hasee is super cute. Christine: Anyway, any Neopet without a Petpet already should be able to find the perfect beachy Petpet this upcoming summer. Until next time, dear readers!
