Getting Your Dream Pet, Without Winning A Contest

All of Neopia is abuzz with festive cheer and jolly moods, Christmas spirit is in the air all around us. And with that comes one of the most exciting contests of the year: the Dream Pet Giveaway! Thousands of hopeful pets are entered, but only forty get to walk away with the grand prize of a dream makeover. The winning pets will get morphed and painted into their owner’s greatest dream pet, possibly one that they could have never afforded without having won the competition! But, like I said, only forty can win...and out of thousands of entries, those odds aren’t so good.

Getting What You Want for the Holidays

‘Tis the most wonderful time of the year, isn’t it?! As the holidays approach here in Neopia, many fond memories return to me of past Months of Celebrating. Most of them involving me, Janet, getting all the presents I’ve ever wanted from my owner, Hayley! Now, I know it’s hard to imagine: some random Neopet you’ve never met is going to give you tips on how to get everything you’ve dreamed about all year from an owner that she doesn’t even know.

"Kaia’s Christmas Break" by navygreengolf
Snow in Shenkuu was a rare sight unless you were the rare Neopet who dared to venture all the way up to Mount Kuji. There was something magical in the way it effortlessly covered everything from the ceramic roof tops of the palace towers, to the many steps of the Lunar Temple. In the cold, Kaia’s breath appeared in front of her in a small, cloudy puff. She had hastily bought some mittens and leg warmers at a kiosk, near the airship port, when she had arrived. Her wings softly brushed away some of the snow that had fallen on them as she collected her luggage. A lot had happened this semester during her studies at Queen Fyora’s Academy in Faerieland. She had been put in charge of a booth during the annual Faerie festival for the first time in her life, and was able to meet pets gathered from all over Neopia. For the first time of her life, she felt noticed; she felt recognized by the public eye, but she was not sure if this is what she wanted after all. Wouldn’t this just bring her more trouble? She tried her best to answer questions from Neopian Times reporters who visited the festival, and wasn’t sure how to respond to their sudden interest in her. Her addition to the Neopedia baffled her still - was she really important enough to be a part of Neopian history? She didn’t feel very special at all. If anything, growing up as the only faerie in all of Shenkuu, she had always felt different.

"A Brynnso Christmas Special 3" by rielcz
The following is a script commissioned by Queen Fyora herself due to citizen popular demand to provide some lighthearted Christmas merriment as a distraction from the war against the Wraiths. There had previously been limited success in Christmas-themed plays featuring Hanso and Brynn, and—while originally cancelled after only two episodes due to disagreements between the show’s hosts and producers—a new contract was reached for this year, allowing the darlings of The Faeries’ Ruin to again return to the stage in Fyora’s Tower. Thus, the "Faerieland Acting Club Representing Years 16-19," with new title sponsor "The Faerieland Craft Council," present, "A Brynnso Christmas Special 3!" *** Set: A holiday-decorated log-cabin style Neohome decked out in multiple colors of garland and tinsel. A wall is missing, allowing an audience to peer in. There is a door to the left, for guests to enter and exit. A fireplace sits off to the center-left, its immersive and enthralling glow entertaining the viewers, making them feel the warmth even as they watch from a distance. Atop the mantle are a collection of pine-needles, a few Christmas cards, and some neggnog. Off to the other side sits a grandiose Christmas tree, covered in decorations from the star at the top to the trunk at the bottom. There are various presents at the base of it. Lights adorning it glow in a most intriguing manner.

"Giving Day at Black Keep:Part Three" by cosmicfire918
Two white paws slammed down on the table. "Mother!" Celice barked, ears perked forward and fur bristling. "That is quite enough!" Kass’s eyes snapped up at her in shock. "Lord Kass has shown our family nothing but kindness and hospitality, and this is how you repay him?" The sorceress leaned over the table toward her mother. "How dare you insult him! You think yourself superior just because of your family ties, but Lord Kass is ten times the noblepet you will ever be with that attitude!" Minevra’s jaw dropped. "Celice—darling," she stammered. "How could you say such awful things to your own mother?" "Because they’re true," Celice growled. "And it’s time someone calls you out on it before you become even more of a monster." "Well, I—" Minevra took a few halting steps back, obviously not used to someone actually standing up to her. "I just—oh, this is rotten!" she wailed. "You’re all being perfectly beastly!" In a flurry of expensive fabric, she turned and ran from the hall, sobbing loudly. "Dear!" Crom called after her, nearly knocking over his chair as he ran to follow her, as did Belven. Elyria shot her sister a nasty look. "How could you upset Mother so?" the Blumaroo hissed. "Perhaps spending Giving Day with you was a mistake." Before Celice could reply, Elyria said, "Come on, Rondas, let’s go console Mother." She tugged her husband out of his chair and stormed out of the hall with him in tow.
