The Ultimate Guide to Pairings on Chocolate Ball Day

by cosmonauta

--------

Hello ladies and gentlemen appreciators of good chocolate. I am Chef Diéje Rhombus, and in an exclusive presentation from Neopian Times, I am going to share with you everything you need for your perfect afternoon on Chocolate Ball Day. Of course, the main star of our afternoon is the wide variety of chocolates. But what could a refined Neopian add to chocolate for a better experience? Here is what I have to tell you!

Chocolate Ball Day features a tasting of the most varied types of chocolate. I will tell you right now, dear Neopian, what the best pairings are for each of these chocolates!

      Milk Chocolates

Classic milk chocolate! The vast majority of chocolates in Neopia are made this way. It is a super creamy chocolate, and that is exactly the quality we want to highlight! In this case, our beverage recommendation is the wonderful Post Holiday Cappuccino. In addition, nuts are also great accompaniments. The idea is that you can recall classic chocolates with hazelnuts and almonds, which is why I advise you to enjoy it with a Raisin Nut Bar.

It is also true that we offer a complete, ready-made experience of this pairing in a single chocolate: the Almond-Dipped Chocolate Biscotti! Be sure to check out this delicacy and try it along with your coffee!

      White Chocolates

White chocolates, surprisingly enough, are among the sweetest chocolates of our occasion. A good pairing in this case requires items that cut through the sweetness a bit and bring some freshness to your culinary experience. An incredible fruit, straight from the Lost Desert, is the Pyramid Strawberry. You can combine it with a coffee, and even if you are coming from Neo York, don't worry. Your Takeout Coffee will pair super well! To finish cutting through the sweet and bring a buttery flavor, a Pistachio Nut is the ideal accompaniment!

      Dark Chocolate

If the idea of white chocolate is to cut through extreme sweetness, for Dark Chocolate we have the opposite approach. Here we are looking for accompaniments that help highlight the sweet flavour just a little bit. Based on that, I bring two recommendations that explore cinnamon. Cinnamon is perfect here because it is an ingredient that isn't exactly sweet, but I guarantee that when eating it, you will feel sweeter notes even if the sugar isn't actually there. So be sure to try your Dark Chocolate with an Aisha Cinnamon Roll and Cinnamon Apple Chips!

      Chocolate with Vanilla

Chocolates with vanilla are already delicious on their own. When vanilla is added to chocolate, it plays the role of highlighting the chocolate flavours and bringing smoothness to the chocolate. To give vanilla a more starring role, you can accompany your chocolate with a more tropical fruit like the Zeenana and serve it alongside a relaxing tea like Chai Tea.

      Chocolates with Fruit

Some chocolates from our event already contain fruit. In general, they share a similar pairing style, although raspberry, strawberry, and orange do have their differences. Mint is incredible here because it matches the freshness of these fruits. So feel free to add a Mint Jelly to your tasting.

To complete it, a light tea like Hibiscus Tea is the recommended beverage for this pairing!

      Mint Chocolates

Well, if fruit chocolates pair with mint, what pairs with mint chocolates? Fruit? Correct, my dear Neopian, but I don't want to offer you repeated experiences. Each chocolate is unique, and here my recommendation for tasting a mint chocolate is a Lemon Iced Tea or a Lemon Sweetie. It is worth remembering that the base of mint chocolate is white chocolate, which is a bit different from fruit chocolates that use milk chocolate as a base. And remember that white chocolates are super sweet? Well then, nothing better than a very citrusy recommendation!

      Flavours Together and Mixed!

Some delicacies on Chocolate Ball Day will combine one or more types of chocolate. For example, the Triple Chocolate Shell is one of our delicacies that unites white chocolate, milk chocolate, and dark chocolate. It might seem difficult to find something in Neopia that can navigate so many flavors like dark and sweet, but straight from Brightvale, the Passionberry is the perfect fruit for this pairing. However, Passionberry is definitely not a common fruit, so dear Neopians can also opt for beverages with orange, such as the Orange Nova Meteor Drink, which also brings the necessary freshness to navigate between sweet and bitter.

Bonus - Chocolates to Surprise You

To close our guide, I would like to invite you to try three options proposed directly by the organizers of Chocolate Ball Day. They are different options, but you will certainly be surprised!

Chilli Chocolate : It might seem counter-intuitive, but chili pepper was actually one of the first ingredients to be paired with chocolate! When mixed with chocolate, the sensation is completely different from that spiciness we are used to. In this chocolate bar, you will experience a strong and long-lasting flavour!

Chocolate Coated Holey Cheese : You must have heard about sweet-and-savoury treats! Sweet-and-savoury treats are combinations of salty and sweet that pair very well. This contrast between cheese and chocolate brings a rich texture and a slightly sweet flavour that drifts into the acidity of the cheese.

Chocolate Asparagus : Asparagus is a very traditional delicacy in Neopian cuisine and certainly could not be left out of a combination with chocolate. It might seem crazy, especially to Neopians who already find "sweet-and-savoury" strange, but I guarantee you that veggie-sweet is incredible.

I hope your gastronomic experience on Chocolate Ball Day is incredible! Warm regards!
