Haunted Locations of Mystery Island by venturecaptalist
--------
Mystery Island is a fun tourist destination for many a Neopian. Located about 600 miles east of Neopian Central near Krawk Island and Maraqua, its near constant sunshine, white sandy beaches, and beautiful coral reefs makes it a very exciting destination for just about any milestone event. Every year thousands grace this island where the locals are, generally, very welcoming. It is essentially paradise except for the occasional storm that blows in every now and then. What the locals don’t like to advertise to many – except maybe a few brave believers – is that it is also haunted. Everyone has heard the rumours of Mystery Island being haunted through the warnings of a Lupe. Many have been cautious of a few areas on the island because of it. Few have been brave enough to explore these locations for themselves. This information is for the few. If you are brave enough to set sail for Mystery Island and truly explore all it has to offer read on to see which places should be high on your itinerary list. If you have the funds, the Tiki Tour has a special Haunted Tour you can take after 10pm NST where you can see all of these places up close in one fantastically spooky night. Geraptiku Perhaps the most widely known location on the island for being haunted. It is mostly deserted, which adds to its creepiness, and is only inhabited by a lone ghost Hissi that lives in the Deserted Tomb. The Hissi may not be the only one who lives there, however. Many have said they can hear mysterious whispers coming from deep within the city at night. It is rumored to be the original inhabitants that once lived there over 400 years ago but disappeared without a trace one night. No one has been able to figure out what happened to this colony. There were some confusing letters carved into one of the trees towards the back of the city around the time of the disappearance but no one has been able to crack the code in all these years. Others had tried to settle there but this lingering mystery and disturbing nighttime whispers have kept them from remaining there for very long. Former settlers refuse to talk about what they have witnessed, adding to the already deep mystery. Today Geraptiku remains empty of residents but still is available to explore for tourists. If you listen closely you too may be able to hear the whispers. Perhaps they hold the key to solving the longstanding mystery of the original colony. Haiku Generator What is so spooky about poetry? The fact that Rorru can only speak in haikus. At first this seems like a cute stand for what is perhaps the most intellectual poet of our era. But embedded in these poems are clues to ending the curse and finding out the identity of who did this to her. The poems can sometimes seem simply nonsensical or bizarrely heady and intellectual or paint a beautiful picture of the scenic landscapes around the island. They are not always quite what they seem. The curse seems to have not spread to others, so you can still visit freely if you are interested in reading these haikus. Perhaps if you are lucky, or unlucky, you can catch one of her slam poetry nights. Maybe you will be able to decipher Rorru’s messages and free her of the curse. Although it has been many decades and the messages still have not been fully understood nor fully decoded. The recent days make it seem like we may be on the cusp of learning the identity of who cursed Rorru. I laughed when they look So clever and talk about Being on right track Be sure to come back tomorrow for more and see if you can crack the code if you’re up for the challenge. Mystery Island Volcano The volcano has been dormant for over 2000 years but to appease it many Neopians have given it tan codestones in exchange for red codestones. This has been mutually beneficial; Neopians get rare codestones and the volcano stays under control. But red codestones have been easier to come by for many battlers leaving the volcano all but abandoned. It still yearns to feed, on codestones or whatever else it can perhaps find. Many Neopians did not know this, otherwise they would not have left the volcano in such a state. If you make it to the top you are likely to feel an earthquake. Those on the ground do not feel it. The volcano is hoping you’ll lose your footing and join the codestones and other unlucky tourists. There are several easy hikes in and around the mountain, but the main hike to the top itself is very nice and quite challenging even for those who are athletic and fit and is called Knee Knocker Trail. In some ways that remains a rite of passage to see if you are fit enough for the other training school. If you want to test your ability and perhaps your luck it may be worth a trek up regardless. Just proceed with caution – especially around marker 18. It can get quite dangerous around there, although a charming Zafara has been known to assist if you catch him at the right time. Island Mystic Located on a smaller island just to the northwest of the mainland is the home of the Island Mystic. He will read your fortune for you – if you dare. Not all of the fortunes are bad. Some can be quite nice, in fact. However the mystic is known to have a supernatural gift and communicates with the paranormal. He is known all throughout Neopia to help others with their own experiences, from a haunted doll and other objects he keeps locked up in a secret museum to haunted Neohomes that conjure up something he must take down to save the occupants. If you are brave enough to visit his museum he will let you. If you just want him to read your fortune he won’t blame you for that choice. The Beach The Beach is a very popular place for tourists to stay while they are in town. There are many huts and rooms available. It has been a well known and beloved hotel for well over a century. It offers a unique experience to stay right on the beach with its own shopping and dining experiences and can be seen from nearly the entire island with its iconic red roof. Approximately 133 years ago an Acara named Kate checked in to room 3327. She did not check out. No one has seen her since but they have heard from her. Since then other guests of that room have reported flickering lights, breezes out of nowhere, objects moving on their own, the sounds of crying, and the appearance of her initials throughout the room. There are no reports of other rooms being haunted, so you may be lucky should you decide to stay here. Or unlucky. Depends on your worldview. Conclusion Now that you know Mystery Island isn’t all sunshine and relaxing beach days it is understandable to be a little afraid of it. However, do not let these haunted areas keep you from a good time. There is still a lot of fun to be had on the island outside of these haunted areas. Perhaps you’ll find them even more fun if you decide to truly explore these haunted locations and examine the secrets of the island. Be sure to book your excursion today… if you dare!
