The Deep Sea King and his Underwater Trove!

     One way we commemorate and recognize the significant figures of Neopia is through items, and we have 17 to honour Kelpbeard. Before we showcase his humble items, though, let’s talk through who Kelpbeard is and how we got to where we are today!

     For many years, the underwater world of Maraqua has had issues with pirates on the surface. There are two major notable events that occurred when the two clashed, both of which involved the great King Kelpbeard. Unfortunately, both of these events have caused Kelpbeard to become reclusive.

     The first event was with a pirate named Captain Dread. Dread had blackmailed Maraqua into giving him a protection fee, but Kelpbeard refused to pay the crooked captain. Enraged by Kelpbeard’s refusal, Dread cursed the world of Maraqua and caused it to be destroyed by a whirlpool. Being the King and fearless leader of Maraqua, King Kelpbeard led the surviving citizens to safety and claimed their refuge as New Maraqua. Here, he built a life for his people and his family, keeping his new world a secret.

     Unfortunately, another evil pirate by the name Captain Scarblade eventually took aim at New Maraqua. Feeling the trauma of his past, Kelpbeard took an army and went to the frontlines to fight the evil captain and his crew. After a long war, Kelpbeard and his Maraquan army were victorious! Since then, Kelpbeard has lived a low-profile life, trying his best to keep New Maraqua at peace.

     Because of his victorious past, Kelpbeard’s name has been held in great honor. One of the most notable ways one sees that honour is through all the amazing items that are released based on him. Let’s take a dive - pun intended - into some of these objects.

     Battle like the King!

     One of the many reasons Kelpbeard is a great leader is that he puts himself on the frontlines of battle when trouble starts to brew. Covered head to…fin in Maractite Armour, our King swims off to defend his people from any foe.

     Kelpbeards Trident - A mighty Trident wielded by Kelpbeard. This item dishes out a massive amount of water damage. It’s so legendary and powerful that Queen Fyora sells it herself in the Hidden Tower!

     King Kelpbeards Blessing - A rare pendant worn by Kelpbeard himself. Use this to deal damage and block light damage! Fun fact: this was the first Kelpbeard item made available to Neopians!

     Let’s Play Go Fish!

     Despite being a recluse and a warrior, Kelpbeard does have a lighthearted side. He has two daughters of his own, Isca and Caylis, whom he loves and cares for dearly. You can see Kelpbeard’s playful side with these amazing toys.

     King Kelpbeard Bobblehead - A fun bouncy item that any Pet would love to have. Watch him sway his head side to side in disapproval. This item was a gift from the Advent Calendar!

     Even though Kelpbeard likes to keep to himself after all he’s been through, we are still lucky enough to get to see and honour him through all these novel items. Dare I say he deserves more? His legacy lives on through his daughters, who have a number of items of their own, and I’m sure we’ll see more items for the Deep Sea King in the future!
