Summer Fun Around Neopia

     Barbecue Break

     Sweet was definitely working on living up to her name. Known for being a great host, she anxiously hurried about to make sure everyone in the neighbourhood who had shown up to her barbecue was enjoying themselves.

     "I’d take more lemonade, Sweetie." An Elderly Bruce called out to her. She came right over with the pitcher of hand-squeezed lemonade, chuckling respectfully at the anecdote about the Bruce’s grandson. "Oh, and a hot dog when you have the chance, dear."

     "One hot dog, coming right up. Would you like some chips with that?" Sweet answered. The bruce nodded excitedly and she turned around and rushed over to her little grill, picking up a spatula and poking at the meat.

     "Sweet, over here for a picture!" She looked out to the call and then turned so the beautiful lights she had put up on her tree would be seen. She lifted her spatula and let the joy of the afternoon overtake her features.

     Yes, Sweet definitely was a social butterfly, and even though events that had everyone getting together like this were stressful and busy, she wouldn’t like to spend her weekend any other way.

      Building a Tree House

     Curtis is very excited. Today is the day that he’s finally going to finish his dream of building a tree house. There were stunning trees in his backyard that came together to create the perfect perch to place a structure on. He had years saving up, just a little extra change every week until he had enough Neopoints to fund his dream. He then spent weeks measuring, designing, and buying supplies he’d need to complete his project.

     Curtis had spent more than a week building the support beams, putting the flooring down and railing up. Then he moved on to the more exciting part of building the actual house, a cosy space with a window for him to be able to look out. His neighbours must hate him with all the pounding that construction caused, but he decided that a few dirty glances his way was worth having something he’d dreamed up since being a small Blumaroo.

     Caught up in his memories, Curtis hadn’t even realized how close to finishing he was. Before he knew it he was hitting the last nail into the roof of the house. Looking around, he recognized he had done it. He built a tree house! He wouldn’t be quitting his day job for construction work, but Curtis gave the entire creation his nod of approval.

     "Hey Curtis, you finished it! Do you want a picture to commemorate the big day?" One of his chia neighbours yelled from their own yard. Curtis walked to the edge of his tree house near his toolbox and held up his hammer as he was sure his pride was shining brightly in the picture his neighbour snapped for him. He would have to invite the chia up for some lemonade and board games sometime soon.

      Camping and Horror Stories

      Franklin absolutely loved this time of year. The weather has warmed up and he can pull out his camping gear. A few of his buddies all decided to take off for the weekend, head up to the mountains and get close to nature. They got there in the afternoon and had gotten all settled in, putting up their tent and collecting wood for the campfire they would start when the sunset.

      Billy had just taken out the marshmallows for them to heat up over the fire when horror stories were suggested. Franklin jumped at the chance to go first. He remembered when he was just a Baby Krawk, camping with a group of other young ones and the camp counsellor told a story that was scarier than it should have been for kids their age. It had given him nightmares for weeks!

      Smirking at his friends at the terror he was about to unleash on them, he stood up from his tree stump, marshmallows in hand. He had already prepared the surprise Ghostkerchief to fall from one of the tree branches. He asked Billy to take a picture at the big scary reveal.

      He was definitely disappointed by the results. Some stories are just much scarier for kids. Ah well, at least he had a good picture of the first camping trip of the year.

     Gardening Gal

      The beautiful colours are what draw Darling to an activity like gardening. This year she planted wonderful purple and yellow flowers outside and a huge array of different plants and bulbs in her greenhouse. She’s spent all Saturday pruning the lush plants, making sure they were all growing correctly. Wiping her brow, Darling picked up her watering can and walked over to the row of flowers, smiling contentedly at the day of hard work she had put in. It was incredible fulfilling work with an obvious and stunning reward.

     Darling was thinking about the advice she’d given to one of her friends about starting their own garden. She mentioned the need for a big hat to protect yourself from the sun. She herself had even planted a birch tree to offer shade for her to retreat to when things began getting too hot.

     She was so distracted in her peaceful place that she didn’t even notice her niece had come over. Her niece was practising photography and ran to get her camera to try and capture Darling’s tranquillity. She was excited to show her aunt the product, hoping it would help fuel her love for gardening in the process.

      Summer Surfing

     Surfing was Vincent’s favourite way to spend a free afternoon. Going out in the morning with his surfboard and beach bag, hitting the waves. It was exhilarating and exhausting in the best way. When he needed a break, Vincent simply sat out his towel and relaxed. He always brings a book to enjoy and always likes to watch others having fun in the water until he’s ready to get back out there. When Vincent goes to the beach he’s there from dawn till dusk.

     Today he had so much fun, socializing with other boarders, giving hints to surfing beginners and just watching young ones running and screaming, playing with each other. Before he knew it the sun was beginning to set in the distance. He packed up all his things and began the trek to get back to his house. As he was reaching the edge of the sandy beach a young Kyrii came running up to him with a camera around her neck.

     "Hi! I’m doing an article on beach activities and those who enjoy them. You would be perfect for the cover, do you mind if I take a picture of you?" She said cheerily.

     "Oh. Yes, of course! That’s so flattering." Vincent chuckled.

     He stuck his surfboard in the sand, dropped his bag and flung his towel over his shoulders. With the sun setting in the background, the excited Kyrii snapped a beautiful picture. When she confirmed that it turned out ok, they bid their goodbyes and Vincent travelled home a little bit happier than he was before if that was even possible.
