The Mystery Island Must Sees

by hectic_haley

--------

My recent travels have taken me to many Neopian lands. From the Haunted Woods, to Meri Acres Farms, all the way to the Tyrannian Plateau. This go around, I wanted to head somewhere a little warmer with nice sandy beaches, thus I embarked on an ocean journey to Mystery Island to discover the must-sees. When I arrived at the harbor, I was greeted by an island Kougra and Jubjub. They both had tears in their eyes, as they were thinking I was about to leave. I assured them that I had only just got here and had many places I needed to see. Their tears instantly went away and they smiled. They quickly whispered to one another before turning back to me and saying Kitchen Quest so I listened to their recommendation.

When I arrived at the kitchen, I was told that Mumbo Pango was always hungry and that the chef needed to cook yet another meal. He was low on supplies for a Creamy Octopus with Chervil Pie and asked if I would help him out. I explained I was a Tourist and didn’t have any supplies on me, but he insisted that I help him. He promised me a nice reward, so I caved and told him I'd try to help. He gave me 1 hour and 50 minutes to track down an Ergy Pizza, Frosted Grub Burrito, and Moldy Pancakes. I managed to find a few locals carrying this around, so for a measly 500 Neopoints I secured the ingredients. The chef was delighted and paid me 1077 Neopoints for my trouble. I asked if I could see Mumbo Pango and he sharply told me no, but asked if I wanted to help prepare another meal. I insisted that the reward should be meeting Mumbo Pango, but he refused and I left his kitchen. I still believe that visiting him is worth it though. There may be a day one of us sees Mumbo Pango.

Feeling a bit hungry, I knew I needed to stop by Tropical Foods and give the local cuisine a taste. If I could manage to swallow Grarrl Saliva Stew in Tyrannia, I could manage to eat anything on Mystery Island. When I walked in I saw someone trying to put on Flatfruit Fruit Leather Socks. I made a mental note to turn down the chance to eat that, seeing as really didn’t want it infused with foot flavors. The first food I picked out was a Roseatte Ice Cream. I have a sweet tooth and really wanted some ice cream to combat the heat. This dish was absolutely amazing. Each bite was better than the last. The shop owner informed me that I had inhaled it faster than anyone he’s ever seen. He pulled out a stopwatch and handed me a Famous Crab Burger. The thing was still moving and I was a bit horrified, but the shopkeeper insisted I give it a try. I closed my eyes and tried to force it down as quickly as possible. To be honest, it tasted like seawater and lettuce, but I finally got it down. The shopkeeper cheered and tried to offer me more food, but I politely told him no. He then pulled out a camera and made me hold the stopwatch. Apparently, I set a record and he wanted to hang my photo on the wall. You’re probably wondering why on earth I’ve included the Tropical Foods shop in my must-sees, but it is because that shopkeeper is absolutely hysterical.

My next stop was a Tourist attraction, the Island Mystic. I had heard tales from many friends who had visited him for his wisdom; they all told me his words had come true, so I was curious. When I arrived at his hut, I gave a gentle knock on the door. There was silence. I thought about knocking again but did not want to disturb him. As I turned my back to the door to head down the beach, the mystic was right in front of me. As I started to say hello, he cut me off and whispered: “You will be attacked by a pack of four-headed Shoyrus.” I tried not to laugh because who on Neopia has ever seen a four-headed Shoyru, but I wanted to be respectful. I thanked him for his time and turned back.

I went along with my day care free because there was no way I’d be attacked. However, on my way off the island, I was. The boat I was in was attacked by four-headed Shoyrus. I honestly thought it was a dream, but it wasn’t. The Shoyrus wanted some of my Neopoints, so I handed it over so they would stop harassing me. Lesson learned. You must go see the Mystic and hear your fate, but be wary of his words. They will come true.

Anyway, back to my actual exploration of the island. I hit up another Tourist destination but heading over to the Tiki Tour. I could not resist a ride around the island. My legs needed a break from all the walking I’ve done. The first stop was the jungle where the Tour guide pointed out various different plants. The lush greenery was beautiful and absolutely unique. From the jungle, we went to the base of Techo Mountain. I discovered it was one of the 16 wonders of Neopia. I asked how many people have climbed it, and the Tour guide told me not many. One day I'll climb it. Mark my words. My last stop was at the beach where some beautiful Aishas were dancing. The sun was beginning to set so the backdrop was absolutely stunning. If would recommend you put a Mystery Island sunset on your bucket list.

The whole island itself is truly a must see. This is probably not what you wanted to hear, but its the truth. If you’re planning a vacation to Mystery Island, give yourself a few days. I really wished that I had the time to play beach volleyball. I heard that the Myncis on this island are immensely talented. Of the destinations I have visited, Mystery Island may be at the top.
