The Queen Family at the Beach

by gentle_lil_queen

--------

The Grey saps joy, it swallows most,

but there is reprieve at the coast.

Mystery Island stays quite bright,

So a family sought its light.

They left behind their home of snow

To visit where the waters flow,

Where sand is shaped by waves and winds,

Where sun acts and from Grey rescinds.

The Bori takes to sunny flight,

Wings glimmering in her delight.

She sounds a trill, and in her thrill,

She spikes a beachball like a drill.

The Peophin returns the play

with a spray at the Bori fae.

Strong and fast were both their volleys

till she missed in jolly follies.

The ball soared past, landing among

A winged Ixi, rather young.

Not wanting to leave shade and book,

She hit the ball without a look.

The ball stopped at a Pteri’s spade

Where buried in sand she had laid.

Her head stuck out, she shut her eyes.

This added more depth to her sighs.

Near her was a Cybunny plush

Who chose to do a beachball rush.

They flung themself at the ball’s edge

which barely pushed past sandy wedge.

Neither Ixi nor Pteri moved,

Peophin was in ocean blue,

But Bori flew before the ball

And charged it like a sudden squall.

She hit the ball, and forth it sprung,

But then the plush was also flung.

They flew well past the Peophin

And in a wave they fell deep in.

With ball surfaced but with plush soaked,

They found their cotton water-choked.

They surfaced but then caught a flow

That dragged them out, bobbing below.

“Oh, it’s okay, I need no air!”

The plush called out to stop the scare.

“But I must go, farewell, farewell--!!”

They were grabbed before the wave’s swell.

Peophin swam back, plush in jaw

And placed them out of water’s draw.

The plush sought out the lone Pteri

but waterlogged, had to tarry.

The Ixi huffed and moved from shade

To where the other pets had played.

She looked down at the plush and said,

“Take care, you know tears she’d shed.”

She carried the plush now ashamed

to the Pteri where they had aimed.

She dropped them there and turned to find

The Bori with much on her mind.

“I’m sorry, you were in harm’s way,”

Bori said with shame and dismay.

“In catching you I’ll be faster,

thank goodness we dodged disaster.”

With sincere sorries said, she went

with Ixi ahead to lament.

Peophin swam to get the ball.

The plush just laid in sunny sprawl.

“Everyone has something to do,

But you’re still here, I still have you.”

The Pteri sighed and looked above,

Soaking the plush’s friendly love.

Soon refilled with sun soaked content.

They left at sunset, fully spent.

They’d lost the ball but gained much more:

Assurance of family’s core.

Though there’s despair both big and small,

They need not take life’s moments all.

While there’s much left to the world’s Grey,

There’s reprieve in a happy day.
