The Crimson Curse

It had an intricate design, nothing like any other of its kind he had seen before; its base was carved into what looked like tendrils wrapping themselves around the jewel, like a squid ensnaring its prey. He flipped the talisman over, on the back was a carving of a strange winged creature that he could not recognize; its body covered in scales and it had wings comparable in appearance to that of a Shoryu or a Draik.

The Curse of the Impatient Seamstress

Justine smiled brightly as she surveyed her sewing room. It was immaculate. Not only was it immaculate, but it was filled with only the finest equipment and materials available. She shrugged the bag on her shoulder off and sat it down on her table next to her sewing machine. She pulled out the pattern she had just bought and sat it down on the table. She had promised herself that she would finish this dress before morning, and she wasn’t ready to break her promise to herself.

"They Did Not Speak" by skutterbotched
Some parts of this short story will make little sense unless you read And the Sky Was Alight. "A rt thou casting thine Spell properly?” was all it took for me to silence Amulatt. Really, all I wanted was just a moment’s peace from the Eventide Peophin’s incessant questioning, and I got it. Except one moment turned into a week turned into a month. It was, admittedly, a nice month. I did get a few raised eyebrows from our other housemates, and Aerlliin followed me around for the first week berating me on the proper use of magic and how what I’d done was super irresponsible. After I threatened to do the same to her, she backed off. Very few even knew what I’d done since it’s not like Amulatt does a whole lot of talking to them, anyway. So I didn’t get in trouble for it. Well, not until an evening reading session with Flutter. Amulatt walked past us, glaring at me. “Rayneance. What did you do.” It wasn’t a question, it was a demand to know exactly what I’d done to the small Peophin. She didn’t even demand this of me over the edges of her book- she actually put the book down to address me. I knew I was in deep trouble. With her raven colored hair shadowing her face, I couldn’t see her expression. This put my anxiety levels right up there with when someone says ‘we need to talk.’

Regar and the Potion
The light from the fire was just bright enough to illuminate Regar’s desk. The parchments were rolled up onto each other, the wet ink smearing at the corners. The fire also shone an orange light onto the other fixtures of Regar’s home: the tall bookshelf filled with every magic book under the sun, potions that had been passed down from masters to apprentices for thousands of years, specimens that seemed to move when just out of eyeshot, a rusty kettle atop an old wooden end table, a thick shaggy coat that hung on the wall beside an intricate walking stick, and, finally, a musty cot, taken from an abandoned cabin and covered with moss to add comfort.

Neopian Spells: who, what, where, why and how?
Spells are powerful things, though not to be confused for spelling (although the correct spelling in casting spells is usually a requirement, some terrible fates have befallen Neopians who have accidentally spelled something wrong whilst casting their spell – for example the poor Lupe who was trying to make a new aisle in his shop and accidentally created a small isle to appear off the coast of Meridell), so both spells and spelling are powerful tools and can be misused in the wrong hands.

Foreseeing Kaia’s Future
What’s more magical than a faerie that can see the future? The answer is a faerie whose story has only just begun! While we aren’t blessed with Kaia’s gift, we can speculate at her future in Neopia, and all that she will do by Fyora’s side. This article will examine some of the possible ways the newest faerie will make her mark on Neopia, but it is by no means an exhaustive list. The future isn’t written in stone, after all!
