Quote of the Week
With a swift movement, you jam the blue arrow into the padlock that holds the chains together and turn the arrow clockwise. It clicks, and the padlock drops to the floor, allowing you to push the door inwards and rush into the next room.
Unique Gallery Ideas for One-of-a-Kind Neopians
Plushies, Slushies and Petpets, oh my! Are you bored with the standard gallery collections? Do you prefer to stand out from the crowd? Are you maybe realizing that you're never going to get that Dr Sloth Plushie and thinking of jumping (space)ship to another hobby altogether? Don't fret, friend! We have five incredible ideas for anyone looking to start a new gallery that will amaze, delight, confuse, and have all your Neofriends asking, "You started collecting…what?". Let’s get into some clever collections!
Idea 1: The Ultimate Deli
Delight King Skarl with something way better than a joke and set up a gallery dedicated to the meatiest and cheesiest delicacies in all of Neopia! We aren't just talking about plain Deli Turkey Slices or a BLT Sandwich with Cheese, by the way. There are hundreds of incredibly unique, tasty items that can be included in your Ultimate Deli Gallery. From the questionable lack of nutrition found in the Lean Meat Kebab to a succulent and vibrant Crimson Ham any pet would drool over, your collection is sure to have your visitors craving a mid-day snack break (or full-on feast!). Don't limit yourself to meats and cheeses, either! |
How to Get Sick — and How to Feel Better
Getting sick is no fun. Frankly, neither is taking medicine even though you know it will make you feel better. There are many known bugs out there that can get your Neopet sick; some species have allergies that will get them sick as well. There are also many known cures with specific items to pick up at the Neopian Pharmacy, Lost Desert Medicine, or Remarkable Restoratives. You may also get lucky at the Healing Springs and get your active Neopet or all your Neopets cured. I will discuss both illnesses (so you can know to avoid certain things) and cures (in hopes of helping you care for your sick Neopet) in this handy guide! Getting Sick Allergies Most species can eat anything; however, there are a few that have a bit of a sensitive system and are allergic to the following: Kyriis are allergic to apples – any apple item will give them Itchy Scratchies. Skeiths are allergic to cheese – any cheese item will give them Neezles. Quiggles are allergic to cream – any cream item will give them Neezles. Tonus are allergic to neggs – any negg item will give them Neezles. Battledome Many items in the Battledome can be used against your Neopet to get them sick. |
 | A Look At The Haunted Woods Housing Market
*Neopian Times – Homes & Living Section*
While prospective buyers in Neopia Central continue to compete fiercely over well-maintained properties with straightforward road access, and Merridellian buyers might *duke* it out over a studio in a converted palace, a quieter (though not necessarily silent) shakeup is underway some distance to the southwest. Homes in and around the Haunted Woods and Neovia are selling at a pace that would surprise many who have visited the area, and at prices that would surprise anyone who has stayed.
"It's been unprecedented season," says Edgar Knell, a property consultant at Mourne & Knell Estate Agents, which has operated out of a partially collapsed building on the outskirts of Neovia for the past eleven years. "Of course we always see a bump around Halloween, but this year it kept rising all through the Advent season, and possibly into Spring. The appetite for properties with character is simply enormous right now. Buyers are sophisticated. They understand that a home with history is a home with *soul*."
I suspect he may not be speaking figuratively.
**What's Leading the New Demand?**
The appeal of the Haunted Woods and surrounding region might be difficult to understand for those unfamiliar with the area. It receives minimal direct sunlight, few roads are well maintained, and the ones into the deeper woodland are better described as "suggested routes" than actual roads. Several properties currently on the market are listed as having cellars with contents that are, to quote one listing, "charmingly mysterious." |

"Neopia’s Runway: Grumpy King Garb" by surging Tinkly intro music begins to play, although the screen remains black. The narrator’s voice begins, although they are still off-screen and unknown to the viewer. NARRATOR: Welcome to another edition of Neopia’s Runway! For those of you joining us for the first time, welcome to the only fashion-forward show on Neovision! I am your host, Ellsworth. Red curtains appear on screen and rise to reveal ELLSWORTH, alone on a stage with a microphone. ELLSWORTH: A quick rundown for our viewers – each week we have a special guest of honour from across Neopia, for whom three hand-picked contestants are tasked with making two outfits for. The contestants are not given any information ahead of time about who that guest may be, putting their fashion skills to the ultimate test! ELLSWORTH: This week our special guest is none other than King Skarl! Freshly de-greyed and ready to rock, the King is looking forward to adding colour and pizazz back into Meridell. ELLSWORTH pauses for a dramatic flair, as the off-screen studio audience erupts into loud, frantic cheers. King Skarl shuffles onto the stage slowly, his heavy steps echoing through the soundstage. He barely acknowledges the audience, uttering a throaty "harrumph" in their general direction. ELLSWORTH: Today’s contestants will be Kalandra, Clop, and Ascor! Now folks, why don’t you tell the audience a little bit about yourselves? The camera pans over to the Styling Studio where KALANDRA, CLOP, and ASCOR are positioned behind workstations. It zooms in on each one as they introduce themselves. KALANDRA: Well hello. I'm Kalandra, one of Neopia's top poker players. I bring my fashion to the game and the game to my fashion. My specialties? Smizing and proportionizing. CLOP stomps with his front... |
"The Altador Cup From the Side" by weiyannn The sun was just beginning to rise behind the magnificent Colosseum of Altador. Rays of golden streaks framed the huge structure. Despite the early morning, groups of Neopians from all over the globe were beginning to gather outside the Colosseum. Many donned jerseys, caps, and all sorts of memorabilia in support of their favourite Altador Cup team. It was the first official day of the Cup, and press had already been ongoing for a week. Energy and excitement buzzed palpably in the air. Cliques had already begun to form as friends and long-time loyal supporters chatted excitedly about their hopes for the year.
Maizie, the Cloud Bruce, was no exception. Wearing a jersey of her favorite team, along with a cap in preparation for the long days under the sun, and a foam finger tucked under her wing, she was ready as can be for the Cup. She had been waiting for this all year. She even switched out her usual blue bow for a handmade cotton scarf she made, with her favourite team’s logo painted in the middle. It wasn’t her first time to Altador, having been to previous Altador Cups, but it has been a while, since the previous year’s Cup was cancelled due to the grey that affected Neopia.
She stood in line with the other Neopians with her ticket ready in hand, bouncing in anticipation to enter the Colosseum.
“Next! Tickets please!” A gruff Grarrl ushered her forward.
Maizie handed her ticket over. As the Grarrl scanned her ticket, she stood on her tiptoes to look over his shoulder for a glimpse of the arena. She was so excited!
“Sorry, this ticket’s not valid.” The Grarrl handed the ticket back and waved her off to the side. “NEXT! TICKETS PLEASE!”
What?! How could this be?! She stared at her ticket in shock. “Excuse me, sorry, there’s no way-“
“Can’t you see we’re busy here? Go find Customer Service. Next! Tickets please!” |
"Headline" by black_skull725 Tavi twiddled her paws nervously as she awaited her turn at the Faerieland Library circulation desk. Several Neopets in front of her were returning large stacks of library books which Seshatia seemed thrilled about. "Did you enjoy these?" she asked a Brown Peophin. "Oh certainly, I never knew that there was a trick to making faerie friends!" Seshatia sighed. "It's not that complicated as the book makes it out to be, but it's certainly an interesting read." Soon it was Tavi's turn so she stepped up to Seshatia. She hung her head slightly. "Hello, um, Tavi was it? We met once at the void council. I don't see a book with you. Are you needing help finding one?" Tavi hesitated. "Well, sort of. You see, that book about magical herbal teas and their recipes along with their benefits… I brought that with me to the Battle for Altador and uhh, I lost the book while I was helping rescue folks. It might be under a pile of rubble." Seshatia glanced at Tavi with a piercing glare. And then she softened it. She then wheeled around the desk over to Tavi. Shaking her head, she began. "I'm sad to hear. The book was a rare one in my collection. I must go to Altador to search for it as it may be one of the few copies left in Neopia." "Well, since I feel terrible for losing it, I should come with you. Besides, it may involve some hiking." "It certainly isn't your fault for losing it, but I would indeed appreciate the help. You might be able to tell me where you last remember having it I guess." Tavi, figuring that she'd have to help search for the book was already packed and ready for hiking. Seshatia, on the other hand, needed to gather more things. She needed a bag that could hold her foldable crutches. She also had an emergency wheelchair repair kit with tools that she tossed into the bag. She also packed a few sets of clothing for herself. She then strapped the bag to the back of...
