Top 10 Favourite Neopian Pastimes

     As a fellow Neopian, I did not think that when I was 7 years old that I’d be logging in twenty-plus years later to find myself side by side amongst old and new friends. While the Neopia we once knew only exists in our memories, the evolution of this world has always brought me back.

     If you’re returning to Neopets in Y28, welcome back! If you never left, welcome home.

     In honour of the 1050th Neopian Times issue, I would love to take a moment of your time to talk about my top 10 favourite things to do on Neopets as someone who frequently finds themselves lurking about.

     First up on the list: collecting stamps.

     It feels like it’s the best time to get back into, or even begin, your album collection. With so many events and re-releases of collectibles, achieving your goals and adding another +1 to your album has been so rewarding these past few months. There are more opportunities for all Neopians to have a chance at completing their most coveted album pages.

     Let’s talk about that pet customization

     Whether you frequent the NC Mall, or love to shop at our local Neopian shops, the amount of options to dress up your neopets and give them their own style has been astonishing. No matter the style, the pattern, the world, or design - there’s something for every Neopet out there.

          On the hunt for new secret avatars

     Haven’t you heard? We’re getting tons of releases for new secret avatars, and what a joy it has been to figure it out with the community. So many pieces that were long lost in the Neopets AIM icon pages have been released officially as secret avatars, so put your thinking caps on, Neopians, we got some avatars to find!

     New dailies, free stuff!

     I don’t know about you but I don’t remember this many dailies when I was younger. Who doesn’t love free stuff?! (Okay, free sometimes. If you’re lucky.) Take the time to explore Neopia and find some new locations and new prizes that you can revisit every day. If you haven’t been on in a while, you’re in for a treat!

     Trades and auction house

     Who doesn’t love making Neopoints?! As mentioned above, there have been so many events and re-releases of high-value items through those events over the past couple of months that have allowed for many Neopians to acquire high valued items that sell for tons of Neopoints. Whether you want to maximize on your interest or become the next Neopian billionaire, the time is great right now to save or splurge!

     Art contests

     Did you hear about the new contest prizes revamp as well? If you’re not quick at restocking or sniping, or missed out on some events over the decades, have no fear! Art contests prize gallery has gone through an update over the years, which have allowed for Neopians creativity to be rewarded with some nifty prizes. Some might even say they were never in it for the prizes, so how rewarding it must be on its own to express yourself through your words, your art or even your crafts! Neopets has always been a creative outlet for me so what a thrill it is for an opportunity to share your art with others.

     New ongoing plot

     If you haven’t been around in years, there have been some shifts and changes in the Neopia you once knew. Welcome to the darkness of the abyss in the Void, muahahaha! No really, it’s never-ending, we are currently in an abyss. Catch up on the chapters while the plot is on a break and see for yourself. Get your Neopet geared up and trained for battle or send them to volunteer at the hospital. You may find some funky residue around here and there but… we’re pretty sure it’s safe.

     Kadoatery

     Okay, I know it’s not for everyone but as a Certified Kadoatie Advocate (yeah, I made this up), how could you say no to the precious Kadoaties?! It’s a great way to use up some of those food items you’ve stored in your safety deposit box for years, or you can even sell the food to allow others to feed them too! I also heard if you feed a certain amount, there’s another nifty avatar around the corner… *whistles* Whoa, whaaaat? Who said that?

     Outside partnerships and collaborations

     If you’re like me, sometimes you want more than a virtual prize to hold your dearest memories of the best game out there. Neopets has expanded on partnerships and collaborations on merchandise offline, and created a Neopets themed cookbook, Monopoly board game, some real life physical Plushies and soon-to-be-released adorable bubble tea blind boxes (Whew! Try saying that 10 times fast). Don’t forget, some of these real life merchandise items might also come with a rare item code, so don’t forget to log back in and head to Grundo’s Warehouse so you can redeem them!

     Last but not least, the Neopian community.

     While not a new concept, there’s a lot of us still here. How great it has been to be able to log in and see familiar, friendly old faces. We’re all here to relive the nostalgic good ol’ days and through that bond, we’re created a wonderful community to play a game we all love together. There have been some amazing people I’ve crossed paths with because of this site, so I look forward to seeing you all around again and hope we continue to carry on that joy with us.
