The Lupe vs. Chia Debate, a Gelert's Point of View

by epk's Gelert, egold

Continuing on from Issue 63's A Letter to Lupes - A Warning and Issue 65's Who Let the Lupes Out? Different takes on the Debate.

Now I've seen some pretty harsh conflicts between the two NeoPets, Lupes and Chias. Being a simple Gelert, I don't know much better, for I have been a Gelert for most of my life, except for my stages as an Uni. But as any good NeoPet would know, Chias are on the lower end. But Lupes are doing so good either. Give me a bit of your time and I'll show you neither pet has won this debate. Give me more time and I'd tell you how Gelerts feel about this, which is really shocking to all of Neopia's Lupe and Chia Owners.

Chias-Victim?
First of all, Chias. They are very... fruity. The line of Magical Chia Pops turns them into a fruit, while other NeoPets just enjoy the terrific taste. So Chias are spoiled, are they not? That is one debate. Let me correct you. What if a Faerie Chia likes being Faerie and never has been able to taste an Avocado Chia Pop? Although I heard those are the worst flavoured, a Chia probably needs to taste it to believe it. And the other flavours sound soooo good! So unless the owner wants to buy an extra Faerie Paint Brush, it isn't gonna happen anytime soon.

And Chias, do they really deserve all the games? Chia Bingo, Ice Cream Factory, Gormball, Scarab21, Better Than You (The Co-Host,) Chia Bombers, and the Neopian Stock Market (Nigel)! They are spoilt there, no doubt about it. But why? It's believed it keeps Chias active, so they can run away from danger such as Lupe attacks. A chubby Chia wouldn't just make a good feast, it would most likely become one.

Are Chias really the victim of Lupe Attacks? Yes and no. 5% of the Lupe Population, which makes approx. 0.06% of Neopia Population, belong to LWH, which is Lupes Who Hunt. They prefer the meaty Chia, not the chocolate Chia. In fact, Lupes who are put in the pound are more likely to join LWH than Lupes who leave a normal life. You never know when your Lupe is part of the LWH! May I remind you, all Lupes love the taste of Chias, but since they don't want to really eat them, they use Chocolate Chias.

Lupes-The Enemy?
Now look at the Lupes. They make up more than 4.5% of Neopia's population, compared to Chias 1.90%. One reason for this is because Chias are hunted so often by the LWH. The other reason is because of some negative feedback towards Chias, or because Chia Morphing Potions only came out recently, while Lupe ones have been out for quite a while. Whatever the reason, Lupes must be appreciated more. But that isn't all fun and games. Lupes try very hard to make the cut for Lupe-themed stuff, but only one Lupe can and there are so many! So Lupes aren't spoiled as much as you think.

But here is the shocking news. Lupes in Sakhmet are treated as royalty. Can you believe it? King Coltzan the I, II, and III are the most famous Lupes, while King Gala-Ra, who was discovered to be born in 20 B.N, was famous for his mind-boggling puzzles. The only other species known to be Sakhmet King to date are 1 Usul and King Hepehas-Ru, the Kacheek. Look at all that special treatment, but that doesn't end it! Tyrannia's Sabre-X, Omelette Supervisor and Strategic War Leader, is also up there. They also are considered the VIP's of Terror Mountain, for their fish stories about how they saved the dwindling population, or Garon, who conquered the Ice Caves, also considered a special Lupe by the Faerie Queen. Probably the only good news about this is that in Neopia Central, they only have the Toy Store and 2 plushies.

And may I remind you, Lupes want Chias to survive for 2 reasons. A) Reputation, and B) Emergency Snacking. So they do donate masses of Chocolate Chias to the Money Tree. So next time your Chia sees a Lupe, hand it a Chocolate Chia to remind it how good that Chocolate one is!

+ Gelerts-More of a Victim than you Think?
I'm done here. Good-bye! Shoo! Oh, your interested? This isn't really much...I just wanted to say a little something. Notice the +? If you really want to...here we go! Between the dwindling Chia Population and the Soaring Lupe Population lies the Gelert. Gelerts are very loyal, like the Chia, but are very cunning and can attack the enemy with some powerful attacks like the Lupe. So they are good NeoPets for the people who can't decide which, or want both but only have one more slot left. But Gelerts are also very much unlike both pets. It hardly brags, (I'm trying not to brag myself!) while the Lupe brags either about how many Chias it's eaten or the Chia may say how many games it has. The poor Gelert, who is the 3rd most recipient of bragging, is very hurt by this, and may attack the enemy if they continue. The bragging causes some emotional breakdown. The Gelert pays the victim back with 10x the force. The Gelert however, does recover over time, for some unexplained force (Said to be the Faerie Lupe of Forgiveness) will tell them why they did it and show the Gelert that it is better.

So that was my extra bit, sounds like I made it up, but take it from a Gelert, those words are harsh! So I've cleared up that Lupes and Chias better clean up their behavior, before they are attacked by a Gelert, or maybe Lost Soul, the legendary Gelert who will hop from pet to pet and is the best Gelert in the Battledome. Check out his collectable card! Also, Jetsams and Flotsams, my Koi friend, splashgold, paid me 20 NP if I mentioned you guys started a debate...I mean Jetsams eat toooo many Flotsams, right? Take a stand, Flotsam!

Owners Note: I'd like to say I'm going to continue writing soon, but for now only my pets are. I'm working on a cool article for Flash Games, which I have already published, but it will be revised and has a few more games! It appeared in Issue 29 and 30. Also, I'd like to see a debate section, maybe if we work hard enough NeoPets will make a new debate section! See you later. Also, Lupe and Chia owners, feel free to flame egold...heh...err...but not too harsh. Sorry if he offended you, but you would probably write an article too if you couldn't stand all this commotion.
