Three Days in Neopia - A Faerie Story: Part Two

The Evil Snowball
In Part One, Nialyind and Kithi go on a field trip to Neopia for their class. They get challenged to a battle by Zhaylesa, the Ice Queen, and the Negg Faerie has given Nialyind a Negg blessed by the Faerie Queen. Now, Nialyind and Kithi are flying back to Shirnyn, where they plan to spend the night.

The new characters are an owner called redwall_freak and her pets, a green Kau named Nharetti, a silver Kougra named Siusabre, and two green Techos named NaColia and Tisane. There is also a Dark Faerie named Asvorna.

Kithi waited on the center square in Shirnyn. She had heard Nialyind tell her to fly faster, but it had been ten minutes since she landed and Nialyind still had not arrived. There was only one possibility she could think of…whatever danger there had been, it must have happened to Nialyind.

She was distracted from the circle of her thoughts when two NeoPets and their owner walked up to her. "Excuse me," the owner said, "but do you happen to have any Neggs for sale?"

"Actually, I do," Kithi said. "I have a purple one and a green one."

"Great! I'll offer you 300 NP for the Neggs"

"That's a good deal. Sure."

Suddenly, sirens started flashing. "What's going on?" the Kougra said, startling.

"Alert!" a huge voice yelled from somewhere above. "There is a Dark Faerie alert going into effect! Go into your homes. The police will soon work the spells to protect this city from evil."

Confusion flashed across Kithi's face. The owner saw it. "You're a visitor to Shirnyn, aren't you?" she asked.

"I am. My name is Kithi."

"Cool. You can stay at my house, if you like. I'm redwall_freak, and these are my pets. Nharetti is the Kau and Siusabre is the Kougra."

"Thank you."

"Come on! Let's go see what NaColia and Tisane have made of the house," Siusabre said excitedly. "They're twin Techos, and they're very mischievous."

The four of them raced as fast as they could to the house, where two pets that must be NaColia and Tisane were sitting at the dinner table.

"About time, everyone!" Tisane said. "We've made dinner for you: Neotacos and ice cream!"

"Sounds delicious!" redwall_freak said. "Kithi, they always make Neotacos in packages of six, so I'll make you one."

NaColia flipped on the black boom box and everyone started talking.

"So, Kithi, I'm looking for a book to read now. Are there any books you've read that I haven't?" Nharetti asked.

"I'm reading The Nimmo Maze, by Nimi Horn," Kithi answered. "But I can't lend it to you. It's a school book, and it's really rare."

Kithi was thinking, This is getting a little too close to the fact that I'm not really a Kougra. And then she thought of Nialyind…

…who was unconscious and being flown through the air.

Nialyind woke up in a room of what seemed like a palace. Whoever owned this place seemed to like the color black, she noted. Black carpeting, black wallpaper…it almost made her lose herself in the darkness. Then she remembered that it had been a dark Faerie approaching her.

"Tea?" a voice asked. There was definitely something wrong with that voice. If I get out of here, Nialyind thought, I'm definitely going to get extra credit on my report. "Yes, please," she said. "Chamomile." She concentrated and muttered, "Night vision."

It didn't work. Then, she looked down at her body and realized it was not that of a Shoyru, it was her normal one of an air Faerie And air faeries, of course, do not have that ability. "I wish Kithi was here."

"Here is your tea," the voice said. Nialyind remembered that one Faerie could always see another and closed her eyes. Sure enough, the figure was an Uber-Darkness Faerie

"My name is Asvorna. Sugar?"

"No thank you," Nialyind said.

"What do you want?"

"What do you mean?"

"Well, why am I here? I was flying along merrily in Neopia until you showed up."

"Cut the attitude, foolish Faerie," Asvorna said. "I help you fight in the Battledome against Zhaylesa if you give me the evil snowball wand. Do you understand?"

Nialyind narrowed her eyes. "Yes."

"So?"

Nialyind concentrated. She knew for sure that she was about to break every single rule, anyway. The saying went, "Never trust a Dark Faerie unless she has sworn by a greater amulet to obey you." So she should say no. But then Nialyind would be destroyed and would never be rescued. Maybe she should go along with it…but who knew what power Asvorna would have with the Evil snowball in her hands? Kithi would know what to do…

Actually, Kithi didn't know what to do, except tell everyone why she was picking at her strawberry ice cream, which had previously been her favorite food in the world.

"Listen…" she said abruptly, and redwall_freak, Nharetti, Siusabre, NaColia, and Tisane turned to look at her. "I have to tell you a secret. None of you can tell this to anyone."

"What?" all the pets asked at the same time.

"I am not really an ordinary Kougra like you, Siusabre," Kithi said. "I'm a fire Faerie here on a trip to Neopia with my best friend Nialyind - she's an Air Faerie and these Dark Faeries here are all my fault, because I found an Evil Snowball Wand in the Ski Lodge and gave it to Nialyind. We were flying back - Nialyind higher than me - and I think the Dark Faeries kidnapped her for the Evil Snowball Wand. This is a big secret, remember!"

"Can I help you rescue Nialyind, Kithi?" all four pets said at once.

"If your owner agrees."

"Pretty please, redwall_freak?"

"Nharetti and Siusabre, you can, but I need to look after you two."

"Thank you, redwall_freak!"

"Why can't we come along?"

Kithi grinned.

"Because you two completely trashed the house yesterday when I let you try to repaint it. You are not supposed to use cloud paint brushes from the Rainbow Pool to paint this house."

Kithi followed Nharetti and Siusabre into another part of the house so they could start their rescue plan.

"Did you bring any weapons here with you, Kithi?" Siusabre asked.

"I have a lot of codestones, and I also have all the abilities of a level three pet. Maybe I also can have all the fire abilities. Aside from that, I brought a Supersize, a Grand Lightning Beam, a purple Invisihat, and a Greater Orb of the Fire Faerie and a Wand of Flamebolt my mom let me borrow. Oh, and I have one other thing that might help us, a Negg that was blessed by the Faerie Queen."

"Good. We don't have much of anything," Nharetti said. "I have a lot of Neopoints, but I'm saving up for a pet of my own."

"Well, I do have a Nova I found and a Downsize... just to protect myself around Neopia," Siusabre said. "Where do you think Nialyind would be?"

"Probably in Faerieland," Kithi said. "Which means we'll have to fly. How can we get there?"

Meanwhile, Asvorna said, "I shall decide for you." And she took the Evil snowball. Nialyind's eyes glazed over...
