Quote of the Week

My mind suddenly raced as I realized what this meant. Flight of Fancy was out on a mountainside somewhere, lost to the elements. My grandfather’s long-held dream and mine was now gone. Was this really how my journey ended?

Around the World in 80 Turns: The Games of Neopia

Welcome to the International Game Library, Neopia’s largest collegiate collection of interactive games! Here you can borrow countless games and play them in our soundproof rooms or out in the fields behind the library building. Our trained game scholars offer demonstrations every weekend for packed classrooms. Brightvale University prides itself on teaching not only about how to play a game, but also the historical and cultural significance behind the game pieces, turn actions, or game board. Today we will cover a selection of some of our most popular games. This resource is open to the tri-kingdom community: we hope that you will bring your entire family to play. Sorcerer’s skirmish – Origin: Meridell This game has two variants, one that takes place in Meridell and another in Darigan Citadel. The object of the game is to capture the opponent’s Eyrie sorcerer first. It features small, magical play tokens that all have different attack, defense or speed stats. To capture an opponent’s token, your attack stat must be greater than their defense. When moving your pieces on the game board, take note of various potions: red, green, and blue. These may hold the key to either victory or defeat. But be warned: what you can do to your opponent they can do to you as well!

Tales from my NeoDeck: Adventures in Card Collecting

So you want to learn about the world of collectable cards? Well, look no further! Today, I’m going to tell you all about my experience with collectable cards which will include stories about getting cards, my favourite cards, and even some tips about how to start a card collection of your own! Everyone has to start somewhere, and the easiest place to start is with the cheapest cards. No need to run out and try and grab those million NP cards right away - if you look around Neopia, you can find plenty of cards at reasonable prices, even down to just 1NP! A few cards I would recommend to beginners looking to get started would be Flutter, Gorunda the Wise, and Samuel No Eyes. Not that there’s anything wrong with those cards - they have plenty of interesting stories behind them! But if you’re a little short on NP or want to start a collection that won’t break the bank, see if you can get your hands on those cards in particular. If you’re on the hunt for new cards, it doesn’t take a Space Station rocket scientist to figure out the first place to look: the Collectable Card shop! It’s exactly what it says on the tin. A friendly blue Buzz shopkeeper is there to assist you with whatever you need, whether it’s telling you what new cards are in stock or explaining the lore behind some of the fancy...

What To Bring On Your First Adventure

Hello, intrepid traveller, and my heartfelt congratulations to you on reaching the decision to widen your horizons and explore the many landscapes of Neopia beyond your own home. All too many people ignore the call to adventure, despite their wandering thoughts. “I wonder what life is like on the other side of that mountain range? What foods do they eat across the sea? What if someone on the other side of these fields was destined to become my new best friend?” It’s easy to keep your head down and continue to plod along in a life in which you’re comfortable. It’s much harder to take the risk to see the world for yourself, but it’s so much more rewarding. I’m immeasurably proud of you for being willing to take that first leap into the unknown. However, I urge caution before you run headlong into the wild. Though you may think you’re ready to go with your Simple Burlap Cloak and Commemorative Stainless Steel Water Bottle, there are a couple more items which may help you along your journey that would be prudent to bring. These roads can be treacherous, and you must be prepared to defend yourself should the need arise. There are a variety of ways to accomplish this, and everyone will have different strengths and preferences. I’ve taken it upon myself to provide you with a list of potential items of defense that should suit a wide variety of personalities. Take a gander, and see if anything catches your fancy.

“Our informants have spotted the Grey Painter and Vira just south of the Haunted Woods. We suspect they are making their way to Altador. You must intercept them at all costs! Please, be careful,” Queen Fyora said into a microphone while Dr. Landelbrot aimed a special camera at her. “That’s it, the end of the recording,” Dr. Landelbrot said. “Transmitting now…” The Faerie Queen sighed as she stepped out of the room and back into the council chamber. “How dare you accuse me of cursing your land?! You shut your mouth right now!” shouted an angry King Skarl. Queen Fyora glared at King Skarl and Lord Darigan. “Stop! The world is in crisis and all you can think about is a settled matter from years ago!” She shook her head in severe disappointment, calmly made her way to the balcony door, and floated outside, gently shutting the door behind her...

"A Roll of Fate" by discardedcrayons
Charloton toiled in her ramshackle room, always the prisoner of someone else's games. Never free. Never to have clarity of a world without someone controlling her every move. This had been her fate for as long as she could remember. As far back as Charloton could remember, she had been under the control of a faceless Moehog known as Grimoiry. She had no idea when or how this came to be her life, but there was a signed contract that Grimoiry whipped out any time Charloton tried to disobey. Today had pushed Charloton to find a way free of her contract. She was tired of being rented out to Faitel to play Fashion Doll for his crumbling fast fashion empire. Charlie was tired of using her power of persuasion to con Neopians into buying the cheap clothes under the ruse of high quality fashion. Ugga Shinies produced higher quality products than Faitel currently did...

"A Cybunny's Guide to RPG" by sleepiestkitty
Good Games was a fun, independently owned shop managed by a kind-hearted Elderly Boy Tonu, nestled in the colourful arts district of Neopia Central. While catering to both the novice and the most experienced player, they also provided customers with a wide selection of gaming essentials from dice and cards to board games and tabletop role-playing adventures. The locals had dubbed it “Gamers Haven” — most notably for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Soon after, Tony the Elderly Boy Tonu’s small business became an after-school tradition for most young Pets, keeping it afloat most days. Or so it had seemed before that coming year. As a lesser known mom-and-pop shop, Good Games typically only saw a pawful of Pets per day, more if it was a good week – until last year, when the Neopian Times caught wind of their fourth annual RPG convention to...
