The Special Plushies of TDMBGPOP

     If you’re not familiar with that seemingly random string of letters, TDMBGPOP is the “short” name for The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity. You’ll find this stuffed little guy hanging on the tree in Faerieland… And, sadly, no matter how much you want to, you cannot take him home with you. But that doesn’t mean he’s useless. Far from it! For users who want to collect all the plushies in Neopia, or those just looking for some unique and interesting ones, TDMBGPOP’s got your back! If you’re lucky, you may see something like this:

     “It was very kind of you to visit this worn little plushie. Oh, what's this? There is a NEW plushie on the ground nearby! You're sure you can give the plushie a new home.”

     While The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity will not leave his tree, he may entrust you with a plushie of your own to take care of! These plushies can only be received through TDMBGPOP, not purchased through the Plushie Palace. Prior to 2018, he gave out one of six plushies. He no longer rewards these, but they can still be found inexpensively in user shops. Currently, he can give out ten plushies that fall into one of two categories: the discarded plushies and the painted faerie plushies. Let's take a look at both of them.

     The discarded plushies are a little like The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity himself. They’re just a little run down and in need of some TLC! There are five exclusive discarded plushies that you can get from TDMBGPOP: the Discarded Cloud Krawk Plushie, the Discarded Fire Mynci Plushie, the Discarded Maractite Ogrin Plushie, the Discarded Stealthy Vandagyre Plushie, and the the Discarded Camouflage Yurble Plushie. These five plushies are all regular Neopet species painted in interesting colours who were tragically left without an owner. Note that these plushies also don’t currently have a “non-discarded” form, so you won’t find a Maracite Ogrin Plushie or a Fire Mynci Plushie around Neopia. The only stuffed versions you’ll find of these Neopets are the ones left discarded around TDMBGPOP. So don’t be put off by their sad eyes! With a little love, they’ll look perfect in your plushie gallery, either among their own species or their own colours. Or, you may want to create a gallery of tattered, headless, reject, and discarded plushies. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, after all!      The second set of plushies given out by TDMBGPOP are a little more unique. You may have heard of the phenomenon of “cross painting.” A cross-painted Neopet is a Neopet painted one colour, but with the wearables of a different colour. For example, you could paint a Neopet with a Pirate Paint Brush, then repaint them Gold, and have a Golden Pet in Pirate clothes! This can be done with any colour that has wearables, like Pirate, Royal, and Desert. Some Pet species, such as Aisha, have unique collars that come with every colour!

     The other set of plushies given out by TDMBGPOP are somewhat inspired by cross painting, but they have a unique feature not even cross-painted Neopets have. All of these plushies have a regular “base” colour for their bodies and the wings of their species' Faerie colouring! Since wings are part of the Faerie paint job and not a removable wearable, you actually cannot cross-paint a regular Neopet in this way (though other wing wearables may get you close!) As of right now, the only way to enjoy these unique “double-painted” Neopets is through these five plushies.

     The plushies you can get from these categories are the Candy Faerie Jetsam Plushie, the Checkered Faerie Blumaroo Plushie, the Ice Faerie Chia Plushie, the Speckled Faerie Chomby Plushie, and the Water Faerie Usul Plushie. These plushies show a unique combo not seen anywhere else in Neopia, so they are a worthy addition to your collection! Now you only have to decide whether to put your Checkered Faerie Blumaroo Plushie next to your Checkered plushies, your Faerie plushies, or your Blumaroo plushies!

     So how do you get these ten unique plushies? Once a day, you can visit The Discarded Magical Blue Grundo Plushie of Prosperity. Unfortunately for plush hunters, you are not guaranteed to get a plushie from him. You may find Neopoints, receive a random toy, or perhaps nothing at all will happen. Sometimes, seeing the poor TDMBGPOP in such a state will make your Pet sadder! But if you visit him every day, there’s a good chance you’ll start seeing these plushies. It won’t take long until you have a solid collection of them!

     Have you received most of them, but are struggling to get that last one or two plushies from him for your collection? One more secret -- a lot of people visit TDMBGPOP for a chance at the avatar he randomly gives out. That means many people get these plushies without wanting them. You can often find them in user shops for incredibly cheap, or even under the Money Tree. But shhh! Don’t tell TDMBGPOP people are discarding the plushies again! He’ll be heartbroken.

     So, dear plushie collector, if the TDMBGPOP entrusts you with caring for a discarded or double-painted plushie, you best take good care of it! They’re a great toy for your Neopets or will look wonderful in a gallery.
