The Faeries Favourites: Chocolate Edition

by aleu1986

--------

Chocolate! With the arrival of The Month of Gathering, invitations to the exclusive Chocolate Ball start to get sent out, and Neopias gourmet connoisseurs will gather to marvel at this year's chocolate creations. We all have our favourite types of sweets and candies, and this journalist has traveled Neopia far and wide to hunt down some of Neopias famous faeries to ask them about their favourite types of chocolates and desserts.

          Fyora, the Faerie Queen

     Chocolate Cloud Cookie

A chocolatey treat that wont spoil your appetite.

We begin in Faerieland, with none other than Fyora, the Faerie Queen herself. She naturally supports her own land and prefers local produce. She admits to eating lightly (in the sense that she prefers smaller portions) and says her favourite treat is the Chocolate Cloud Cookie.

"While not a treat I would serve a guest, these little morsels are perfect at any time of day as they will not spoil my next meal. They are light and airy, perfectly sweet with chocolate filling. These I quite enjoy and will happily have a few any day of the week."

     Chocolate Mousse Macarons

     Crunch into chocolatey goodness.

When it comes to serving visitors and important Neopians, the Faerie Queen knows what will suit the tastes of Neopia’s elite.

"Chocolate Mousse Macarons are the perfect little mouthful. No mess, no spills, and I can assure you no crumbs are left on any plate!"

It`s no doubt that Neopians from far and wide share the Faerie Queen`s taste in decadent chocolate treats. With a crunchy meringue and a soft, airy mousse you`re getting the best of both worlds.

          Jhudora the Dark Faerie

     Chilli Chocolate

Gives new meaning to the term - Hot Chocolate!

"None of that sickly sweet, milky chocolate stuff for me, I`m a Dark Faerie! Anything with less than 70% cocoa is for wimps! I like my chocolate with kick and spice!"

Jhudora is adamant that chocolate tastes best when it`s bitter rather than mild, and has a spicy flavour instead of the more blander variants such as white chocolate. When asked if she indulges in any particular sweet on special occasions, she first deflects, then finally admits to being partial to the Striped Chia Pop, an ice cream flavour with liquorice and vanilla blended together. When the journalist remarks on the combination of two fairly mild flavours, Jhudora gives a glare that prompts a hasty retreat and shuts down the desire to ask any further questions.

          The Library Faerie

     Raspberry Mocha Candy Bar

A delicious raspberry mocha center in a chocolate candy bar.

"I do so enjoy the combination of chocolate and berry, I like that it has some tartness to it from the raspberry, and the dark richness of the mocha."

The Library Faerie admits that you might often catch her with a Raspberry Mocha Candy Bar in hand (or in the pocket of her skirt) as she flutters about the Faerie Library. She goes on a bit of a tangent about her favourite types of tea (which she much prefers to coffee) before coming back on track.

"My only complaint about this chocolate bar would be the wrapping. It makes such a crinkle and crackle sound when you take it off!"

     Banana Chocolate Ganache Cake

The Library Faerie claims to not indulge in sweets too often, but says that she has a fondness for the Banana Chocolate Ganache Cake, a fluffy cake made with sweet ripe bananas and nuts topped with a creamy chocolate ganache. It stays moist for days, giving the Library Faerie plenty of time to treat herself to a slice or two in between making crosswords puzzles and working in the Faerie Library.

"I bake it for special occasions, or when the fancy strikes me. Nothing like a slice of cake, a good cup of tea and of course an interesting book. Those are all of my favourite things!"

          The Soup Faerie

     Chocolate Achyfi Lollypop

This sparkling lollypop is made with root extracts to give your Neopet energy!

This kind, generous faerie has her Soup Kitchen set up in Neopia Central Marketplace, in close proximity to the Chocolate Factory, The Bakery and also the Food Shop and Healthy Food shop. So she`s certainly got plenty of places to go for a savoury snack.

"The Chocolate Achyfi Lollypop is just the thing to keep me going and on my feet all day, serving soup to poor, hungry Neopets. The root extracts give me an energy boost so that I don`t get tired. Eating a lollypop is most practical for me, as it leaves both my hands free for serving soup. It also has a sour powder in the middle that really sharpens your senses!"

     Chocolate Cake

"While I`m busy running the Soup Kitchen, I do have time off. And when I have the time to sit down and relax, I love to indulge in rich desserts. Chocolate Cake is a treat to look forward to at the end of a busy day. I love to sit down, rest my feet and dig into a juicy piece of rich chocolate cake. A well-earned reward worth waiting for."

          Illusen the Earth Faerie

     Organic Dark Chocolate

     Ingredients: Deliciousness.

Natural, simple and clean are keywords that define Illusen`s diet. She enjoys sweet treats like anyone, but is careful not to indulge too much – and you`d never see her consume anything mass-produced or artificial.

Organic Dark Chocolate, shipped to Meridell from the Healthy Food Shop is this Earth Faerie`s go-to sweet snack.

"While I love fruits and nuts, I actually prefer my chocolate plain and simple. I like milk and dark chocolate just as much, any type of chocolate makes me happy."

     Chocolate Honey

All the goodness of honey coated in rich milk chocolate.

Illusen also enjoys some Chocolate Honey now and then, whenever she is truly wanting to satisfy her sweet craving. This succulent little treat comes in a dew-drop shape where tempered milk chocolate has formed a shell around the soft, golden honey.

     Chocolate Coated Pear

A beautiful hot baked pear dipped in milk chocolate.

"This is more of a season-based choice," Illusen explains. "During autumn, when the evenings get darker and colder, I love to curl up in my chair with a baked pear, coated with a thick layer of milk chocolate. It`s absolutely delicious and warms me right up. I`ve recommended Taelia the Snow Faerie to try it too!"

          Jhuidah the Island Faerie

     Nutty Chocolate Negg

This Chocolate Negg has little bits of almond mixed into it.

"These are a right treat," Jhuidah grins at the journalist, holding it up. She breaks off a piece, graciously offering a taste. "I get them shipped here directly from the Chocolate Factory. Kari is partial to them too," she grins, referring to the Negg Faerie.

The Nutty Chocolate Negg is creamy and delicious with pieces of almond and a touch of sea salt.

"I like that little bit of salt that`s mixed in, it really elevates the flavour," Jhuidah states as she takes a generous bite out of the Negg and savours it. "Mmm! Couldn`t have cooked up anything better myself."

     Chocolate Tchea Truffle

A delectable blend of chocolate and Tchea fruit.

A native to Mystery Island, Jhuidah is no stranger to all kinds of fruits and vegetables that grow on the tropical island. The Tchea Fruit is however not a fruit you would ever find on any tree or bush on this island. The stripy Tchea fruit tastes of blueberry and banana, and Jhuidah`s favourite chocolate truffle is filled with a soft, thick Tchea cream.

"When you bite into it, you first break through the layer of chocolate before the Tchea fruit flows out over your tongue, wrapping it like a fruit-flavoured blanket."

This fruit grows in the Lost Desert, and so they`re quite the exotic treat that Jhuidah saves for special occasions.

          The Tooth Faerie

     White Chocolate Muffin

This muffin even has a whole chunk of white chocolate on top.

Known all across Neopia for her lessons on dental health, the Tooth Faerie can`t claim to not enjoy something sweet now and then, as long as it`s not a daily occurrence, she specifies.

"I know many Neopians find white chocolate to be plain and boring, but I really enjoy it," she says. "It`s creamy and sweet without being overpowering, and these muffins also come with chunks of white chocolate both on top and sprinkled throughout the dough. I have a penchant for pastries, they`re soft and crumby – I much prefer that to things like popcorn or nuts that just get bits stuck in between your teeth."

     Chocolate Green Tea Parfait

Minty green tea flavour and smooth milk chocolate... the ultimate combination for relaxation.

"This is without a doubt my favourite treat. Sometimes I need to wind down and relax, and this parfait puts me in the right mood with the delicious blend of mint and chocolate. A combo you just can`t beat!" she states with a wide grin sporting flawless pearly whites.

I hope you all enjoyed this article, do let me know if you wish to see more of the same type, and this journalist wishes everyone a pleasant Chocolate Ball.
