Something Has Happened: Hair-Raising Random Events

     1). A gust of icy cold wind blows past you, chilling you to the bone.

     This one will literally send a chill down your spine. This Random Event will set the tone for all things scary - it just feels like a spine-tingling bad omen! Perfect for spooky season, the feeling will linger with you, long after the message and icy wind have vanished.

     2). Jhudora appears in a flash of purple and green smoke and says, "Have you completed one of my quests, today?"

     Y-Y-Y-YIKES!! Don’t you hate it when she sneaks up on you like that!? Yes, she is a Dark Faerie, and yes, she is super intimidating and demanding. Jhudora does not like to be kept waiting! Since her prize pool was recently refreshed, I’m sure she doesn’t need to tout her quests through Random Events, but I suppose it’s her Neopia…we are just living in it. Please don’t tell Fyora.

     3). OUCH! Count Von Roo appears in a puff of smoke and bites (your Pet’s name) on the neck!

     Okay, isn’t he supposed to be asleep, for like, most of the day!? He shouldn’t be going around sinking his fangs into the necks of innocent Pets like this. Halloween is kind of his thing though, so I guess this is considered his busy season. This Random Event is especially horrifying because your Pet will lose 1-3 maximum hit points after being bitten. Hopefully your favourite Battledome Pet wasn’t affected by Count Von Roo’s nefarious nibbling.

     4). A Shadow glides silently past, stealing all the joy from the world. (your Pet’s name) doesn't look very happy anymore.

     This one will cause your Pet to feel depressed. Those feelings of sadness can come on quickly and be very slow to leave, making this a truly terrifying ordeal! You may want to take your Pet for a few rides on the Roo Island Merry Go Round to boost their mood.

     5). Dr. Sloth has his "associates" take 20% of your Neopoints away to support his next Neopian invasion effort.

     Seeing Dr. Sloth pop up on your screen will ALWAYS be the ultimate jump scare. I’m shaking just thinking about him! This can be super scary, depending on how many Neopoints you carry around with you. Taking away 20 percent of your Neopoints is just plain diabolical and dastardly. This feels especially sinister because you won’t have a choice in the matter.

     6). The Black Pteri sits on a nearby fence post howling doom and misery for all to hear...

     Hearing a menacing caw in the night can only mean one thing - the Black Pteri. Receiving this Random Event will unlock him as a Battledome challenger, which is almost as frightening as hearing his hair-raising howls. Beware the Shriek of Misery! Is the Black Pteri trying to warn us of something? Is there danger ahead? No one knows for sure, which is why it’s best to avoid him.

     7). The Swamp Ghoul sneaks up behind you and says, "I will eat your Neopets for breakfast..." and then he floats away.

     This one is just unsettling. Does he want to eat ALL Neopets?! Or is he looking for a Blueberry Meerca to munch on, or perhaps a Mallow Grundo to gulp down? I do not support the eating of ANY Pets, to be clear! Surely you must agree, some Pets are more appealing than others (looking at you, Swamp Gas - I think you’re safe from the Swamp Ghoul’s cold clutches!) The bottom line is - he’s horrifying. Hide your Pets!

     8). You hear the unsettling laughter of Captain Scarblade... It can't be good that he is that happy.

     You don’t want to mess with any lunatic Lupe who comes at you wielding double swords. He won’t think twice about making you walk the plank! Captain Scarblade is featured in the Gallery of Evil, and he’s quite proud of that. So, what is making him crack up with laughter? Maybe he just heard a good pirate joke, right…? RIGHT!? Yes - I’m sure that’s it!

     9). You get home from a long day at the employment centre to find that all of your Neopoints and items have been stolen, your Neopets are sick and your stocks have... *shudder* Oh thank Fyora! It was just a horrible, horrible dream.

     Thank Fyora, indeed! It’s always a relief to wake up from a bad dream and realize none of it actually happened. I wish some of these Random Events were just dreams, but indeed they are real.

     Something Has Happened! These Random Events will have you checking over your shoulder at every turn. You’ll want to stay vigilant, since they can’t be avoided. Keep in mind, they are not all bad. Maybe Jacko the Phantom painter will pop up to surprise you with a new Paint Brush. Erhm, well actually, he’s quite scary too - I mean he has “Phantom” in his name! The point I’m trying to make is that while Random Events can terrify you to the core, you must put on a brave face and go forth with courage. Never let the fear of a Random Event stop you from clicking. Continue to play Dice-A-Roo, keep refreshing at the Money Tree, and carry on with restocking at the Igloo Garage Sale! And if Dr. Sloth comes to collect…don’t say I didn’t warn you!
