Enjoying a Holiday Vacation in Terror Mountain by jubileek
--------
Neopia is a splendid place to travel throughout anytime of year. However, some parts of Neopia are definitely chillier than others. If you choose to vacation in the frigid region of Terror Mountain during the holiday season, there are a few preparations you should take and plans you should make to get the most out of your time there. Despite the constant snow and its daunting name, a visit to Terror Mountain can actually be delightful. Here are some tips to stay at a satisfactory temperature and make the most of your visit!
First, research your destination and the attractions there. To know what you’re getting yourself into, I suggest initially perusing the Terror Mountain Travel Brochure. Once you’ve solidified your decision to visit Terror Mountain, consider looking at more in-depth literature on the culture, environment, and tourist activities of its lands. The most jovial area of Terror Mountain is surely Happy Valley, and you can read all about current activities in The Happy Valley Report, a thorough volume on the happenings of the region. And for a seasonal mystery that may or may not take place in your destination, pick up a copy of The Winding Winter Path.
Pack clothes that are appropriate for the season. Layering is key to staying comfortable when moving between outdoors and indoors in cold weather. In the most extreme climates, a warm, thick coat should be worn at all times when outside. A Fur-Trimmed Coat is a fuzzy, fashionable option that meets the requirements of thick and warm. Another cozy jacket that is probably more suitable for those slightly eccentric Neopets is the Patchwork Holiday Winter Coat. And adding other warm accessories to your outfits will make your visit even more bearable. Enjoyable, even. A fluffy Snowy Scarf is just one of many potential additions to choose from, though a variety of other boots, gloves, hats, and scarves will also do. If going to the slick Ice Caves in particular, wear boots that you won’t slip in.
Plan on eating hearty, filling meals. Even while away from home, dishes reminiscent of home are soothing. Plus, many of them are served hot, perfect for evading nippy weather. Perhaps a large bowl of Gnocchi Beef Stew will satiate your hunger and desire for warmth. Vegetarian Neopets can opt for an equally sizable portion of Cheesy Onion Noodle Soup , which is chock full of healthy veggies and delicious noodles. To stay hydrated and warm while doing leisurely activities, fill a Borovan Thermos with piping hot Borovan before you venture out for the day! If you’re brave enough for a chilled dessert to match the weather (have I mentioned it’s cold here?), you can check out Happy Valley’s Slushie Shop.
Take advantage of the climate. Despite the sometimes unpleasant conditions outside, the outdoors is a great source of entertainment, especially during the winter in the mountainous region of Neopia. Snow sports, snowball fights, and snow angels are all possible in places where it snows. In fact, they are not only possible to do, but often encouraged and pleasant to participate in! If vacationing to Terror Mountain from a land where the mild weather is not cold enough for snow, I suggest first studying up on your snow shaping skills by reading How to Build a Snowball. A possible next step is to venture up the mountain to hit the slopes with a Colourful Snowboard. If you’re a Chia, your safety on the runs will be impeccable if you wear a Skier Chia Helmet. For every other Neopet, I guess you can wear a space helmet or whatever else is available to you. Surely, any other helmet is just as safe.
Document your visit well. Similar to any other trip, you’re certain to make lots of memories while travelling to Terror Mountain in the winter time. There are various ways to remember all the fun you had - going beyond just memories in your head! For a quick and accessible documentation experience, consider bringing along an Around the Neck Camera to take photos. You can also keep a travel journal by writing about your time abroad in a notebook which suits your personality. Or one which suits the season at hand, like the Snow Notebook. Truly, though, any notebook will be just fine for journaling. Of course, you will also need a writing utensil. Continuing with the winter theme, you could use a Snow Pencil{/i> for this, though any similar object will work as long as it is practical for the temperature.
Participate in festive activities. Just because you’re away from home during the holiday season doesn’t mean that you have to miss out on holiday activities. You could lace up a pair of Winged Ice Skates and take a few laps around the local ice skating rink, just like the skating Bruce. You could even carol while skating for a doubly festive activity. There are myriad carols to pick from, including those in the volume Meepit Carols, which are famously known for being among the most polarizing Neopian carols. Don’t forget to visit the Advent Calendar each day of your visit during the month of Celebrating to get a gift. While the gifts are new items each day, you may be able to find a Wintery Petpet Shop Stamp, which has been a clickable prize during past Advent Calendars. This snowy depiction of Happy Valley’s very own Petpet shop would serve as a timely memento of your winter visit to Neopia’s coldest land.
Purchase some seasonal souvenirs to take home. Aside from photos and memories, keepsake items can also serve as a reminder of your vacation to Terror Mountain. For example, on a warm summer day elsewhere in Neopia, you could fly a gorgeous Wintery Mountainscape Kite to show the stark contrast between the mountain and your current location. Likewise, a Terror Mountain Snowglobe kept at home can be shaken at any time to create a snowstorm whenever you want. And for the foodie Neopets, visit the Neggery in the Ice Caves to select a treat from the various available Neggs. My personal favourite is the gorgeous Crystal Negg.
;Hopefully this guide has been helpful with your trip planning to the only perpetually freezing part of Neopia. From the Top of the Mountain to the cheery Happy Valley and deep into the Ice Caves, there’s something to do for every Neopet in Terror Mountain. Don’t forget to browse the map of Neopia and the suggested Neopian literature for more information about your next vacation destination!
