Quote of the Week

The skeleton flinched away from the arrow, looking at it with its head cocked consideringly. The Grarrl flexed its clawed fingers as it glanced between the arrow and the one who'd let it fly, seeming for a moment to seriously be considering trying to climb up the tree after the archer.

10 Gallery Ideas to Spark Inspiration

If you’ve been playing Neopets for a while, chances are your Safety Deposit Box is full of odds and ends. You may find a dozen different types of omelettes, stacks of books, a wide collection of Plushies, or food that you never planned to eat. But what if those items weren’t just buried in storage? What if you could take them out, arrange them neatly, and create something worth showing off to the rest of Neopia? That’s exactly what a gallery is for, not just a collection of items, but a collection of you and your passions. The hardest part of starting your gallery is picking a theme. A strong theme sets the direction of your gallery, turning clutter into a curated masterpiece. To get you started, here are 10 Gallery Themes from affordable beginner projects to more ambitious showcases that might inspire your next big collection. 1. Plushies PLUSHIESSS!! Enough said. Plushies are everywhere in Neopia!

How to Host a Game Night

Game nights are always a good idea. You learn a lot about each other while creating lifelong bonds and memories in the process. These long days and nights full of laughter and inside jokes are the ones you will always look back on together no matter where in life you end up. What turns a good game night into a great game night is amazing food and drinks – but if you really want to make a great game night into the perfect game night then you want to make a themed and immersive experience for your guests. The first thing you are going to want to think about is when your party is. Certain games make sense for a certain time of year; if you were wanting to host something around the Day of Giving that party would look different from a party around Halloween or Valentine’s Day. A game night in the Month of Sleeping will likely look vastly different from one in the Month of Swimming.

Callista stared at her reflection in the mirror. Her wide eyes were scarlet with green irises. When her jaw dropped, it revealed sharp, pointed teeth that were neither sharp nor pointed before. Her fur had become a deep shade of purple, yet somehow her auburn hair had been untouched. As if to be sure, the Aisha reached up to twirl a lock of it around her trembling fingers – which had suddenly grown what she could only call claws. Her face twisted from shock to disbelief after she touched it over and over, feeling it with her hands, before her knees gave way beneath her and she dropped to the floor, still gazing at the other Aisha in the glass. Then her shoulders shuddered as she gave way to profuse, broken sobbing. “Callista? Callista!” She looked up when she heard her name; it had been called by an Aisha who resembled her, albeit with softer features and red eyes hidden behind glasses. Briefly, she noticed the already dissipating tendrils of emerald light from his profile. “F-Father! What’s happening?” she wailed as the other Aisha knelt beside her, cupping her chin in gentle hands and brushing her hair away from her face. “I…my face…your face…” “The Orb has been stolen,” whispered Sergeant Major Crandall into her ear as he slowly scrubbed a tear away from her left eye. He whispered spell words under his breath, and green fire blazed anew on his fingers.

"A Quiet Customer" by kadface
Although Happy Valley never saw a true summer’s day, with picnics, water fights and sandcastle competitions, the long hours of daylight meant the air still held a warmth through the night. Even though feet would still need to stamp off wind-blown snow at the porch, the trees could shake off their canopy of ice and stretch out their leaves to bask in the sun. But now Autumn was fast approaching. There was a definite bite, brisk and sharp, in the morning, and Neopians throughout the Valley were eying up their neighbours’ chimneys, waiting to see who would be the first to crack and light their fire. Like a game of Wilbreth, no one wanted to be the first, but as soon as one plume of smoke rose, all the rest would follow. Secretly, Stana was pleased. She had always preferred the chillier times of year. It was a good excuse to bring out the chunky knit jumpers. All summer long, she had been knitting a new one for the season. The neckline was interlaced with Altadorian knots, which had taken her the best part of a week to get right. Today was the first day that she felt was cold enough to warrant wearing it. It was early in the morning. Leice was expected soon, but was still out picking up the ingredients for the day’s specials. Much to Leice’s chagrin, the delivery team were out on holiday this week, so Leice had needed to wake up early to go...

"Let Your Heir Down" by mushroom_me
Tall, regal, and with an air of confidence, the newly appointed Lord of the Darigan Citadel carried himself with poise as he swiftly made his way across the gravel path. The dry high altitude air hit the back of his throat as his thoughts, which, as of late, seemed to have developed voices of their own, began to overlap in curious ways. A product of stress, he had surmised. That, or a major vitamin deficiency. Whichever the cause, Kass hadn’t the time to comprehend it. His recent usurping had caused shockwaves throughout the citadel, especially within the council (made up of mostly overweening, highly disapproving officers and chairmen). It was crucial to secure their allegiance, however, so preparations to influence them were underway. And by any means necessary. “Galgarroth is a naysayer,” he thought, no, it was a gruff voice that wasn’t his own. “Yes, he must be dealt with,” another said, harsh and agitated. The voices were oft-times intrusive in nature, but they were rarely wrong, Kass had to admit. Galgarroth had a big mouth, and his very existence created immense challenges for the Eyrie. Whilst serving under the former Lord Darigan before his demise, the two generals had never seen eye to eye, and now, the Grarrl was as critical as ever, making false claims and declaring loudly to the masses that Kass lacked the moral fibre to rule justly.
