 A Walein’s Dream Come True-OoooOo by mango_

The Neopian Times sat down with the Lab Ray Scientist and Kooky to learn more about the origins of our sky-bound friend: the giant Walein that floats above Faerie City. The gentle breezes above Faerie City carry more than just the whispers of magic these days. A giant, blue Walein now graces the skies, a whimsical creature that seemingly materialized overnight back in Year 25. Intrigued by this magnificent sight, the Neopian Times sought out the minds behind his extraordinary appearance: the ever-experimenting Lab Ray Scientist and his steadfast companion, Kooky, to unravel the tale of this sky-bound marvel. Interviewer: Good afternoon! Thank you for taking the time to teach us more about our giant Walein friend. He seemed to just appear one day in the skies over Faerieland. After Queen Fyora mentioned he was the result of an accident at the lab ray, he is all Neopia can talk about! Could you please tell us more about him? Lab Ray Scientist: Ah yes, our adorable sky friend! He was the result of quite the unexpected turn of events. Some may say he’s the result of a mistake, but we like to think of him as a happy accident. Kooky: Kip! Lab Ray Scientist: Precisely, Kooky! Interviewer: What exactly happened during this “accident” to make a Walein of this size, fully capable of soaring through the skies of Faerieland? Lab Ray Scientist: Well, it all started when he visited our Petpet Laboratory, just like all the other Petpets do. He explained how he had always dreamed of transforming into a Faerie Walein, feeling that his current appearance didn’t quite match his whimsical and majestic personality. Faerieland is his most favourite place in all of Neopia, and he has always loved spending time in Faerie City. One day, he overheard some faeries discussing the various ways Petpets could change their appearances. He even confided in Queen Fyora about his big dream! But when he realized he didn’t have enough Neopoints for a Faerie Petpet Paint Brush, he decided to make his way to our Petpet Laboratory. He wasn’t going to give up on his dream! Kooky: Kip kip! Lab Ray Scientist: I’m getting there, Kooky! Well, we had everything meticulously planned and were following the standard operating procedures. We were fully confident that everything was going according to plan. However, what we didn’t account for was the Walein’s heart. Interviewer: I didn’t realize anatomy played such a big part in the science of Petpet zapping. Lab Ray Scientist: Oh, it certainly does. You see, this Walein’s heart was so full of love, compassion, and friendship that it couldn’t be contained in the form of a small Faerie Walein. This is the only explanation I have for what happened. Our laboratory equipment simply was not designed to handle all that energy. Interviewer: So, this Walein’s heart of gold was too powerful for your zapper? Lab Ray Scientist: Exactly! The energy coming from the Walein’s love had to go somewhere, but our machines didn’t know where to put it. The zapper began to make all sorts of noises–sparks flying everywhere, lights flickering. Just as we were about to initiate emergency shutdown procedures, there was a blinding flash of light and a massive burst of energy that knocked us both back. When I stood back up, I didn’t see the Walein anywhere, and I feared he might have turned into a Pile of Soot. Kooky: Kip! Kip kip! Lab Ray Scientist: Absolutely, Kooky! We always warn every Petpet that we can’t guarantee the results and that anything could happen. But I quickly realized that he was not a Pile of Soot when I saw the massive hole in the side of our laboratory wall. I immediately rushed over and looked through the hole. And there, hovering above the water was one of the most magnificent creatures I have ever seen: a giant blue Walein, flying in the sky and shimmering in the sun. Interviewer: Wow! That moment must have been so surreal! Lab Ray Scientist: It was unforgettable. To think that this little Walein’s love and compassion were so overwhelming that his body simply couldn’t contain it–it’s truly magnificent! So, instead of becoming a Faerie Walein, he became the giant blue Walein that we’ve come to know and love today. Interviewer: Did the Walein say anything when he finally realized what had happened? Lab Ray Scientist: Not really! He just kept flying around in circles with the biggest smile on his face, occasionally going, “OoooOoOo!” Kooky: KipOoooOoo! Lab Ray Scientist: Kooky adores him, if you couldn’t already tell. Interviewer: We all do, Kooky! Where did the Walein go afterward? Lab Ray Scientist: It didn’t take long before Queen Fyora noticed a giant Walein in the sky. It also didn’t help that he immediately took off for Faerieland, repeatedly exclaiming, “My dreams came true-OoooOoOo!” Interviewer: That’s such a heartwarming story. Do you know how the Walein has been adapting to his new form? He always looks so happy. Lab Ray Scientist: He loves it! The Walein has embraced his new form with excitement and pride. He loves flying around Faerieland, making friends wherever he goes. Interviewer: I’ve noticed he tends to hang out around Faerie City, right where Neopians can go to help the Faeries with their quests. Lab Ray Scientist: Ah yes! That’s one of his favourite places. He loves helping out, and he says he likes to hang out there to give Neopians encouragement as they embark on their Faerie quests. Interviewer: How sweet! What started as a routine zap became something far more profound. Lab Ray Scientist: Absolutely. This Walein, with his heart so full of love, has become much more than just a big blue Walein gracing the skies of Faerieland. He is a reminder that even the biggest dreams can come true, sometimes in the most unexpected ways. Interviewer: What a beautiful message. Thank you so much for sharing more about this heartwarming story. I’m sure all of Neopia is eager to see what our giant Walein friend gets up to next. A couple days after speaking with the Lab Ray Scientist and Kooky, I visited the Walein in Faerie City to say hello and to thank him for being such a warm and kind presence in Faerieland. I told him how many Neopians love him and how we are all so happy to have him as a friend. After telling him this, he gave me a great big smile and went, “OoooOoOoOoooo!”
