Quote of the Week

The darkness he felt seemed to take on a new character, and he looked up and realised he was passing through the Haunted Woods. The Deserted Fairgrounds seemed particularly deserted now, the quiet echoing unusually loudly.

In this guide we will help you out with multiple different areas in caring for your Petpet – and yourself! – as you navigate this new and exciting step of your life. Books Petpet Biology This book will teach you all you need to know about a growing Petpet. Top 10 Favourite Neopian Pastimes

Can you believe we’ve hit 1050 Neopian Time articles? As a fellow Neopian, I did not think that when I was 7 years old that I’d be logging in twenty-plus years later to find myself side by side amongst old and new friends. While the Neopia we once knew only exists in our memories, the evolution of this world has always brought me back. If you’re returning to Neopets in Y28, welcome back! If you never left, welcome home. In honour of the 1050th Neopian Times issue, I would love to take a moment of your time to talk about my top 10 favourite things to do on Neopets as someone who frequently finds themselves lurking about. First up on the list: collecting stamps. It feels like it’s the best time to get back into, or even begin, your album collection. With so many events and re-releases of collectibles, achieving your goals and adding another +1 to your album has been so rewarding these past few months. There are more opportunities for all Neopians to have a chance at completing their most coveted album pages. Let’s talk about that pet customization Whether you frequent the NC Mall, or love to shop at our local Neopian shops, the amount of options to dress up your neopets and give them their own style has been astonishing. No matter the style, the pattern, the world, or design - there’s something for every Neopet out there. On the hunt for new secret avatars Haven’t you heard? We’re getting tons of releases for new secret avatars, and what a joy it has been to figure it out with the community. So many pieces that were long lost in the Neopets AIM icon pages have been released officially as secret avatars, so put your thinking caps on, Neopians, we got some avatars to find!

A Guide to Picking the Perfect Quill

*caw* *caw* *cluck* *squawk* Whoops! *clears throat* Apologies for that. For a second, I was accidentally speaking in Weewoo. While it may come as a surprise to you, dear reader, that I, the White Weewoo of Neopian Times fame, a mere Petpet, am able speak in Common Neopian, I must ask–who do you think has been editing each issue of Neopia most esteemed newspaper? *winks* While this wee little Petpet’s ability to speak like a fully-fledged Neopet may come as a surprise, my enthusiasm for ‘the quill’ should not. After all, here at the Neopian Times we like to reward our contributors with a trophy resembling the shape of our favorite writing tool! *sigh* These days, it seems like nobody writes anything by hand. Call me old fashioned, but I think that there’s something uniquely special about the experience of putting pen to paper. While I understand that typing can be much more convenient, if you use the perfect quill, the experience is unrivaled. That is why I’ve drafted this guide to help Neopians decide which quill is right for them. *cluck * Consider it a feathered guide to writers everywhere! *** 1. Comfort The first factor to consider when selecting the perfect quill is comfort. No two quills are alike, as are no two hooves, fins, or paws; the quill that fits perfectly in my talons will not necessarily be the quill that will feel the most snug in your hand. Before committing to a particular quill, I would suggest trying out a few options at your local calligraphy shop. Some quills may feel too heavy and weigh your hand down while you write. Other quills may be too light and lack a satisfying grip. Some quills may be too rough and cause your hands to callous during extended writing sessions. Whereas other quills may be too smooth and slip and wobble when your hands (inevitably) get clammy.

"The White Weewoo Attack" by _brainchild_
It was a Friday afternoon, and Florezca the Pink Draik eagerly retrieved her delivery of the Neopian Times, hoping to enjoy the interesting pieces which had been published for Issue 1050. However, when she sat down and began to read the paper, she quickly realised that the issue was certainly not what she expected. Rather than lots of writing and comics, she was greeted by a single paragraph: To my fellow Neopians: I’m guessing that you are wondering where Issue 1050 is. Well, the truth is that there will be no Issue 1050 until I, Dr. Frank Sloth, get what I want. You see, there is a White Weewoo statue locked within a vault deep in the Catacombs. I need someone, anyone, to unlock the vault and give me the statue. Until this demand is met, I have ordered my Mutant Grundos to ransack the printing press and sabotage Issue 1050. All of the Neopian Times workers have been taken hostage, and they will not be released until my demand is met. If you want to see them again, and if you want Issue 1050, then someone must give me the statue. Horribly yours, Dr. Sloth Florezca scowled. This was not the first time that Dr. Sloth had hijacked the Neopian Times. (Issue 932---The Disappearance of Chet Flash: A Gamer’s Revenge) She was horrified by the violence occurring at...

"A Weewoo Rivalry" by dennykins
”Alright, everyone, gather ‘round!” Athena called out to the mail room. “Edition 1050 is coming up. It’ll be our biggest delivery day of the year by far, so treat today’s issue as a practice run. As your head of delivery logistics, I’ll be watching closely to see who’s up to this massive task. Is that understood?” “Yes, boss!” replied the chorus of assembled White Weewoos, with enthusiasm. Satisfied, Athena the Zafara returned to her office and closed the door, leaving the petpets to prepare for delivery. Max stood at his locker, tucked away to the side of the mail room. He put on his postal uniform and slung his delivery bag over his head and under his flightless wings. Would today be the day? He envisioned pinning the coveted Team Leader badge on himself, beaming with pride. His vision dissipated, however, when he saw the shiny gold brooch reflecting at him from Henry’s uniform instead of his own. “All good, Max? Ready to go?” Henry asked. “As ever!” Max replied with a salute, his feigned enthusiasm masking his disappointment. Each delivery of the Neopian Times had a Team Leader Weewoo. This was the Weewoo with the best delivery stats, the fastest and most accurate, who oversaw each of the other Weewoos. Theoretically, the Team Leader could change with every delivery... .

"To Soar Without Wings" by qeenoneo
Being a Weewoo in modern Neopian society is no easy feat; many who have desired soaring to great heights beyond their realistic capabilities have come crashing down before they even got a taste of true success. Weewoo’s can, and have, accomplished many wonderful things through the ages. This does not mean that those around them, whether family or friend, had not consistently doubted their abilities due to their appearance. Just because Weewoo’s don’t have wings does not mean that they can’t be a functioning part of society. No matter what Neopians say or how little they think we can achieve, it has always been my life’s ambition to prove all of them wrong. The Academy of Excellence is renowned for the subjects it offers students of all species, no matter their origin, colour, experience or ambitions. There is something there for everybody, the only downside being the enormous amount of Neopoints it takes to guarantee a spot within their curriculum. I was very lucky to be a part of a select few Petpets whose Neopets had already enrolled in the academy, meaning we also got the opportunity to not only accompany them, but also enroll in our own courses. I was so excited I felt elevated, which cannot otherwise be possible since I don’t have any wings!
